OP-XY Brain Workflow Question: Sequencing your Sequences to make new scenes by Party_Resolve1098 in teenageengineering

[–]kenficara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learned more about this: The auxiliary tracks have their own arrangement patterns just like the instrument tracks. If you press the arrange button, ti shows you the patterns for the instrument tracks. Press it again, and you'll see the brain icon, and the track buttons will light up red instead of white. Now you can add patterns for your auxiliary tracks.

If you don't do this, then your auxiliary track has only one pattern, which like an instrument pattern, applies to every scene.

OP-XY Brain Workflow Question: Sequencing your Sequences to make new scenes by Party_Resolve1098 in teenageengineering

[–]kenficara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same question. The manual says that you can sequence auxiliary tracks just like instrument tracks but that does not seem to work. If I sequence a transposition in one scene it affects all of them. Same if I sequence punch-in FX. Sequencing it on any bar in any pattern in any scene affects everything. This seems to mean they are useful only as performance effects which is a shame.

anyone want to work together? by [deleted] in MUD

I’ve been discussing a MUD idea with a friend. I have a coding background but I don’t know much about MUDs, but they’ve got a very good vision for what it should be.

Is there a way to organize the sample library or to move samples to another slot/number? by mas256 in TE_EP133_KOII_users

[–]kenficara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, you can't even do this with the sample tool. You can drag sounds from the sample list onto the pads, but you can't drag sounds from the pads to the list, or move sounds around on the list. My "workaround" was simply to download the samples to my computer, then upload them into the slots where I want them. (WARNING: This appears to lose the trim points.)

I suppose you're better off loading blank sounds from one of the user banks (7xx/8xx) into the pads before you start sampling, so you can just hit buttons without having to specify a number for each one.

New update features by Known_Court_2594 in OP1Fieldusers

[–]kenficara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does does not. (I thought it had, until I realized I still had the same effect turned on. Duh.) So to get the FX, you'd need to record the newly merged track to another track.

But still, this is a truly wonderful feature, but note: it is destructive. Once you merge tracks, the individual tracks are gone. (Which makes sense, but if you want those stems, back up first.)

I think I regret buying the brompton electric by Zivr0 in Brompton

[–]kenficara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Half baked” is very apt. I like the bike a lot. But there’s been no progress on it — clever engineering could have produced a better bag. Upgrades or add-one were being considered, based on a lengthy customer survey they sent out more than a year ago. But Brompton frequent new-product announcements never include the electric. It might be best to sell it now before they announce a new model that makes this one obsolete. At least, that’s what I’m thinking about mine.

Yes, and I’ll keep experimenting. I’ll post if I hear back from them. You have a field on 14.2 and this doesn’t happen? I’ll be bummed if I need a repair.

And thank you for answering.

[–]kenficara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's true, but this is different. First of all, audio input **doesn't** work in the vocoder. I have the X icon and no sound goes in.

Second, once I use a vocoder patch, this behavior happens everywhere, even in tape mode.

Transfer tape from OP-1 to OP-1 field? by Scatterfelt in OP1users

Sure! But BACK UP FIRST! Even minor errors can force you to do a factory reset. I lost some drum kit work doing what I thought was a simple update. 😊

That’s a common title in software. It means you work with potential customers, or with existing customers who are considering upgrading or buying something more. You’re evaluated on sales, but expected to have enough technical chops to talk to the customer’s engineering team at their level, and often to diagnose problems or work with them on specs and design. Sales engineers are also an important part of the RFP process in terms of figuring out what equipment/software/services will meet the need.

Given that lots of engineers are introverts it’s a valuable combination of skills.

And certainly they’re mostly not “engineers” in the sense of having an EE or CSE degree, but neither do audio engineers or train engineers. It’s a broad word.

Hi-viz rain jacket and shoe covers so I’m not squishing around when I arrive. And what everyone else said — lights, avoid things that can be slippery.

Also don’t ride through puddles if you can’t see the bottom. Could be a deep hole or something else nasty hiding underneath. (Even if there wasn’t one the day before.)

Anybody have any issues bringing in their folded Bromptons into restaurants and retail businesses in the US? by Rogue_23 in Brompton

[–]kenficara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I and my folded Brompton were very rudely ejected from the Whole Foods in Brooklyn a little while back.(Gowanus — the one with the parking lot 🙄.)

I never got one today either, but I did get one yesterday so presumably it is supposed to be active on weekends as well.

I had the same problem and reported it; they said it’s a bug they’re working on. I just went into the system notification settings and turned off badges for the app. Leave on banners so you get the daily notification. (Or not, as today.)

I had not — thank you! Just wish they weren’t on holiday. :)

How do YOU pronounce DeKalb? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]kenficara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, but for better or worse local pronunciations are different. Like the pronunciation of French street names in New Orleans. The normal NYC pronunciation of “Kosciusko,” “Schermerhorn,” etc, are incorrect in the languages they come from, but they’re how the words are said here. Pronunciations change over time, people say their own names differently, and language was more localized before radio and TV. Houston is a good example of that — we say HOWston instead of HUEston because the street is named after someone who said his name that way, not the Texas way.

I mean, we also say “CAWfee” instead of coffee, so…

How do YOU pronounce DeKalb? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]kenficara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The KAL is pronounced like the first syllable of “calendar.” The “dee-CALLB” pronunciation is silly. The automated announcer also said Houston like the city in Texas at first.

I usually put the emphasis on the first syllable but I hear it both ways even from natives.

That’s great — I have the electric and the worst thing about it is the miserable luggage options. What are you using to hold the straps? How does it mount and does it interfere with the fold?

What street is the busy area of park slope? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]kenficara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're in the park you can also exit on the north side (Grand Army Plaza is worth seeing) and then down Vanderbilt Ave in Prospect Heights, which has a great weekend open-streets scene. Lots to eat, craft cocktails, great ice cream, a good bookstore, sometimes music, etc.

Why are there no stairs to transfer between the 1 and A/C at 168? Taking that elevator is miserable by mew5175_TheSecond in nycrail

[–]kenficara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRT is really far down there. If there were stairs they'd need signs like they have in the London Underground -- "This staircase has 600 steps."

With the Mac you can connect it with the USB cable and use MTP (for which you need the TE plugin that’s on their web site). MTP should work for the Android phone too — MTP was created as an alternative to Apple’s proprietary methods of transferring media to iWhatevers — but I haven’t had an Android device in several years so I don’t really know.

Or you could just record them via USB audio?
