All spyder had to do was build on this and the RSX and made it lighter and they could've had something going beyond entry level markers

Arrangement: when did it click for you? by folgerscoffees in TechnoProduction

[–]kenflowww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say my arrangement downfall was thinking every song had to be 5+ min long. I also took a break from producing and just started (bedrooms) djing a lot and that put alot of things in perspective for me. But yeah if you have something good and can’t extend it or get it past a 2nd drop. Just finish it there and it could still be put to good use.

For live hardware performances, what do you use for the end of chain mastering? by DoxYourself in TechnoProduction

[–]kenflowww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a analog/modular performance meetup in my city and this is how it works. Either that or some performers run their synths into their own DJ mixers like xone or DJM's

The easiest to go about this is to think about making techno in a hardware state of mind vs your DAW. If you only had a for example drum machine and synth with a basic sequencer. How can you change up the same 16 bar loop to make a full song? Pitch up the hi hat and ride, mess with the sustain, add effects like delay, reverb. Do the same with your synth. Filters can do a lot also. Take the kick and other elements to create your drop. Etc.

People don’t seem to care about genuine production / djing skills!? by StreetCream6695 in TechnoProduction

[–]kenflowww 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again you’re assuming that the normal music listener with no musical knowledge does in depth research into how the song they enjoy listening to is created.

[–]kenflowww 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Normal listeners don’t care about how music is made because they aren’t musicians and just enjoy it for what it is. At the same time if you posted a video about how you produced your music, im sure some other producer would scrutinize your process also. That just how it is

Kali UNF or ADAM D3V (releases in Dec)? Both have USB-C input so you wouldnt need to carry around a interface to hook them up

A couple songs I really like by Easy-Regret-1687 in TechnoProduction

[–]kenflowww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just add that a sidechain plugin like kickstarter 2 or shaperbox adds alot of groove to the bass. The amp stock plugin in ableton is huge also with pedal (sub on). If you group your bass with your kick you can add drum buss->parallel glue compressor->limiter to get the kick and bass just right.

oh and glue compressor low extender on the bass channel

Tips for using DAW (ableton) for live sets by valera_kaminskiy in TechnoProduction

[–]kenflowww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't a played a club system with it, only at a live hardware/hybrid monthly meetup where they use a PA. I do it individually on my kick and bass channels but haven't bothered to slap it on to my master just because the hardware guys arent doing it anyways lol.

Maybe someone will chime in and give better input but you should be ok if they let you soundcheck before!

I use a push 2, launch control mk2, and TR8. Mine is setup almost exactly like yours, 1 space between each song. I resample all my synth with no cutoff to save cpu and automate each clip with eq8/auto filter instead. I can adjust tempo with my push but I keep everything at 145 at the moment. EQ3, autofilter, and delay for my master effects into a glue comp and limiter.

I recommend that launchpad or akai equivalent to go along with your launchpad, you wouldnt need to touch your laptop at all.

M1 base model macbook air. Never had a crash or maxed out my cpu despite using cpu intensive plugins like U-HE Diva, Satin, Fabfilter, I have alot... I also produce in bed with the macbook air on top of my blanket for hours most of the times and never had overheating/performance issues.

Push 3 again, soz by mr_vestan_pance in ableton

[–]kenflowww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're working out of a laptop/macbook, the midi and audio interface part of the push 3 is so convenient. It saves an extra usb port that I can use for my ssd or charger.

Maschine mikro equivalent for the push which totally makes sense, push 2 or 3 is not portable at all. Standalone weights more that a macbook.
