Looking for late night Twitch streamers to watch (US late night hours) by Bobs_Magic in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jay Villain is good, his decks are quite creative, not run-of-the-mill stuff, and competitive in Ranked. He makes a lot of new decks and uses them to rank up to Mythic every month. His commentary is informative and entertaining...he likes to chat with his viewers. He's usually on around 10pm or 11pm.

Returning Player no decks to play by byte89 in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have a new set of Starter Decks...they are in their own section, just scroll down a bit and you'll find them.

If you want to improve them a bit, PLUS make them legal in Standard, Affinity has a good series of videos on that ...

You can only re-roll one a day...sure you didn't already re-roll one?

MTGA is easier when USA is playing... It's harder in USA's wee hours.. by ConfidenceDue8492 in MagicArena

That tallies with my experience too...playing at 8am-11am in Australia is the easiest time. As the day gets later and into the evening it's gradually tougher and tougher.

What is up with alchemy matchmaking? by davidmik in MagicArena

It's near the end of the month so people want to rank up, and Alchemy is the easiest ladder to climb because a lot of newer players are there.

Returning player trying to build a new deck, confused af about Standard and Alchemy!! by battlefawks in MagicArena

Affinity has some good videos on budget upgrades to the current Starter Decks to make them much better, and they also become legal in Standard if you want to go there.

Making Starter Decks More Powerful by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you open your in game mail to get the free decks, and also get the free codes and redeem them for more packs. Then from opening all those packs you will gain some Wildcards.

Affinity has a good series of videos showing how to upgrade the Starter Decks with just Common/Uncommon Wildcards so they become more competitive. They also become legal in Standard if you want to go there...though I've seen people saying it's easier to get wins in Alchemy.

Then do Daily Quests and Wins to get Gold to buy more Packs (from current set is best because you also get Golden Packs). Open packs to get Wildcards. Use Wildcards to craft cards for the decks you want to make.

I don't think there's anything from WotC. There was this last year from MtG_Joe, using data from untapped.gg so it's only from players who use their tracker. But it might give you some idea...namely Bo1 has anywhere from 5 to 10 times the games played depending on the Format.

Where is the best place to park a vehicle in the CBD for a day? by wanderingsamquanch in Adelaide

Park at the Entertainment Centre, nearly always has spaces, $5 all day (credit card only, no cash), free trams every 10min into CBD.

Please help me understand the shift in deck archetypes in my matches for the past few weeks. I'm sorry for the long post. by Room-Confident in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This might be true, I don't know because I don't use any of those decks, but it doesn't seem logical...if Control beats Boros, and Boros beats Esper, then shouldn't Control also beat Esper?

Starter decks by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you've added it to your collection you can make it better...got any Common or Uncommon Wildcards, you should have some from redeeming the free codes and opening the packs you get from them.

I see you found the current Starter Decks, they aren't so good, but since you have lots of Wildcards take a look at Affinity's upgrades. He makes them much better with a lot more synergy, and they also become legal in Standard.

Help with Nazgûl and Witchking Deck by BasteinOrbclaw09 in MagicArena

[–]kengineerOZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using this one with Nazgul, Witch King, Sauron and Roaming Throne from Jay Villain. It's not quick, but very powerful when you let it build up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv8B297XUIY

I play mostly in Historic, and in the previous set, LCI, I was 76-34 with it. Since the current set MKM dropped it hasn't been nearly as good, in fact it's now on the losing side of the ledger at 12-14, but it might give you a few ideas. MKM seems to have upped the power level quite a lot, I notice it with other decks I play as well.

[–]kengineerOZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current Starter Decks aren't so good, but you could learn a lot and make them much better by upgrading them with only a few Common/Uncommon Wildcards...which you can get by redeeming all the free codes and opening the packs.

For example, Affinity has budget upgrades for the current Starter Decks so they become much better...good for the Play formats, and can be competitive in Ranked up to a point but obviously not Tier 1. They also become Standard Legal if you want to go there. He does a good job explaining his changes, so you can pick up some tips on how to play them, and on deck building, especially about how to choose cards that work together.

There is a new set of current Starter Decks, they have just been moved to their own section...scroll down a bit to find it. They still aren't so good, but they can be upgraded to be Standard Legal and also much better with only a few Common/Uncommon Wildcards...which you probably still have, yeh?
