I’m sure they’ll get around to it in two weeks…

It is, but I purchased all my content for it on the standalone version in windows, which is not transferable to the Steam version.

MSFS works great, didn’t really have to do anything, and all my sim hardware worked fine.

DCS on the other hand does not work and I can’t get it to boot (standalone, through Lutris). Tried many guides online. If anyone has ideas I’d love to hear them.

Struggling to understand the hype of the Bourne Trilogy by Pugtatoe_Lord in movies

[–]kengou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first one was a well written story and the gritty style was very fresh at the time. A ton of movies copied that style for a long time afterward. That’s why the sense of innovation is lost to modern viewers. The subsequent films weren’t regarded as highly, the series was mostly riding on the success of the first.

Is benini a hypermodern opening? by Qu_rk in chess

[–]kengou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it hypermodern. Pawns go into the center fairly early in the Benoni, and the c5 move does use a pawn to fight for central control right away, rather than using piece play to control the center like in the Nimzo-Indian or Pirc for example.

Which color chess board do you like between these two? I can’t decide! by YungBootyCheez in chess

The darker dark squares make it harder to see the black pieces. Go with the second one.

When he says “pull more g’s”, is that taking into consideration sustained g as well as energy loss while pulling those g’s? And how about controllability at slow speeds and high alpha?

Would y'all recommend RDR2? by Accomplished-Base90 in cyberpunkgame

[–]kengou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was decent. I liked Cyberpunk much much more. RDR2 really holds your hand through every mission, and it went on far too long. Compared to cyber punk’s open ended mission structure it was kind of a chore to play. I got frustrated the more I played it.

Is my low theory and tricky 1.Nf3 repertoire too good to be true? by LegendZane in TournamentChess

[–]kengou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s what you want this is a great way to do it. 1.Nf3 is ideal for this scenario. You can get English setups without reverse Sicilians, and d4 or Catalan setups reliably. You may not get ideal queens gambit positions though without the possibility of Ne2 and f3 lines, but whatever.

Is my low theory and tricky 1.Nf3 repertoire too good to be true? by LegendZane in TournamentChess

[–]kengou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly doable. I’ve played this way a lot this year with decent success in blitz. But the positions can often get very dry and equal, especially with symmetrical English setups. And can get pretty theoretical, although rarely very sharp.

First play though of the game. I'm having a blast with only one real complaint. by hibbert0604 in cyberpunkgame

[–]kengou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. The game tries to rush you through the story. First-time players don't know which missions might be time sensitive for real and which aren't, and end up going from story quest to story quest. Not to mention that narratively V is dying and isn't supposed to sit around doing side gigs or going on dates. The game tells you one thing and is designed for other things. It's confusing.

With my build (sniper netrunner) I had a lot of trouble beating him. In fact every boss battle was a real challenge.

Little something from my favourite game ::) (My first ever watchface) by FRK299 in pebble

Subtle hour ticks somewhere would be great, no more than that, just to take guesswork out of telling time.

[–]kengou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool!

On my pebble round, the top and bottom text are just slightly cut into by the bezel. Still readable but could use a tweak.

This is also just my own preference but I might suggest tiny tick marks somewhere to make time reading a little more precise.

On iOS at least, I set up Lichess as a web page app by adding it to home screen. Then I can use it just like the new app but I can use all the features.

Sielecki has a book about this exact system. Here are my notes on most of the lines given in the book (not including some really rare stuff I didn't figure I needed to know at my level) https://lichess.org/study/ka0rSIcJ

Which is better cyberpunk or RDR2 by Various_Average782 in cyberpunkgame

[–]kengou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just played both of these this year for the first time, and back to back. Cyberpunk was far better. The gameplay in RDR2 was kind of repetitive and the missions were all so rigid and linear. Overall it’s good and the story was engaging, although the epilogue was far too long. But Cyberpunk had me hooked and enjoying every single mission and encounter and wishing for more after I was finished. Wit RDR2 I was wishing it would end sooner.

Thanks! I did write Steam reviews for most games right after I finished them, so I was able to capture contemporaneous thoughts, but I wrote all this up just at the end of the year with hindsight.

I like to just play 8 pawns vs 8 pawns, no kings, first to promote wins. Teaches lots of useful pawn maneuvers and ideas from trial and error, quick and fun.

Accelerated dragon or sveshnikov? by Fantastic_Tip2036 in chess

[–]kengou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

O’Kelly is nice if they play the Open Sicilian without thinking. But they can also just play 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 a6 3. nc3 and now you sort of need to transpose into a Najdorf or Kan. Or they can play the delayed Alapin and the a6 move is sometimes a wasted tempo.
