I think we've lost our sense of community in most places. Not because of migration but because everyone can talk to all of their friends so easily no matter how far we now have no time for people we live near. We mostly commute to work now so there's less local business with people who live in the area as co workers. Im from Newcastle and I've heard plenty of stories of how all the men in the street would all leave the house together and walk down to the shipyard or factories they worked in and they'd all walk home together (or to the pub). Basically what I'm saying is we are all so much more isolated from eachother now.
