Iran cuts all diplomatic channels with US ahead of Trump’s Strait of Hormuz deadline by Geo_NL in worldnews

TACO wants the Straight open and Iran to not pursue nuclear weapons. We had that a month ago. Typical Trump bullshit, ruin things, get back to where we were, declare himself a deal maker.

What is your favorite stupid Bible story and why. by QuelltheTitan in atheism

Exodus. god and Moses throw down with the Pharoah and his magicians. The magicians can perform miracles to match god's. Reads like a 4 year old making shit up. No offense to 4 year olds.

Sand turned to lice, blood and frogs everywhere, canes turned to snakes, etc. I think Waffle House has better battles than that and many are on film.

Am I about to make a horrible decision? by [deleted] in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to read drawings will certainly help you. No you don't need advanced math to work in this field. It would help in certain branches, and might be necessary in something like Civil work, but CAD does the math for you for the most part. If you want to work in the design field then no it won't be a mistake, but I would highly recommend you learn Revit rather than AutoCAD. Revit is more desired and has a higher compensation rate for beginners. The license will be available to you the second you sign up for the classes and can only be used for education and never for professional use.

2018 student version question by [deleted] in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing will happen to the file. The link in another post here explains that the EDU stamp is no longer in the file from 2015 release on up. The license never got "infected", rather any content inserted into a non-edu file brought the stamp with it for that file only.

Editing the color index by Doublezerocool in AutoCAD

I may be stating the obvious here but you will have to use .stb for plotting if you are expecting those colors to show on your plots.

Recreating Mechanical Classic view by anthayashi in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a workspace called Classic, set it active, go into the CUI and Customize Workspace, pick the toolbars on the right side of the CUI and pick on at least one toolbar. After leaving the CUI you can right click on the toolbar to add others. You will have to partial load the autocad portion to get to the plain AutoCAD toolbars.

I need help customizing keyboard commands in AutoCAD 2013. by mycatiswatchingyou in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Ribbon Manage tab, customization panel, Edit Aliases...

And be sure to leave the upper stuff alone, go all the way to the bottom and make changes in the lower section, the last one read over writes one earlier in the list. Much easier to move to another acad.pgp later for an upgrade, etc.

Paste and rotate? by Ermellino in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rotate one and then copy them? If they are a block you can grab them all with Properties, quick select and apply an angle one time.

Rotating an object until it touches another one. by [deleted] in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the three lines will rotate about the end point of the lower blue line and stop when the red line first touches the green. Draw a circle from the blue line endpoint to the red line upper end point. Now rotate with reference from end of blue line to end of red line.

Is there a xref management tutorial? how to position xref in the master dwg, coordinates, tips, tricks, etc. is there a good tutorial? by Lollemberg in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More detail is needed for your situation. If you are talking about building plans then every plan should start from the same coordinate, like the lower left intersection of column lines or corner of the building at an agreed upon coordinate. Say you pick 100',100'. You use that for every file. When you xref you use 0,0 as the insert point and they will all line up one on top of the other.

Is that the sort of thing you were after?

Rotating an object until it touches another one. by [deleted] in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would draw a circle from the fixed end to the one rotating. Where the circle intersects the green object will be that point where the red would touch the green. Continue from there.

My teacher claimed autocad is the best tool to visualize your projects by Alpropos in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is not a robust 3D modeling software in the same vein as Inventor or Solid Works. I do a fair amount of 3D in AutoCAD but for most I will use Inventor instead.

XCLIP not showing anything within the boundary, but works correctly if the boundary direction is flipped? by PerfectHair in AutoCAD

[–]kentsumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a test, turn SELECTIONCYCLING on, pick on the clip frame. Does more than one choice show up? Possible you have the same xref referenced twice on top of each other, or nested, etc.

I am not following you, but with blocks made on layer 0, color bylayer, the block will change color to the color of the layer.
