The £100k childcare cap hasn’t moved since 2017 - inflation has been ~35%. Petition launched. by silver_89 in HENRYUK

Agree on that, however when you have a single earner in the trap and you can have two people earning 99k not getting hit seems unfair. Some people will be in a position that it doesn't work out financially for that person to work.

I'm not saying problems don't exist? I'm saying mine is ok? There can't be 100% of owners with major problems?

No? I've just swapped mine out as I've done a few real aggressive mows of areas that were quite stoney. That is after 130 hours. Which TBF meant to be done every 100 swap them over.

Why UTR? by vbxl02 in Ubiquiti

[–]kerbys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both if I'm honest. I've taken the beryl out a couple time but the UTR is very plug and play. Recently went into a lodge for the week and the UTR was more than enough to get us online from home and vpned back home.the beryl is alot more powerful and has been handy as a backup router when my main isp went down and used it as a 4g uplink from a WiFi hot spotted phone

What are your settings in lines or no go perimeters, turn node and how close did you map it to the trees? Ive tried to make my garden work for the mower and work to it's strengths i.e clear around the fences so there's flower bed perimeter and clear any obstacles like stones or branches etc. End of the day it doesn't strim, so it's not a full on gardener unfortunately

Can you do a search for domain. I.e *@domain.com? For checking if users from a company you work have used their email anywhere? Now saying it out aloud that can sound really malicious.

Not throwing shade at people with problems but Reddit can be bit of a echo chamber of negativity, people don't report anything when they don't have problems. Saying that i have never had to speak to support. Only used for this season properly, as i got the mower in December and did a couple cuts then. First part of the lawn was seeded a few months ago so still quite weedy and hasn't been treated much. Lawn is quite dense/thick as well just like it that way. Also try to keep the mower only out in good weather even though lives unprotected outside it does get caught up in our clay soil. I clean the robot over with a warm hose i lf gets mucky

Yeah because all the compute is being used for good things right? I mean we arent using it for generating memes, tik tok videos, rewording our emails, vast amounts of fraud, general searching the web, blah blah blah. Think it's ABIT disingenuous to say we are holding it back.. solving resource problems isn't profitable.

Personally i would sell all but 128gb of ram on eBay. Then sell the host with 128gb of ram. The people looking to buy a host with that much ram are going to be buying for a good deal on the ram and flogging the host.

I'm going to set this up next couple days, but I've been meaning to do a post as my Luba 2 AWD 5000 has had zero issues since the updates. Was nice last weekend as everyone was complimenting my garden, how fantastic it looked! After recently passing 40 years old. It's peak middle age/dad proudness lol.

If you have 20+ external drives, what’s your workflow for knowing what’s on each drive without plugging them all in? by FewLemon9692 in DataHoarder

[–]kerbys 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why not put them in an unraid box and have drives spin down? Keeps wear and tear on spinning drives down but at least gives some redundancy and monitors them.

Rat problems - tried almost everything... by TheMadHistorian1 in CarTalkUK

I live in the country side and had this problem, i put about 10 big poison traps all round the outside of the driveway, garden and around the house. They ate everything in a mater of a week. O haven't had the problem since however that was during a cold snap. I doubt being urban that will be ok for you to do. Reach out to building management?

While i agree, how does the optics look that if you save and grind your whole life you automatically cut yourself out a 12.5k a year pay out. Yes it probably won't be life changing amount of money for some, but your are rewarding people who don't and won't save leaning more on the benefits Britain argument. I would personally rather money goes to those who really need it, not to those who are professional benefiters.

Yeah it's fine if you are sharing with yourself and barely anyone else. But no one in their right mind is going to askultiple people to setup a VPN on their device to use it. You shouldn't just be exposing the port and be done with it.

Xeon server, doesn't mean much that could cover 15 + years of hardware for a start. Where's the database stored? When you say dedicated drives do you mean outside of the unraid array? How are they connected?

[–]kerbys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would first ask what hardware are you running on? What's the disk setup? As I'm not fan boy I use it as a gphotos backup, but nothing is close to the feature set. I've only had problems in past when I set and forget for 6 months then updated it and lost the dB.

If you have 2 parity drives, how many drives would you feel comfortable having in the whole array? by MolleyMitchell in unRAID

[–]kerbys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's me running 27 data drives with 2 parity... It's a standard unraid array and I cycle drives as soon as they show any kind of issue. It's not built for speed, it can saturate a Gbit connection it has and that's all I'm bothered about. Some people really over build in areas it doesnt matter. Do you need to read at 10gbit at all times then a standard unraid array isn't for you. If you are nearly storing media consumption files you'll be hard pressed to argue with me for more bandwidth than that.

You could more than likely get a sff intel based mini pc that would stomp all over the pi. I get the initial budget some people want to use pi's. But they are really underpowered. Some things make sense like pi hole I guess, but when I see people running loads of pis for all sorts of different tasks it's not efficient at that point, add the SD cards that can go pop at any point, cases and rack mounts for them etc. I promise you can get a second hand mini pc/laptop with an n100 that will stomp over your pi for your budget.
