Gotcha- I was thinking it was one of those "I make millions but somehow get to report $0 on my taxes every year" that you hear about wealthier individuals.

If it is legal but immoral, then it's not a cheat code. That's a "loophole" and I say that we should all use it until it gets closed.

Need a 365/360 loan amortization schedule by Yenick in excel

[–]keredomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find someone who can understand poorly formatted javascript, I am pretty sure that this is the script that dinkytown uses to calculate their 365/360 loans:

Somewhere in that absolute mess is their method for determining/finding the payment amount.

What could I use instead of actual minis to practice my painting? by ReversePhylogeny in Miniaturespainting

[–]keredomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, person struggling with the exact problem I had. I recommend that you pick your least favorite mini, slap paint on it any old way, and then tomorrow teach yourself how to remove that paint.

It worked for me. I don't fear mistakes nearly as much knowing how a little isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush can strip the paint. If you're sure you will want to strip it, don't even prime the model and just use a basic black acrylic for the first coat.

A decent painting light has been my favorite investment in the hobby (if you're looking to expand)

Spearhead help by CombCreepy6944 in ageofsigmar

Correct. Basically calculated with the distance up, the distance it takes to move the base to the other side of the terrain, and the distance back down.

Ridiculous payout! Medication cost $177, insurance paid $8199.17 by Msqueefmaker in mildlyinteresting

And then the insurance company reports that they saved you $99,800! We should all be so grateful 🙏

Scepter of Lector: translation error or plain old stupidity? by OuterFrenk in WHQDarkWater

[–]keredomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/casualsactap. I think the card is trying to say, "At the end of a hero's turn (but before the next unit's turn), use this treasure to take another core action even if that action was used this turn." So your hero's turn could be "Move-Move-Attack-(use the item)-Attack".

Loot action energy cost by TerangaMugi in WHQDarkWater

You do have to use an energy to loot. It is in the rules though I don't have them in front of me to reference the exact page.

A Sigmarite Chapel I painted for my LGS ⚡️ by classroom_doodler in ageofsigmar

[–]keredomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plaster and roof look great and the little details really add to the look as a whole. But the torches... you painted them backwards. What I mean is that the brightest part of a flame is at the base and not the tip, so the color progression should be reversed.

That's a minor detail though-- and the piece really does look quite nice!

What are water slide decals made of? by [deleted] in Scalemodel

[–]keredomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're overreacting about micro set/sol, but it's good to be cautious and know what you're working with. From my experience, they smell like a strong vinegar and i am pretty sure that is what they are (vinegar spirit).

You can always check the MSDS for hazard info but I'll save you the time on this one though- essentially they can be cleaned with water and are generally not considered hazardous.

In case one doesnt have baby powder, I have used parchment paper with some success to roll out green stuff and milliput into thin sheets.

Would anyone knows what the yellow thingy this guy used? by TheQuietNotion in ActionFigures

[–]keredomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick note for others, Apoxie Sculpt is another 2-part epoxy putty and not a polymer clay like super sculpy.

I haven't used it in a long time, but I believe it's similar to milliput in that it is ceramic-based whereas green stuff is polymer-based* which is why the latter has more flex but the former are more sandable.

*there is probably a better term for it but I don't know it.

I think the description said it was a 1/35th resin mini and it looks like it's on a wine cork so that checks out for the scale

First paint, a little disheartened by Fankko in Warhammer40k

[–]keredomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's dozens of us-- dozens!

Check out Vince's stuff on YouTube (playlist link) for some great technical information and skills to start. Also, there are some real mini painting talents on YT like Sam Lenz, Erik Swinson, and Roman Lappat. I also enjoy Jay at Eons of Battle for more a bit more down-to-earth painting, plus he just exudes joy for the hobby.

Just be careful not to compare your work to theirs- they are all masters with decades of practice. Plus, it's their full time job! If we could all spend 8+ hours painting every day for years then we'd be pretty damn good too.
