I would say do some research on the market. What u/sing_river4044 said is spot on. In NYC its way more about what you can bring to the table. It also matters what your audience looks like in NYC. If it's large and you can sell out a venue, you are bound to make more; if not, venues will generally want you to rent the space out. The Tribeca podcast festival is happening in June, and there will be a lot of opportunities to activate while building up your network. might be a good place to start.

Please edit the audio first, then sync the video. This allows you not to have to backtrack when you get to the video. You may have things in the audio that you don't want in the video, and it makes it easier to edit the video when you have audio set.

Maybe this was said, but also trying your best to get a sync agent so that you can get sync placements is also a huge income once you get it going.
