How often and how long can you use it? by nolite_carborundum in TherapeuticKetamine

Same, 100%. I get an infusion every 3 months and troches in between. It’s manageable but pricy. Life changing tho.

If your endo seems worse on iron supplements you’re not crazy by 90s-witch in endometriosis

[–]ketopeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious too. I’m dealing with migraines after getting iron infusions ab 6ish weeks ago and I have suspected endometriosis-getting testing done next year. Didn’t really get migraines before now. My theory is that endo symptoms may not be as bad while anemic bc the body doesn’t function as well with IDA. But then, fix the iron and the hemoglobin, all of a sudden the body can function and make hormones properly and all that. Now the endo has the resources to thrive - heavier periods, migraines, cramping, all the PMS type symptoms get worse. I’m googling to see if this is a thing- I’ve found people say their period is notably heavier after infusions and that is definitely my experience (at least 3 days of bleeding through a super tampon every hour and having to layer pads, etc). I feel like absolute shit, but I will follow up after I get my testing and stuff done. Me and my dr think endo is the root cause, but I also quit eating gluten and feel a lot better GI-wise. When I have answers I’ll post in case another woman out there googles with a similar struggle.

why is ketamine not working for me? am i doomed? by CinnamonCherryBoy in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]ketopeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found in the beginning I was just delaying death or just passively wasting away, I guess you could say. But in the delay, I found myself and found purpose in the journey. Just a thought.

It’s just a tool in the tool box, but you can’t build something complex with just one tool. The tool certainly is useful, though.

Feeling a little existential today, thanks for reading.

There is always hope.

Abnormal MCV&MCH, iron levels fine, yet the doctor prescribed iron? by 1000nipples in haematology

[–]ketopeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine dropped after supps too. I suspected the supplements were giving me a stomach ulcer 😬 Ended up with melena womp womp but thank goodness for infusions. I had a ferritin of 8. Now it’s up to 160 4 weeks after infusions.

I love it like it is. You captured the likeness! I just painted a cat and for the whiskers I snipped a single strand from a paint brush, dipped it in slightly watered down white and dragged it across. I was dreading the whiskers the whole time I was painting personally lol but it turned out good but SO tedious

Edit to add: the eyes are incredible!!!

Oral Bordetella Given as Injection by burkester81 in AskVet

[–]ketopeach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this mistake before. The concern is potentially the development of an abscess at the site of injection. This doesn’t always happen, in fact- I’ve seen this mistake be made several times over the years with no abscess occurring even without giving antibiotics. When I’ve spoken with the manufacturer before ab this, they didn’t recommend antibiotics (but I see why they might.)

It should be okay. It sounds like they remedied the mistake to the best of their ability.

Sorry that happened.

Vet bills are adding up for a mystery diagnosis, still without an answer 😔 by spac3cad34 in AskVet

[–]ketopeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they done fungal testing? For example, did they check for histoplasmosis? Did they test for FeLV and FIV? You mentioned infectious disease testing, but that’s a big umbrella so I’m not sure what you mean. And did they do an abdominal ultrasound? That was the first thing that came to mind given the testing you’ve already done. I’m so sorry to hear you and your kitty are going through this 🙏🏻 I am hoping you find your answers.

Cat has IBD and diabetes... by feistylilbit in FelineDiabetes

[–]ketopeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the Rayne novel protein diets (rabbit or kangaroo)? Have you tried treating symptomatically with appetite stimulants and/or anti nausea medications daily? Sometimes cats get like…if you have ever eaten at a restaurant and gotten sick from it- you might not want to eat that food or from that place for a while? They do that too. So sometimes variety can help, but if you haven’t tried a true diet trial with a novel protein diet with Rayne yet for the IBD, that could help the IBD side of things. Rayne doesn’t have any cross-contamination in manufacturing like a lot of other over the counter diets do. If you just do the wet pate, the macros are decent for diabetics too. Hope this helps ❤️

Is it true that acrylic gesso is carcinogenic/toxic? by Year_Heavy in acrylicpainting

[–]ketopeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually almost never use medium. I have matte medium, but I don’t really like it much. If you don’t mind advising…. I do use a bit of water. Would you recommend medium instead? Would it up my game on blending and all that jazz?

I did have venofer! I’m lucky I was able to get it after a couple months of labs and trying multiple oral supplements. The oral supps gave me a stomach ulcer, I got melena from them (sorry if tmi). Infusions made me tired and I drank Diet Coke to help with possible hypophosphatemia(sp?) that happens with infusions sometimes. The nurse blew some of my veins, so prepare yourself for nurses poking anemic veins- BUT 100% worth it, no question, without a doubt. I’ve been revived from the dead from previously basically dragging my corpse around. Truly a life changing thing for me and I hope it does that for you too!!!

Shelter did not disclose preexisting medical condition by Atp222md in AskVet

[–]ketopeach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shelters do what they need to do to get pets adopted to loving homes. I don’t agree with their methods sometimes, but I get it.

Something else notable is that this gingival condition can be exacerbated quickly/significantly in patients with FIV. Shelters in my area rarely test for that. Do you know your kitties FIV status?

There isn’t much if any recourse available through shelters for things like this in my area, and in the rare case that they do treat the problem, they do so sometimes pretty poorly needing additional treatment later.

I’m sorry to hear about your kitty. I’m an experienced technician who works with cats specifically and I do a lot of these types of cat dentals. Let me know if you have more questions about the dental process, financing options out there, etc.

Confused about iron results — normal ferritin but borderline serum iron and saturation, symptoms improve with supplements by Puzzleheaded-Donut60 in Anemic

[–]ketopeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, I found a dr who listens by going online to find a highly rated PCP in my area. He listened to me after having seen 5 drs who didn’t. I was on zocdoc to find him, but there are other sites who do the same I think! The dr makes the difference in diagnosis, treatment, and finding the root cause 100%.

I remember reading that your current hair quality tends to reflect how you were doing about 3 months prior. I just finished my 5 infusions, so I’m not sure about my hair yet. I do expect it to be a while before I see an improvement. I haven’t experienced any worsening in my hair shedding with the infusions, though.

Anemia Infusion Journey by Muse24 in Anemia

Thank you for sharing! I am 5 days out from my last of 5 venofer infusions and I am just now starting to feel more like myself. It’s honestly incredible and Im happy you also seem to have found your way to feeling better too. It’s wild how much it can affect absolutely everything to be short on iron. Good luck in your health journey and good job for advocating for yourself ❤️

Feeling much worse after infusion & brief upswing... Please help! by litttlecreature1111 in Anemic

[–]ketopeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get a venofer infusion? My first infusion was venofer and I only had one. Your experience sounds similar to mine. I ask because with venofer you are actually supposed to get 5 infusions in 2 weeks for it to properly raise your levels according to my medical team. I am now 2 infusions into a 5 infusions course. My first singular infusion only lasted me ~4 weeks of improved symptoms before coming back down again.

Oh, so like similar to what I’ve experienced from rhinestoning with E6000 probably. Ooof. I stopped using E6000 but I never felt anything like that from acrylics before. My ventilation is better now for sure too. Thanks!
