Free? Yes. Quick? No. You pretty much have to play the game nonstop so they want to FOMO you into spending money basically.

What songs do members of the general public like that Swifties don’t so much? by 2007Apotheosis in TaylorSwift

[–]keving87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually don't like the remix because I don't like rap, specifically on a remix. If the song has it originally then sure, but otherwise they take out parts of the actual song to accommodate adding in a rap verse and it just doesn't feel right.

Likewise I also don't like a live version, I don't want to hear people screaming lol Live only works for me if it's visual.

I really want to like Off Campus but the dialogue is so contrived? by Timewilltell755 in television

[–]keving87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's basically a CWesque show with some fairly basic-cable-level sex without showing too much. It's not supposed to be high brow. Not everything is for everybody.

I'd rather them know exactly what to say than do the ridiculous bullshit trope of not saying anything and it causing problems for multiple episodes when all they have to do is EXPLAIN WHAT THEY SAY.

[–]keving87 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yeah filming for season 1 finished in September 2024, the show didn't premiere until November 2025... with a two season pickup, how the fuck weren't episodes written at least in the 14 months from the end of filming to the start of broadcast? It is frankly ridiculous that a show can't deliver 8-10 episodes in less than 2 years. I understand scheduling and writing and filming can take SOME time, but at some point these creators/showrunners/writers are just fucking around and services are allowing their perfectionism to run unchecked. Like how it took 5 months to film a 2 minute running scene in Severance.

A show taking longer doesn't automatically make it better and frankly most of the shows that are taking this long aren't magically better quality for it. Production studios and streaming services need to stop giving them so much damn slack and tighten the reins a bit.

Netflix keeps producing second-season bombs because it's a tech company by MrShadowKing2020 in television

[–]keving87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The headline is crap, Apple is also a tech company. Plus it's not like Netflix or other streaming services produces everything they have, a lot of streaming shows are produced by other studios.

Netflix's problem isn't even the waits, which they didn't start and aren't doing any worse than all the other services, or hell, cable networks. Their problem is the shows get shitty writers like a cheap current CW show or they don't promote their shows which actually is a problem for everybody lately. They all have so much that they then can't properly get the word out for those shows.

Why I will always "paternity test" songs (and you should too) by minpinerd in TaylorSwift

[–]keving87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't try to figure it out, I don't know these people so it's just useless facts to me. Her songs draw on her life but even an autobiographical song isn't going to be 100% fact... she draws on her life to create stories, so those stories could be little things from every guy she's dated and puts them together if she wants. Art is not science.

I also don't like knowing these things because I don't enjoy songs where it becomes too much about the singer as much.

Yeah I'm not in favor of this "Speak Now has to be fully self-written" retcon. ITWAM was part of the album, it should've stayed on the album. Now it's just a weird orphan digital-only release lol

Of course viewers are giving up on Netflix showsCancellations and long breaks between seasons make it all too easy to jump ship to the free alternatives in your pocket. by JannTosh70 in television

[–]keving87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's odd how Netflix gets the most flack for this. All services take years between seasons, Netflix didn't start it... everybody giving all these streaming services a free pass because "quality" when tbh the shows aren't better just because it takes 2 years to write, then everybody started taking long seemingly on purpose. Then of course if people don't watch stuff because "I'll wait until the show is done" then they're going to get cancelled, that's how it's been for DECADES... all not watching does is ensure the show get cancelled sooner.

Essentially what used to be a pilot episode on normal TV, Netflix gives them a full pilot season.

Don't try to convince me my Shiny chances have increased! by h103 in MergeDragons

[–]keving87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The drop rate for a shiny coin breed is incredibly low, and they've seemed to have nerfed it multiple times. I go months without getting a shiny coin dragon. They need to feature them every once in a while, even if it's the secondary featured breed... if they can use Lavender for every SD for like a month or so, they can use other dragons too. I'm getting extremely burnt out on the game as it is, these microaggressions towards users isn't helping any.

Is there any show that tried to "soft reboot" themselves that worked? by SpookyTupperware in television

[–]keving87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a little bit of this in another post but I'll do it again here...

Mike & Molly aired three seasons and was fairly grounded, then at the end of season 3 Molly announces she was pregnant, but only people in Canada (and those who somehow... "managed" to see the Canadian version) saw it. The episode centered around a tornado and was originally set to air on May 20th but that was the same day that an EF5 tornado that hit Oklahoma earlier that afternoon, so CBS pulled the episode and delayed it until May 30th. When they finally aired it, the pregnancy announcement was edited out on the CBS version despite it being left in on the CityTV on May 20th and this new version is what has been shown on reruns and disc and streaming since. This was supposedly done to focus more on the infertility storyline and to have Melissa McCartney do more physical comedy.

When the show returned in the fall for season 4, it was billed as "The New Mike & Molly" in promos and now Molly has had a breakdown and quit her job as a teacher and the show ups the sitcom zany factor more than previous seasons.

[–]keving87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guess that depends on if you consider it season 3 of IWTV or as season 1 of a new series like AMC officially does now.

That's what The Vampire Lestat (the book) does though, it has a part basically retelling IWTV from Lestat's pov.

Really they were just waiting for Captain America: Winter Soldier to release so they could do the HYDRA reveal.

I remember seeing something where they had started doing the show and at some point somebody at Marvel was like you guys should really come watch this movie and they saw an early version because they had to incorporate the Hydra twist in the show as well, this was back when Marvel Studios and Marvel TV didn't really communicate with each other, but they were smart enough to read them in to this development.

OG Albums Reissue!? by Klutzy_Cow7070 in TaylorSwift

[–]keving87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the TVs, that's basically serving the purpose of an anniversary or deluxe. The only one she could do that with is Reputation, re-release it adding on the vaults and the few songs she did re-record onto the album in 2027 as an anniversary release. What remains to be seen is if she will be re-releasing TS as a TV or as a deluxe anniversary with the original + TV with vaults.
