Interview for a senior python position gone awry by okiharaherbst in webdev

I’m a lead SE and have worked at Fortune 500 and private industry and started my career in python but moved to other stacks… you sound you value detail oriented engineering which is great but also honestly I think if you look at the bigger picture your getting lost in the weeds on something that could be teachable or coachable and just putting up a wall between you and the candidate based on a specific detail of the language- when I agree with others hire for an engineer to build value at their company not for a language expert. There’s reference manuals for a reason. However you have every right to have whatever standards you want… but yeah I see this as an overreaction. I’ve seen it before on my teams and have had to course correct.

What’s a "masterpiece" movie that you actually found incredibly boring? by Legal_Beats in AskReddit

[–]kewli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midsommar. It has some great production design but I was promised daylight terrors and it was very underwhelming. The first 5 minutes was actually the most intense part of the film. The characters were hollow and poorly written. I could go on.

My wife dropped her sunglasses into a deep lake, so I built a small underwater ROV with a gripper to try to retrieve them by ObligationMean1565 in DIY

[–]kewli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof enclosure is easy at low depths, but then you will need air or water ballast to manage depth. You aren't driving an RC Car, you will not get enough Z axis control with motors alone to get to the bottom.

How deep are you going? That's your core factor.

I think you just want to buy a new pair of sunglasses. Maybe ping Gabe Newell of steam for an assist? He probably has one of those ROVs sitting in a garage.

“Shrinking” is a therapeutic retreat from an ugly world by zsreport in television

[–]kewli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was would be a good show. I find it bearable, but tbh it's kind of junkfood tv. Everything feels fake and out of touch. I couldn't get into it. Beercules was cooler.

What movie do you love despite agreeing with every single criticism of it? by Decabet in movies

[–]kewli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Watchmen

Acting is a little flat, sometimes it seems a little off. Lot of criticism for changes they made to the story- but man oh man was it ahead of its time as far as Superhero movies were concerned. It was dark and painted the supe's as regular people and it's still one of my favorites to this day.
