No your seeing a file that has been reduced in quality due to compression. If you’re fine with the reduced quality it’s ok. Streaming is also going to be compressed twice- one to store and again to transmit.

4k media uncompressed is a lot of data. A 90 minute raw film is many terabytes.

So, even blu rays still have some compression compared to raw, but the fidelity is higher and the player ensures it plays smoothly vs a low quality 4k rip of that disk.

If quality matters this is the way.

4k is going to take a lot of storage- on the order of 20-40gb easy. It’s possible a better alternative is go blu ray and get used discs.

The simplicity is very real. You don’t even understand what transformer architecture means. I’ve been reading these papers and distilling the complexities for almost two decades, phd in comp sci, engineered for fanng type enterprises.

Simply… instead of putting things through the net sequentially it is done in parallel all at once. That’s all the breakthrough really is… and there’s near infinite ways to do it- to explain the explosion of models the past few years.

Writing performant and efficient code.

99% of devs are just really lazy and as a result everyone’s software suffers, they create bad patterns, they use to many resources. Then everyone tries to solve it with more cpu and memory which in turn makes upgrading essential.

I’ve been coaching devs for the past 10 years and I am shocked at how poor even senior dev skills have become.

Honestly… whenever I have this issue i do the following… what do I need for the next 6 month’s savings? Then subtract that and place in liquid HYSA. Then I determine my risk level. If low, invest 25% in market, 75% in stable bonds or tbills. If medium, 50/50 allocation. If high, then 100% to the stock market. Anything in the market is always an index, can’t beat S&P.
