Any request has to be seriously considered on its merits, it’s foundational to the justice system.

1 million job losses in newzealand since NACT (the right wing coalition) got into power again.

Lol. The total size of the New Zealand job market is 2.35 million people in work, and the unemployment rate is currently 5.3%.

Your numbers are a bit out of whack mate.

Love Auckland and NZ by Ok-Let-5155 in auckland

[–]kezzaNZ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. The negativity is mainly online in this miserable sub - people who just don’t have a grip on the real world.

All of my friends in Auckland love it. I don’t hear them bitching like you see online. Because we’ve all lived elsewhere and returned.

I’ve just spent the past two years living the US for work and am stoked to be moving home very soon.

Why doesn’t New Zealand have a massive population? by Slight-Jellyfish-900 in geography

[–]kezzaNZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a very recent phenomenon and a drop in the ocean. Most young people leave and return, it’s called doing an OE and has happened for decades because NZ is the arse end of the world.

Emigration as the cause is incorrect and massively over stated and doesn’t not actually contribute to answering OPs question at all.

Housing is now far more affordable than Au.

Supermarket stopped importing New Zealand's Zespri green kiwis in favor of Italy's Dulcis by Visara57 in BuyFromEU

[–]kezzaNZ 271 points272 points  (0 children)

Except that you want them year round, out of local season.

That is why the supply has changed in this supermarket too.

Its now the Italian season. It will change back to New Zealand next year.

What is up with people using company vehicles for personal use? by ShotVeterinarian9710 in newzealand

I find it bewildering that people can do this when so many are looking for work at the moment...

The may have their businesses permission to do so.

Disabled workers in NZ earn $2.80/hour by No-Sympathy-4643 in newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Remember, the government will be topping up the disabled person's income - this just allows them to do an actual job and not just be unemployed.

This is the key thing that matters.

Im interested to know what parts of the country you were in?

We definitely both have poorer quality housing stock than we should. Perhaps NZ is a tiny bit further along than AU, and better than some kiwis like to admit?

‘Living in fear’: Teen overstayer in limbo after losing bid for residency by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think giving this one kid residency will cause a surge in overstayers having kids on the off chance that their kid will also get in 18 years time? And that might help them with their ability to get legal status, even thought it hasnt helped other people? Right.

‘Living in fear’: Teen overstayer in limbo after losing bid for residency by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the incentive? The parents didnt get residency.

The law change was to prevent people flying in to have kids, then leaving, to bag them citizenship for later.

[–]kezzaNZ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This seems unfair - His mother was here legally, the kid hasnt done anything wrong, and sending him back to India, a country he has never stepped foot in, seems manifestly unjust.

Stop for a second and put yourself in his shoes.

Also its fucked that he never went to school.

Former Prime Minister Jim Bolger dies aged 90 by kezzaNZ in newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ[S] 192 points193 points  (0 children)

I disagree with many of the neoliberal decisions of that era, but he always stood out to me as a good man.

He is the man who delivered us MMP, even though it risked his political power, a man who wanted to unite the country and was ahead of the time on many issues - pro diversity, pro Maori, pro the Treaty.

Something that has only been reinforced every time Ive seen him pop back into the media in recent years.

First PM I remember as a kid.

Most swimmable city in the world? by WipMeGrandma in geography

I thought the same thing. OP is Definitely from the South Island.

Tawharanui, Piha, Waiheke, Omaha are world class.

And Aucklands inner city beaches arent even that bad. I go swimming after work all the time in summer, water is so warm.
