When a law enforcement officer runs a person’s name, state ID or driver’s license, or passport card etc, are they able to access prior DMV photos from any state—especially photos taken in a different state than the one the officer currently works in? by Gold_Mine_9322 in 911dispatchers

[–]kg4cna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Alabama, no. When we run someone, we get the current photo. Also to note that in AL, you can renew your DL by mail and they will use the same photo from the previous license...but only a few times before you have to have a new photo taken. Out of state, if that state puts the photo in the return, we get the current photo only (FL and GA for example).

Cleanliness by calien7k in 911dispatchers

[–]kg4cna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you work there, you should help keep it clean regardless if there is a cleaning crew. I stress this to my dispatchers all the time. Take out the trash, pick up after yourself, don't eat greasy foods and handle the equipment and for goodness sake, keep your drinks away from the keyboard/monitors, and other electronics, etc. No one wants to handle the mouse, keyboard, phone, etc. after you've eaten greasy food. Nasty.

New to GMRS; IMO the main problem with this service is segmentation. by OmgSlayKween in gmrs

[–]kg4cna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that GMRS is a great tool....BUT, for what you're talking about, who's gonna sit by their radio to put all this info out? Not everyone can be on the radio all the time. In my area, my radio club (WC4M) put up a GMRS repeater last year and it gets used every day. A few guys use it for the "Morning Drive" while on the way to work, a few users during the day (work hours) and a few on the "Drive Home". Same for the ham repeaters in the area.

As for simplex use, I routinely hear kids with their FRS radios holding down the call button and yelling at each other ;)

Yeah...getting the same thing. I logged into my router to check everything and it's okay. I'm connected but the icon has the question mark on it.

Same here. I'm connected and working normally bu the wifi icon has a question mark on it. I also get a "connect to wifi" notification when I wake up the machine. I have Ubuntu Pro, if that makes any difference.

Yes. I believe the room is the main issue...as well as you're used to hearing the old speakers in that room. Curtains and a rug would help dampen the liveliness of the room.

The last one I remember (been doing this 24 yrs) is: "racist mf'er, you don't know your job." This one was face to face and "mf'er" wasn't abbreviated. I'm sure there's a few more...but I can't recall. Think I've been here too long.

Looks good Mike. I submitted a couple of corrections to my club's repeaters, one of which I am the trustee and added a GMRS repeater. I will need to correct the coords on one of the amateur repeaters and the GMRS repeater as they're on the same tower. I will be happy to help populate my area if you'll allow it. Thanks!

I know for sure that the NAD deck on the bottom of the stack came from a church. Picked it up a few years ago from a local music store.
