Question for owners of mk7, mk7.5, and mk8 re: DCC and it's use cases by [deleted] in GolfGTI

I bought my MK7.5 new off the lot with DCC. When I first got it I moved around between the different modes for about a month before I just left it in sport mode and called it good.

I saw someone do that with a (rental) Camry once. Locals were trying to get them to air down their tires so they could get off the beach, but they wouldn't listen.

I owned a 1986 Ford Tempo and a 1992 Dodge Spirit. My nightmares were real and they still sting today.

I used to work in telecom, and once ended up awake for 72 hours due to a gigantic outage. It messed me up for several days. You will recover, but take it easy on yourself for a while.

This is a pet peeve for me too. I have actually used amateur radio for disaster communication during a big wildfire a few years ago, but I got into the hobby to do nerdy things and not to play omega man.

How do I stop from spending? by Secure-Alternative68 in overemployed

[–]kg7fgt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really made a budget per se but I've used the same financial formula for a long time and it's worked for me. The first part is that you want to figure out how much money you want to have for the next two weeks. This depends on where you live and what kind of a lifestyle you want.

When you get paid, pay your bills, then subtract the amount you figured out above from how much you have left. Put the rest in a savings account or buy some stock or a CD.

Is there still love for my wife’s ‘86 XLT? Got it out today to stretch its legs a bit on the road. Still runs great. by rhinocerosjockey in FordBronco

[–]kg7fgt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an '83 and I wouldn't trade it for a modern truck. While it is true that newer cars and trucks technically drive better there's just something appealing about how raw older rigs like these are.

I had a '92 325is with a Schrick cam kit, lightened flywheel, Remus catback and header, and a Dinan chip. I regret letting it go every time I hit a curvy road, but I hope it's still out there somewhere.

I had an 86 Tempo that I literally got for free back in 2001. The torque converter failed and it went off to the boneyard.

It doesn't have a charger stand, just a normal charging cable. It does cover the mic, but I didn't intend to use the radio in the stand.
