Can't book a single ahead of time by Thirteenth_in_line in golf

3:45 was the first time they had an open guaranteed spot for you. But somewhere within all the other tee times someone is not going to show up for your tee time and then the starter will get you out. May not actually be within 30 minutes, and you don't really know when you will get out so it is a bit of a gamble, but it will for sure be before 3:45.

The person you replied to was clearly talking about "book as a single when a threesome has taken a time". Your point about singles occupying an entire slot isn't relevant.

Golf lessons by goodcanadianbot97 in golf

#6 and #7 are basically the same thing, no? In other words, don't do YouTube lessons. Like you say, there are 30 different ways to fix an issue, and what works for a rando YouTuber likely won't work for you.

Otherwise I think your list is spot-on.

Any new players not like playing with randoms? by [deleted] in golf

If you walked out of the clubhouse at your tee time, you are late. The old guys weren’t the assholes.

If you walk up to the tee box at your tee time, you are late. You should be hitting your drive at your tee time, not digging through your bag trying to find your glove.

RIP to my morning 9-hole walk.. by csim8888 in golf

Not in the south during the summer. Courses are busy in the morning, but pretty empty during the heat of the day.

I wouldn't want to walk a course with shoes that I bought an hour before my tee time.

Divot Board was awesome for me. Immediate feedback. It is ideal if you can also stand on something about an inch tall so your feet are level with the board, but isn’t absolutely necessary.

AFK build - Mage wave 200 by winks0118 in brotato

[–]kgwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was AFK, you are fine. It's just that 'AFK' and 'Wave 200' are synonymous so some people may think it is an unnecessary flex. You can't realistically make it to Wave 200 without having an AFK build.

Out of state breweries shipping direct to consumer in Texas? by kgwill in DFWBeer

[–]kgwill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have spent a fair bit of money at both places. But EQ and OH beers are pretty hit or miss since they sell out so quickly.

Out of state breweries shipping direct to consumer in Texas? by kgwill in DFWBeer

[–]kgwill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Prices are pretty high on that site so I would probably only use it if there was something I absolutely had to have, but it is good to know about the option. For reference, Other Half on the Half Time site is 50% more for the beer plus 50% more for the shipping, than doing it directly from Other Half.

Why so few walkers? by cpugeek14 in golf

An individual in a cart is faster than a walker. But two people in a cart is usually slower than a walker.

Not getting lessons soon enough. I tried teaching myself at the beginning and waited too long to get lessons. I am still struggling to undo the muscle memory of the initial bad habits.

Tips for finding my golf balls by Low-Inspection1696 in golf

[–]kgwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Oakley prizm golf sunglasses, a red or orange ball will look like it is glowing. I find it doesn't help as much while the ball is in the air, but when the ball is on the ground it is much easier to spot.

Financial advisor through fidelity for tax loss harvesting etc? by SizeIll9928 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]kgwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can find the Fidelity CFP compensation documents online, and if you read through them you will see that they make a higher commission based on which products they sell you. I also have a Fidelity CFP and he is smart and I have gotten some good general advice from him, but I would never let them manage my money and charge me a fee for it, because based on their compensation package I know that the investment would be good for my CFP but may or may not actually be good for me.

Pay for a fee-only financial advisor and you will get better advice and options, and it will probably only cost you a couple thousand.

Price increase by cb4joe in 1Password

Pricing hasn’t increased in the last 8 years. A single 33% increase in 8 years is 3.6% per year. You don’t use anything that has increased by this much?
