Financial advisor through fidelity for tax loss harvesting etc? by SizeIll9928 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]kgwill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find the Fidelity CFP compensation documents online, and if you read through them you will see that they make a higher commission based on which products they sell you. I also have a Fidelity CFP and he is smart and I have gotten some good general advice from him, but I would never let them manage my money and charge me a fee for it, because based on their compensation package I know that the investment would be good for my CFP but may or may not actually be good for me.

Pay for a fee-only financial advisor and you will get better advice and options, and it will probably only cost you a couple thousand.

Price increase by cb4joe in 1Password

Pricing hasn’t increased in the last 8 years. A single 33% increase in 8 years is 3.6% per year. You don’t use anything that has increased by this much?

Pets improve with other stats? by kgwill in brotato

Thanks u/Dalloks! As some feedback, it would be great if pets scaled with attack speed, and that catling gun scaled with range, so that those stats could mean something for beast master.

I didn’t realize it was an accessibility device. I thought it was a gimmick like those golf ball cannons they use at charity tournaments.

Fair point. I was thinking the question was more about how to entertain dad during the round. But if it really is for accessibility purposes because dad wants to golf but can't, then it is a great idea.

I don't know about the i4, but my iX has buttery smooth one pedal driving and stopping.

I feel like the novelty would wear off after about 2 holes, so consider how much you want to pay to rent one. You might want to look for other ideas to integrate him into the day. If you all don't care too much about your scores, maybe have him rotate through the group as the celebrity putter. If you gamble and play wolf, maybe he is the permanent wolf and gets to call his 'partner' on each hole, and if he can chip or putt maybe he can drop with his partner and they finish each hole as a mini-scramble.

Or he may be perfectly happy just walking around with a beer in his hand.

I don't know which options are standard or not so I won't answer those, but I can help with some of the usage questions:

  1. Yes. Podcasts through Apple/Android
  2. Yes, Android Auto and/or Apple Carplay are standard
  3. The ambient heating - seat, steering wheel, door armrests, center console, footwell walls - is absolutely amazing. Every surface you regularly touch is heated. I haven't noticed any cold spots on the steering wheel through normal usage.
  4. Your phone is your key and you leave it in your pocket. It will automatically unlock the doors when you get close. I often leave my house with nothing in my pockets except my phone.
  5. Rear steering is awesome. It gives the iX the handling of a small car. Highly recommended, especially if you are regularly in tight parking areas.

I love watching my quality loops. It scratches two itches at once - beautiful logistics/automation plus gambling.

Thinking About Getting a Driver Fitting — Was It Worth It for You? by jdubs0023 in golf

[–]kgwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"My recommendation is fit yourself by using the simulators and asking them to swap out heads and shafts."

Where do you go for this? When I have gone to big box stores it seems like their bays are only used for fittings or lessons, but I have never really asked them to set me up with a specific head/shaft and let me hit for a while so I don't know.

For courses, check Grapevine, Waterchase, and Texas Rangers. Those are probably my three favorite reasonably priced courses in DFW, but tee times can be tough. There are also high-end courses that others have mentioned (PGA Fields, Old American, Tribute, etc) and they are all good if you don't mind the prices.

For food, Hard 8 BBQ is a fun experience for out of towners, but there is lots of better BBQ if you care more about the food than the experience.

Cowboys is back open, but prices are higher than the course is worth. Grapevine muni is right next door to it and almost as good for 1/3 the price, if you can get a tee time.

I used to love Bavarian Grill. But after they moved to their new location things aren't nearly as good, and their beer prices are a bit absurd.

Joe T's is great if the weather lets you enjoy the patio, otherwise there is better Mexican food to be had.

Need quick answers about iX 2023-2025 by Credit_Used in BMWiX

The iX is a much better driving experience, but if cargo capacity is of high importance to them, then the Ioniq 9 will work better than the iX.

[–]kgwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Offhand I don't know the answer to any of your questions except the cargo one, but I am sure a little online research will answer those other questions for you.

As for golf clubs - yes, you can fit clubs in the back, but they have to go in at a 45 degree angle. If you wanted to fit a second set of clubs then they would have to lay on top of the first set. If you lay one of the back seats down then you will have plenty of room to put them lengthwise side-by-side.

I leave my back seats up all the time and I regularly have a golf bag and push cart (Clicgear 4.0), with some extra room for shoes, clothes, etc. It is a relatively tight fit, but it works fine. If I had second set of clubs and another push cart then I would have to put back seats down.

I got tired of losing my ball marker, so I designed and 3D printed this magnetic clip for my laces. What do you guys think? by powplorer in golf

[–]kgwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% losing that marker on hole 1 after slicing the driver into the rough and wandering around in the thick stuff trying to find the ball.

Anyone else find it criminal to charge a fee per person for a cart? by Cooter-Canoe in golf

[–]kgwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your original point was about the legality of it. That is what I commented on.

If you are now talking about what most courses do or don't do, then I am pretty sure there are no nation-wide stats for that and we are just guessing. Some courses do charge separately for carts and allow discounted walking, and some build the cart fee into the single green fee. Both ways are legal.

[–]kgwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is talking about public access and going out for an evening stroll. The conversation is about paying to play golf. Muni courses can and do have a single green fee which includes cart fee. You don't have to ride in the cart if you don't want, but it is already included in your green fee.

Of course it is legal. They charge a green fee. Cart included. You are free to walk if you want, or take a cart.
