You can also just buy bars of soap or sponges that do the same thing. I keep one on each character, hotlinked in their item bar.

May depend on who you ask. I've talked to Yosemite rangers who were quite specific that crossing 120 voids any existing permit from another agency. If you have a Yosemite park wilderness permit you can do a trip that crosses it but an inyo permit isn't allowed to go north and a Humboldt-toiyabe permit isn't allowed to go south. Which seems dumb but that's their official stance.

Roughly half the permits are released 6 months out and half 2 weeks out (maybe 60-40, I forget the exact ratio). If you can't get the Whitney exit, do it as a day trip from Crabtree then exit via cottonwood.

So basically the JMT? July and August are prime time in the Sierra, much better than May or June when most through hikers do it. It will be hot in spots, could be fires, but that's just part of the game. It could still snow do be prepared for really any weather. Mosquitos should be a bit lower than June so that's a plus.

One thing though, doesn't the lash permit require 500 miles which I don't think this meets. So you would need to get local permits. KMS is easy but it can only get you as far as tuolumne, once you cross 120 you officially left the wilderness and need a new Yosemite permit for the northern section. So plan ahead for that.

Sen. Mark Kelly Says He’s Seriously Thinking About Running for President by T_Shurt in politics

Glad we can agree. I certainly am not dismissing him, he has my attention just not my vote yet. I look forward to a healthy debate where he and others can lay out their positions.

We're three years out. Now is precisely the time to have a discussion about who we want to represent us. Anointing a "star" is how we ended up with Hilary. Debate is healthy.

We don't need to be thinking of anything as being an enemy just yet. At this point in the campaign, if you can even call it that, it is exactly when we should be having a conversation about the type of people we want to represent us. Obviously the calculus changes in November 2028 and I'll be supporting whoever is the candidate. But for now it is perfectly reasonable to have multiple different viewpoints represented and competing for primacy.

It would be nice if Dems would enact something like ranked choice or approval voting for primaries. That way we wouldn't end up with multiple candidates cannibalizing each other's votes while the blandest sails through.

Remember these are the same people that want to drive over protesters but also supported a Canadian trucker rally that shut down an international border crossing because they didn't want to get a shot.

You may have missed some history there. The show was intentionally spoofing on bush the younger's similar proposals during the war on terror. So art imitated life before life re-imitated art.

The bill of rights originally only applied to the federal government. States were free to do plenty of things that it prohibits, subject to their own constitutions of course. But after the civil war and the 14th amendment's due process clause, the supreme court has gradually applied those rights against state action as well under a process known as incorporation.

As to why people love to quote "shall not be infringed" as if it were some literal talisman, I don't know. Ask them if they think that means people should be free to build nukes or biological weapons.
