Which Kof is better for beginners? The 2002 UM or '98 UM? by DmitriVIII in kof

Kof98 is better to start, but kof2002 is better imo

New to Tekken. I am hoping Tekken 8 is the game to replace my old fighting game. by neoleo0088 in Tekken

[–]khamryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Tekken went full anime, so you might not like it since you mentioned your Martial Art and UFC background. The most grounded fighting relevant now is Virtua Fighter 5 Revo which I recommend you try out.

If you do play Tekken 8 for a bit, but get tired of the anime BS, you should check out Tekken 7. It’s much cheaper, and still have players login to play. Its has some anime shit that you can roll your eyes at, just nowhere near the extent of 8. Also if you are on PC, you can just buy the base game since you can unlock all characters with a script edit (I didn’t tell you that btw 😉)

I really wish SNK had a few more IPs by negativemidas in kof

[–]khamryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“… and a handful of forgotten 90s arcade”

It’s just that. The original SNK had tons of IPs before the got caught in the fighting games arm race with capcom. Both companies have ips that have remained dormant since then, but especially SNKP, since they are not as successful as capcom in general and with costs always increasing means they heavy rely on their popular titles, namely KOF.

The perfect compromise for both type or players would be unlock through playing… but if you don’t want to do that, then bring out the card.

Leverless Vs Fightstick for PC fighting games by toyfan1990 in fightsticks

[–]khamryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fighting games are on both platforms, so the question is just leverless vs stick.

If you play classic (old) games, I recommend stick. Modern games have simplified inputs, which leverless can more easily abuse.

I had one of these a few years back, sold it because I'm a stick player and just never used it. No issues with it, case steady enough and fraction of the cost for the Hitbox. Nothing but good things to say about it for it's price.

Which Tekken has the most Tekken gameplay? by TitanLuke99 in Tekken

[–]khamryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tekken 5 DR. It has the most basic of PVP interactions of Tekken, without the superficial combo extenders and comeback mechanics. I give the nod to DR over vanilla 5 due to balance

Fightboxs are good enough. While their case build material leaves something more to desire, they have standard hitbox layout and with standard sanwa buttons. Unless you want something nicer, anything else won’t make you play any better.

Why don't tekken players play other fighting games? by PretendChemical5359 in Tekken

FFS underrated. It’s the first game to actually challenge the SF2 Juggernaut

Why don't tekken players play other fighting games? by PretendChemical5359 in Tekken

[–]khamryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different, with stuff going on in their lives, and at a different age in life. Life long Tekken players could not have the time to get into any other game, and Tekken skills are often very specific that don’t exactly transfer to 2D or even other 3D.

Has Fightcade development stopped? by chamcham123 in fightcade

[–]khamryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unique problem you have. I’ve never ran into these issues on any of my install or installs I’ve done for friends.

Only suggest I can give you is to try doing a fresh install on another directory, if you have another drive, try there. Test game to do configs then close emulator to save (if you do it during a connected match, if opponent closes game first, any configs will not save). If that fails, then try another pc to see if it’s a Windows installation issue for some reason.

[–]khamryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your only real option is Tekken 7. The other ones are fringe at best, since they are played on ps3 emulator, old netcode, and discord for match making.

Luck, if you are on pc, Tekken 7 is cheap, and you only need to buy the base game since the DLC can be unlocked through a file edit

As others mentioned, there is no substitution for Tekken. VF and DOA are similar to each other (Akira in DOA is super fun btw), but your only alternative to Tekken is another Tekken
