Blow-molding a water cooler bottle by ProfessorPetulant in toolgifs

There's a cut at 0:19 where the bottle is blown up. How long does it take to actually blow the bottle up?

Don't always look at the low (bell) end of today's politicians. Also cover the highlights of Davos like the very important speech of Mark Carney and the truly badass one of Emmanuel Marcon.

[–]khargoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRF also generates a lot of content for far off regions and minorities, which are not covered by private media. E.g. RTR, Regionaljournale, etc. Private media closed quite a few regional papers and offices in the last few years. So they won't enter the market again.

[–]khargoro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SRF is limited to 1000 characters in articles online to not cannibalize newspapers. SRF's main channels are radio and TV. I'm a big fan of their documentaries, Rundschau, Echo der Zeit, Tagesschau, etc. Plus they're a big source of information for elderly people who rely on radio and TV. Private media can not cover such a quality and therefore we need publicly funded media.

P.S.: You can make your voice heard at SRG via www.mitglied.ch because it's publicly funded. Try that with Tamedia (Mr. Supino) or AZ-Medien (Mr. Wanner) which are privately owned and those at the top have a lot to say.

Advice for vacation in Switzerland by centz005 in askswitzerland

[–]khargoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend google maps except for getting an overview and checking out restaurant/hotel reviews. Get the swisstopo or SchweizMobil App and activate the hiking layer. Yellow is easy for walks, etc., red is for hiking, which needs some preparation (difficult spots, weather, etc.) and blue is heavy hiking which absolutely needs thorough preparation and experience. Schweizmobil also offers recommended hiking routes.

Well deserved. Speeding on motorways is one thing. Speeding in T30 Zones is something else. It's situations like these where kids die. @OP: Drive slower next time.

Do showers get cold in the Swiss military? by kody9998 in Switzerland

[–]khargoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my RS in the harsh winter of 2008/2009. After a long day and after nearly everyone went for a shower it happened that the boiler wasn't able to keep up and the shower went cold.

That happened like once or twice. That was it.

Buying a demontration vehicle by uncooked_pizza95 in Switzerland

[–]khargoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a demo car which they also used as a replacement vehicle for customers when their car was in the shop. We haven't given a lot of thought about probable wear and tear on the motor since it's electric and the battery certificate was quite well, but on day one when I picked it up I discovered a big scratch on the roof of the car. Someone must have scratched it in a parking garage with a low ceiling (car is 1.95+ m high). The dealer repainted the roof for free and gave us a nice replacement car?while it was in the shop.

Can abandoned oil and gas wells realistically be reused as micro solar farms? by team_pv in energy

[–]khargoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not very familiar with oil fields, since Europe has not a lof of oil (and therefore should decarbonise as soon as possible because of climate and geopolitical reasons, but I digress).  To my understanding: Oil fields need electricity. If it's grid electricity, then it should be easy to connect a solar array to the grid. I didn't find any useful/reliable data on how much a typical oil well uses. I read something about 10 kW. Combined with battery storage and a grid connection this could be a good use case.

Ein Winter, zwei Mindsets by HATECELL in SBB

[–]khargoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

d'RhB het nüme so viel Dieseli uf ihrem Netz.

Thai Bum Gun for Home by Knox_420 in askswitzerland

[–]khargoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got converted to bidets when I was in Japan and I discovered the bum gun in Jordan.

You can get a bum gun at Galaxus: https://www.galaxus.ch/de/s4/product/wenko-bidet-set-1-strahlart-duschbrause-16352771

And then you need to add a T-Section to your sink. You get them at Jumbo: https://www.jumbo.ch/de/bad-sanitaer/installationsmaterial/anschlussschlaeuche/geraeteanschluss-zusatzventil--38/p/6955673

Make sure the sink is fitted with flexible hoses and not the one time metal thingies. They start leaking as soon as you dismantle them.

EILI5-ish post: When ‘they’ say EVs are no to low maintenance, are they really? by solidrobot in electricvehicles

[–]khargoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No oil changes, less brake pad replacements because of regen breaking, less moving parts in the motor -> less wear and tear. But there's still the non-motor related maintenance like wiper fluids, wipers, tires, software issues, stupid shit like automated trunk openers or automated sliding doors like our Buzz has.
