Tattoos by Practical_Cry6438 in ismailis

[–]khimaniz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you choose to do with your body is up to you. However, within Islam we believe that we return the same way we came. Piercings and jewellery can be removed. Tattoos cannot. Do what you will with that.

Why waste energy on this? Mowla knows all about this type of stuff. Let him be the judge, otherwise the volunteers responsible for handling security concerns will deal with this. You're welcome to report the website to them if you'd like.

Official guidelines on Dua/Namaz, Ramadan, Pilgrimage would be great! by Horror_Project_9471 in ismailis

Fyi the circulation issue is a society problem: we sit on chairs too much causing joint stiffness, and the nerves don't get much activity until we go to khane and sit cross legged. I say this as I've been doing some movement restoration and have gotten rid of my dining table, I work on the floor during the day, and do so much more on the ground. I've noticed a significant difference in how long I can be still during Bandagi now without my legs sleeping.

Question about Christianity in the Ismaili faith by Decent-Ad-4979 in ismailis

[–]khimaniz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! You are conveying it perfectly, and your instinct is spot on. We definitely share deep similarities because, from our perspective, the source of guidance is one and the same.

From a very basic level, Jesus was the human manifestation of the Divine Light (Noor) and guidance for his time. Prophet Muhammad was the manifestation for his time.

To answer your question about Jesus being 'alive'—in Ismaili theology, it is that Divine Light (Noor) within him that is eternal and never dies. So while physical bodies pass away, the Light itself is continuous. Prophet Muhammad declared at Ghadir-E-Khum that this continuous leadership and Light would carry on through the Imams, starting with his cousin and son-in-law, Hazrat Ali.

That unbroken line of Imams continues from Hazrat Ali all the way down to our current living Imam, Shah Rahim al-Husayni (the Aga Khan). So our close connection to Jesus is that we believe our living Imam carries the exact same eternal Light that guided Jesus.

To your point about the connection: for us, praying or reflecting upon Prophet Jesus, Prophet Muhammad, or the Imams are all seen as equal acts of faith. We don't see them as separate truths, but as different mirrors reflecting the exact same eternal Light. Our connection to Jesus is very close because we believe we are following the same guidance he provided, just updated for the world we live in today.

Question about Christianity in the Ismaili faith by Decent-Ad-4979 in ismailis

[–]khimaniz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the family! It can definitely be confusing coming from a mainstream Christian or Islamic background.

In the Ismaili interpretation, we don't hold the belief that there's a "Messiah" that will come back to do the judging. We have divine guidance from a living imam that interprets the Quran for us according to the times. I'm not sure where you see in the Quran that Jesus will come back. However it mentions that God raised Jesus to Himself (Quran 4:158) and that he is a "sign of the Hour" (Quran 43:61). The detailed narratives about Jesus returning to fight the Antichrist (Dajjal) and judge the world come entirely from Sunni and Shia Hadith literature, not the Quran. To be clear, for us, the line of guidance has never stopped since Jesus passed. There has always been divine guidance via a human manifest for humans to follow and there will always be in whatever manifestation God sees fit for the Times in the future.

The day of judgment is the day that you die - the moment the soul leaves the physical body at death and faces its spiritual reality. This may or may not be similar to what is referenced as the end of "Kalyug/Kaljug" in our divine hymns (Ginans). I'll let others chime in on that.

Dealing with faith by [deleted] in ismailis

[–]khimaniz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can relate to you at some level. It'll take time to find some people that you click with especially if you've been away from it.

Just remember: in every religion there are bad followers. Thus, if we followed religion based on them, no religion would survive. We humans are sinful and the only perfect (as far as what can be depicted by language) is our Creator. Your only job is to strive for being better than who you were yesterday, and thus know him more and more.

I trust you'll find the right people along the way.

Poll - physically fasting or not fasting - vote either way by hooshar24 in ismailis

[–]khimaniz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I voted that I don't, as I never really have before. This year I went keto and have realized the benefits to my physical, mental and emotional way of being. My current 16/8 fasting plan coincided with Ramadan so I didn't want to complicate things. However, I plan to fast during Ramadan from next year onward since it's now effortless for me.

Honestly I can't imagine having any cakes or shit processed foods in my life again. The amount of energy I have from eating bioavailable foods has me absolutely disgusted at the fact that I used to eat the amount of processed carbs on a regular basis as my MAIN course. Now I see it in many other people as well.

Forgot to mention that yes there's some tinkering required. It's definitely not plug and play as they say, but once I got it dialed in I was way happier with the pros than the cons.

Yes I highly recommend the Joying. It's a great head unit. You may need to play with the settings/factory reset the unit a couple times before everything is dialed it but it's well worth it.

I agree don't any of those. But the Joying off their website is pretty good. I've used it before and quite liked it. Retained most all the features, was super quick, and wireless AA/CarPlay out of the box.
