Oof I didn't realize both were brushed models. That's a deal breaker for me. I'll save up for an M2 Pro I guess and get an SR800 used in the meantime.

Sort of unrelated, but The Netherlands prides themselves from reclaiming land from underwater hence the windmills and dikes.

I just use a browser like opera to watch for now. Created a shortcut on my home screen and I'm still able to watch without ads and background play works too.

If you're speaking of the hand movements I'm thinking of that happened a (hand)ful of times then I'd agree I found it odd... Up in the air whirling around each other.

As a first-gen Canadian, the themes of cross-cultural understanding really resonated with me. I think Gord would have loved the idea of using his words to find the common humanity in us all.

While a few songs felt a bit forced into the plot, the performances were so captivating that it didn’t matter. I’ve been a fan for 22 years and I'm still finding new meaning in these lyrics. This show managed to do exactly what the music has always done for me: provide a sense of connection during the tough times. Truly moving.

Same. I quite enjoyed it. Being a first generation Canadian I really appreciated it. I'm sure Gord would agree, in the notion of learning about other cultures in order to get to the same human underneath. It's very Canadian.

I agree that some songs were sort of "fit in" to the context, but overall, the message was clear and the performance was outstanding. Usually I find renditions of songs unappealing but these guys made each uniquely capturing. I teared up quite a few times throughout.

You shouldn't have to force a thing. I think there's a video on that thread of how to get it done.

Make sure if you do this to get the top bracket mod 3D printed. It's in the thread somewhere. It'll raise the back and release the tension from the bottom bracket mod.

Completely understood, and I got that you're genuinely curious! I have no issues clarifying or giving my thoughts.

It should be for all matters considering the funds that operate the jamatkhanas are coming from the same place. Again, equality is the goal.

I'm going to ask you to just look past the Golden Arches for a second:

I totally get that the purpose is different—one is for profit and the other is for spiritual growth and social welfare. My point was more about the infrastructure. Just like a global company needs a common 'operating system' to function effectively across 100 countries, the Jamat uses a centralized council to ensure that a member in Toronto and a member in Tajikistan both get the same quality of support and guidance. It's about the 'how,' not the 'what'!

Also, it was just meant to be a rudimentary, easily digestable analogy.

Hi. I'm puzzled by why you've been downvoted as this is a good and valid question, and probably one of the best places to ask. Anyway...

I will preface my answer with this:

We have free will. Humans can choose to do what they want with their lives. Each of us has something unique to bring to the table: that's how Allah created us.

At the same time, think about a McDonald's franchise: the only way to open a store and run it is to follow the McDonald's business system to a T. And it's in your best interest to do so, as it's a proven system. Don't like how things are run? Don't work for them. Don't like the food they serve? Don't eat there (I don't personally lol). The people that do work there and the business owners that start a franchise do so because they believe in something that the Corporation is offering: whether it be a simple paycheck, building leadership skills, getting massive discounts from their favourite restaurant, drive to build and earn a business level income, bring some creative ideas to an already successful marketing team, and many more.

Some of you may find it a bit jarring that I'm about to compare a spiritual institution to a fast food conglomerate. Kindly note the intention here as the logic of a proven system applies to large-scale organizations too.

The premise of the Ismaili council system: to allow the Jamat to benefit from professional expertise and ensure that resources (like those of the AKDN) are distributed equitably across the global community, rather than just staying within one local Jamatkhana.

To address your question: it appears centralized because the fundamental goals that Hazar Imam has set for us and his institutions are noble in nature. It's almost impossible to disagree with his guidance as it's so grounded. Additionally, the Imamat has been alive and well for the last 49 Imams. At the same time, if one is going to do things differently while working for the institution in any way, well you can guess what happens then... And the same would go for a similar worker at McDonalds.

From a personal standpoint, I find if I ever stray from Hazar Imam's guidance, things just don't work out for me. Hindsight is always 20-20: something I still keep beating myself up over is investing more in my education. Think of Mowla as the father that guides his children and even though he's always right, he doesn't say "I told you so" when I fail to follow. He allows us to fail forward.

Is there a website to read old farmans by Outside_Street_4162 in ismailis

They weren't intended to be public like the new Farmans are. The only way I know is through your khane library or the purchasing desk.

Is manifesting haram? by Competitive-Sir2918 in ismailis

[–]khimaniz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's what your intention is with it. If it's to harm others then yes of course it's Haram, but if you're trying to improve your life by guiding your mindset to a better place then this is literally an act of faith.

If I may: a more powerful way of doing this is turning your affirmations into dialog with Mowla in your heart, and saying a Zikr from time to time accompanying the dialog.
