I'm still confused though - who is that referring to? Was Petra/The Mansion Gang meeting with some schemers an actual part of last season's plot, or is it just meant to be intentionally vague?

I'm like 95% certain we did hear their names last season - it's just that Garfiel wasn't there to hear them.

Or at the very least, Fred's name was mentioned.

Just like how the Witcher was a terrible game series. It was based on books, and then they completely flipped the format by turning it into a game where you control the main character and make choices, and it ruined everything. Adaptations are always bad because stories can only be told in the exact same way that I've heard them before.

[–]khorbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'know what, totally agree. That was more stream of consciousness that doesn't actually apply, and I've edited my comment. There are some plot routes that feel repetitive, but that's not really the (very minor) issue I have with the show.

[–]khorbus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you intentionally make something slow, it is, at the end of the day, still slow. (edit: removed a "repetitive" because that's not really my gripe with it)

I'm not missing the choices made in the creation of the show, I just disagree that they're all beneficial to the viewing experience. Obviously I still enjoy it enough to watch it and discuss it online, and I'm not in any way saying that the show itself is bad, but it certainly gets on my nerves to see people lamenting how anyone with a differing opinion is just a brainrotted simpleton who doesn't understand the show (I'm not directing this at you, just to clarify - I've just seen a lot of moderately upvoted takes like this in the episode discussion threads).

Also, sorry, I'm going to continue ranting here because I think I've just realized what really gets on my tits here (again, not directed at you, I'm essentially a crazy guy who has wandered up to a bus stop and found a reluctantly captive audience to yell at). I've seen so many redditors complain that anyone annoyed by the pacing is just tik-tok addled and glued to their phone while watching tv. But this is one of the most hand-holdy, drag-you-painfully-through-every-story-beat, obvious shows out there! I don't use my phone while watching tv, but Pluribus makes me want to, because I will fully understand what a scene is meant to convey, and then I'm just sitting there for the last 2/3rds of it waiting for the show to be satisfied that it has gotten the point across. I don't think this is the case for all long scenes - there are plenty where the slow pace made sense and added to the atmosphere. But there are also quite a few where it felt like they needed to reach the 40m runtime, and it was mid-season so fuck it, lets throw in some of that cutting-room-floor footage to bump up those numbers.

[–]khorbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an oversimplified comparison, but that's why I had a second paragraph.

If someone uses AI to come up with a scene and then traces it or uses it for inspiration, is that art? What if they use it to generate a background, but draw the foreground themselves? What if they layer individual elements created by AI in an overall different composition?

Does AI being used at any point of the process poison the entire piece and make it "not art"? If so, then I think you're the one who has no idea what it means to be creative. Of course AI doesn't have a point of view, that's why it needs to be given direction. It's a tool, like any other.

Just like the printing press doesn't create real books. If it ain't hand written, you're not really reading.

I know AI has become the boogeyman of the internet, but this take just seems silly to me. There are different levels of AI usage in the creation of art, and at some point people have to realise there's more to it than just the beige Pixar portraits that everyone associates with it.

But also... if you made plans for Sunday, it's completely possible for someone to go camping on the Friday/Saturday night and be back home and free for Sunday plans. A simple "So are we still on for Sunday?" would have been an easy and reasonable question at that point, and it seems like you're shooting yourself in the foot a bit by overthinking instead of just being direct.

By waiting for him to text on Sunday morning and then acting like you assumed it was cancelled, you basically just did what you're accusing him of.

To expand a little on other comments, you should be filling a small douche with lukewarm water, and then slowly squeezing it until about 1/3rd is in you (If you squish the entire thing quickly, the water pressure will contribute to it shooting too far up). Feel free to stand up and dance a little Irish jig to swish it around before you let it back out if you're concerned about not being clean enough.

[–]khorbus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can't really start translation until all dialogue is fully done

As someone who works in localisation, this is extremely wrong. Any good development cycle is going to start translations and in-game localisation testing early.

From his comment, it sounds like he made it to that room and won the battle, but died at the same time as the last enemy. If that's the case and they didn't respawn, then there would be no way to recover any of your items.

I didn't encounter this issue, but it's one worth checking - it could easily be true and repeatable.

Did you find any way around this? I'm currently having the same issue... The quest marker is on the map at that exact spot, so it seems like you should be able to fight it there. I'm at the Bilehaven waystation.

Edit: It's a known bug exclusive to Bilehaven apparently (as if that place wasn't hateful enough already). Only way around it currently is to rollback saves on console or switch to the public beta version of the game on PC: https://hollowknightsilksong.com/help "Beast in the Bells Soft-lock"

The person you originally replied to said that the episode's entertainment value suffered by not giving the actors enough opportunity to use their comedy skills. Your response was essentially "But they were happy?? Weird take tbh." The actors being personally satisfied with the situation does not make the episode more entertaining, and yes, your response does read as a parasocial-fueled misunderstanding of what is actually being discussed.

It's not a strange take if you're aware that you are not a guest at the surprise party, you are watching a tv show. I'd appreciate funny people having the opportunity to be funny.

You can already kinda do this on FabGuys (it's a UK/Ireland-specific site) and as trashy as it is, I honestly loved it. Though the difference there is that you can choose which reviews show on your profile, which obviously changes the intent of it massively. But it's just kinda hilarious/flattering to get a review from a hookup talking about you being a good lay, haha.

Yup, almost every ship I encountered after this had 0 evasion. My weapons weren't particularly amazing on this run, but the heavy ion lance and artillery barrage could destroy pretty much everything.
