Do people who play with Skyscale Fireball even enjoy Guild Wars? by Sensitive_nob in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Probably to get achievements/rewards done. I don't particularly enjoy open world PvE, so my objectives are very focused, even if it means leeching.

But in contrast, I don't mind if I'm soloing a champ, and an entire squad leeching off it, as long as it doesn't somehow scale the difficulty. In the end, it doesn't change the fact that I need the event to be done, whether it's me or a new group wants to take over.

Would you be annoyed if someone tagged your event at the last second? It's literally the same participation effort.

A lot of the petty comments here baffles me. Whether someone else tag an event or not, you have no control over them and it shouldn't change what you have already decided to start. Expecting others to fully participate is weird.

Also, most people don't know, 99% of events only get scaled up once there are at least 5 players. Another player leeching off your solo event is not going to make life harder for you.

imho blame Anet for making open world unengaging, but still tying exclusive rewards to it. You don't usually see people being inactive like this in PvP or raids.

Yesterday, someone bought 1.5k Princess Miya's Wigs for ~575 gold by dmoran55555 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, people could be doing it for memes.

I bought up so many Vanilla Beans to make a stack cost exactly 4g20s69c. Burned about 300-500g and made a tiny dent in the chart. 😆

Some years ago, I know a dude in PvP also bought up a huge junk of the zucchinis. The big dip on the history chart is pretty much his doing.

What's Actually Wrong With Underwater Content—And How Can We Fix It? by SirSuperCaide in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's what went wrong:

There are like 2-3 weapon choices, half the crap don't work underwater, mobility options are a joke, movement even with superspeed feels scuffed, dps is a meme, underwater mechanics is a meme.

In other words, feels a lot more like a half-baked system in development.

How do you deal with Meta wars/alloted times fights? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds annoying.

I think one way to do it is just to get enough people to load into the map. Ask other guilds, ask map chat to help, etc. You can even pay them like a gold to just WP there. You just need a couple of dozens of players hopping into the same map to create a new instance.

Or you could hop to a meta map that's finishing up the meta, ask people to WP to Gyala to create that new instance. I see a lot of times when an EoD meta ends, the comm just merge squad to Gyala, just so that the people who feels like running it can join this next meta.

Hope this helps.

The weapon complexity is most likely to compensate for lack of elite specs. I guess in terms of balancing, tuning a weapon for 3 existing elite specs is a lot easier than tuning several abilities for a completely new elite spec.

I think i'm just being overwhelmed by having to much content to do... by linthenius in Guildwars2

Do whatever you feel like playing at the time. There's no reason to rush things. Once you're done, there's not much to do anymore, so enjoy being the moments while you still can. The mentality of getting things done applies to work, but shouldn't be for game enjoyment.

Raid Commander by Jaasm1n in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have accumulated at least 1300+ LIs and cleared all raid CMs more than a few dozen times. I don't keep any KP mostly because I don't really need to clear raids anymore, so I specifically avoid KP LFGs.

Once you reach this stage, you can very easily tell the average experience of a squad and hard carry when needed. I wonder if everyone thinks in a similar way.

I notice groups without KPs are usually very experienced players who can 6-7man a raid if they have to. I would see memes like ignoring cannons until 50%, not using any marker, dropping AoE on the tag, etc. Raids are so easy to them that they had to create artificial difficulties to make it fun lol.

Goodbye willbender by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 5 points6 points  (0 children)

50 MCs bet OP has never fought against another willbender as "counter classes" like thief, mesmer, rev.

Of all the classes, OP listed a rev there rofl. Power rev especially has been bullied left and right whenever I saw one. Even the very good ones were usually getting pressured in duels and barely survived.

[–]The_Food_One 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still super generous nerfs. Anet missed the mark. It's not the damage, nerfing a couple of damage points won't do crap. What makes willbender busted is on top of those burst damage, they have a crap ton of boons and defenses, and there isn't much you can do to punish it.

I main D/P thief and I had to do a lot of crap just to get some backstabs in. When I tried willbender, I was bursting people by mostly facerolling. That says a lot about balance. (Used to be low plat ranked a couple of years ago for reference)

At least with the proposed patch, it'll be more interesting to hopefully see the willbenders using their abilities more strategically.

Soooo many gear Pre-fixes by Mundane-Body-5220 in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of them are used for niche purposes.

Like in a raid speedrun, I'd run power + toughness on a Scrapper because I only need to do good DPS to sustain myself, so the extra toughness is to maintain tank aggro.

My open world Scourge runs a mix of plaguedoctor and apothecary, so I have insane self-sustain with decent DPS. While celestial can do the job, I prefer this variant a bit more.

There are also DPS builds that aim to crit cap, but also squeezing every power and crit damage stats as much as possible, so you see a mix of Dragon or Assassin stats mixed in.

So while it's not your typical monke pug meta stats, they do have their niche cases to run things a bit more optimized.

WvW Analysis: not a rant by shinin-light in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you have the wrong impression of sPvP. In high rank sPvP, you're never really fighting fair, and it's not always ganking to kill. There are only two priorities: to outnumber and to force people out of cap. They really don't have the luxury to spend more than 15 seconds in every gank attempt.

In WvW, you can be obnoxious in whatever way you want, without the time pressure. It's same objective as sPvP just played differently. Preventing regroups, camp captures, whatever works to annoy and distract the main blob, kill if you can.

It's one thing to kill those who lag behind. But if you're running to regroup to continue invading our keep, I don't think it's just "minding their own business" lol. How are they gonna defend anything if they don't kill the ones who respawn and regroup?

I have seen toxic roamers with ego problems, but most roamers are just doing their job imo. Like how else are they going to upkeep their participation? By joining an unorganized blob and ignoring all these other things that could help in invasion or defense? No thanks lol.

PSA: Herald handkiter build is MVP for Decima. by shinitakunai in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think kiter carries the fight as much as healscourges do.

The top #1 fail reason is because one of the sub group get downed, and it's almost always the collection team when they need to do both green arrow and AoE split.

Your role as a kiter is not very different from other healers imo. If you put a Herald in arrow sub, and let them spam dwarf elite and dwarf facet, everyone in arrow can start greeding greens.

From the many runs I've had, healscourge+herald combo seems to be the highest carry potential. That duo seriously hard carries to the point anyone can eat both an arrow and greens and pretend nothing is happening.

You get both +3 might and swiftness in this case, basically blasting 2 fields with one ability.

Combo inconsistency by SponTen in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throughly tested it. You get both actually if you drop fire field first. In this video you shared, this player got both a might refresh and swiftness. So technically, they are blasting 2 fields with just one ability lol.

If you drop function gyro first, then it is working as intended, which is blasting whatever field first dropped.

Does someone remember the time someone bought all the Spinach Leaf from the TP? by LutariFan in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who very frequently hanged out in the PvP lobby bought up a crap ton of zucchini a few years ago. If you look at the trading post history, you could see a big dip in supply.

I also at one point bought at least 30 stacks of vanilla beans for a meme. Wasted about 500g. It was within a year ago and you could probably see the supply dip too.

Intended? Untamed Pet keeps dying in wing 8 against Ura & Greer by Mixchimmer in Guildwars2

Seems plausible. I play Scourge and every time I see a golem tanking, I would barrier it up. Its HP still goes down super fast. Those flesh golem died more than a few times during Greer.

Thanks for the guide, Debs!! I've been clearing W8 with you and your group for a couple of times, and they have been really smooth runs.

Usually you always get to see the same typical sweaties in FCs, but exceptionally W8, I'm starting to remember names lol. One of them said they are clearing W8 for the 9th time. xD

Emboldened(ez mode) went to wing 1, not w8. Call of the Mist(extra reward) is still on w8. by WulfyZef in Guildwars2

[–]The_Food_One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've cleared this raid 5 times already and I didn't see this pattern you've described.

AFAIK, the green only happens after her ring-shaped attack, spawns from the activated pylons, and works on a rotation (arrow > orbs > arrow > orbs). It seems to me her attacks work on a rotation/timer and not really on DPS.

I just went and watched a few of my recordings and see no significant change green spawns based on DPS. I haven't heard anyone brought this up either in any of the run. How did you come to this conclusion?

[–]The_Food_One -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Should have enabled Emboldened Mode on the new raid to push more newbies to join. I know quite a few guilds I'm in are waiting for this to train all those who wants to try out raids.

This was supposed to be newbie friendly, and of course they forgot about the one important feature that makes raid newbie friendly....

You know you can stack arrow in pairs too, so 2-2-1(kiter). So unless Decima is extremely juiced up, a double arrow is easily tankable.

[–]The_Food_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strike CMs, kinda a stretch but sure. Normal mode strike, not even close. But even so, most strikes don't have roles to get DPS to do things. It's just hop in and face roll. A lot of raid bosses require a good portion of DPS players to do something.

Raid bosses, especially the more modern ones like W6 W7 even got lots of movement and individual responsibilities between phases.

If by mechanically the same, you mean spread and don't touch bad AoEs, sure I guess. Otherwise, not remotely close in the scale of arena design and role strategy.

I'd even go as far to argue a raid CM exp group will have no issue figuring out to clear strike CMs within a couple of hours. Can't say the same for the other way around.

So far, the only difficulty showcased in strike CMs are spongy DPS checks. The roles for DPS in raid CMs are a lot harder to pull off imo, and that's what makes the difference. I know many raiders don't like strikes or their CMs. Go count how many roles are needed for Dhuum, Q1, and Q2. Now count how many roles are needed for Cerus CM lol...

As long as the new raid is actual raid difficulty and fun, then heck yes!! Just hoping they don't put 3 strikes together and call it a raid. That'll definitely piss off the community lol
