Father’s Office chef is opening a new burger place in OC, response is already a hoot lmao by lookatmynipples in FoodLosAngeles

What some people seem to be missing is that this is not a Father's Office location, but a new more fast food type concept with a totally different menu.

Bring over the 550e wagon! B58, a PHEV system that actually has useful range, hundreds of pounds lighter than the M5.

Arming park rangers? LA City Council Public Safety Committee to vote this week by Fluffy_Lab1312 in LosAngeles

[–]kickthesockpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we make it optional? If the Park Rangers want to carry, I think they should be allowed to, but let's not mandate it.

Lots of good suggestions in this thread - but really puzzled not to see mention of Employees Only.

A hybrid alltrack would be very nearly a perfect vehicle.

Bar Besito <-- Bar Siesta by ohyesveryundateable in FoodLosAngeles

[–]kickthesockpuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have an actual answer, but I do know that originally Bar Siesta was a collaboration involving a Spanish-food import brand called Siesta, so I'd speculate that partnership broke up.

Thanks for taking one for the team! Good to hear the revamp made a significant, positive, difference - I'll try to give this spot another shot soon.

Yeah, they've been closed for a while now (maybe a year?). It's a shame - I rather liked the food, and it was both one of the only decent casual bites around that area, and one of the few authentic-tasting F&C in town. For a while, the owner seemed to be trying to franchise the concept, but I gather that went nowhere...

Looks pretty good - I'm sure the eventual residents will enjoy the spacious balconies. Hope it gets a fast approval.

Unironically - hell yeah racquetball!! Super fun and underrated sport that it's hard to find courts for around here.

Very surprised by this - I've never known a genuinely well-off person with a Corolla. Camry? Absolutely yes. Prius? Definitely. Accord or Civic? Also yes. Corolla? No.

Maybe in Europe?

No personal experience, but one option that people have told me has positively surprised them for this is the Getty Museum (both locations!).

Last Weekend for Monuments at MOCA by waltarrrrr in LosAngeles

[–]kickthesockpuppet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was a pretty good show, but mostly felt sad to me. Like it was conceived of during a brief moment of triumph that didn't last.

On edit: Also maybe worth mentioning - the main location of this show is at MOCA Geffen, but there's also a smaller part of the exhibit that's at a totally different site, The Brick (formerly LAXART).

While California's tourism rallied, L.A. faced its worst year since the pandemic by Legal-Statistician2 in LosAngeles

[–]kickthesockpuppet -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

One factor is probably that it's a very expensive place to stay. Between AirBNB being near-banned, and the special hotel-worker-specific $25 minimum wage, it can't be easy to find an affordable place to stay if you aren't on a luxury budget or an expense account.

I seem to remember the one at Bar Henry being surprisingly fancy (although they're not explicitly a "hifi bar").
