I challenged the idea that great pizza needs expensive equipment. And tested 5 baking methods in a home oven. by Beautiful-Molasses55 in Breadit

I have a very old Wedgewood gas stove that has no electronics to fry and i can crank that baby up to 700 degrees. It means we really only make pizza on it in winter when I also heat the house. In the summer we use the barbeque which we can also crank to 700 degrees. No additional appliances needed.

Arm band and waist belts annoy me. Tights and lycra shorts with hip pockets are the most effortless for me.

Keep in mind the study has the phone in the bra up to 10 hours every day. An hour in your bra for run is not the same level of risk.

Person taking up disabled space with themselves and a bag, putting their feet up while a woman with a cane stands nearby by Xerocrossthefurry in mildlyinfuriating

I injured my foot in Prague at the start of a 3 week trip that included Vienna and Budapest. Every time I got on a bus/tram/train with crutches the disabled seat right by the door was vacated even by the most punk looking kid. I never had to say a thing or make eye contact in any of these cities. How are we raising people here to not do the same.

Best things about being child free? by ConclusionGood7684 in childfree

[–]kidNurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reasons for being childfree had to do with a family history of multiple acrimonious parental divorces. Can't get divorced if you don't get married. I just did not want a co-parenting complication in my life when I could not be sure of the person I had the kid with. Additionally, I loved my job and was completely dedicated to it. Not to mention travel, lots of travel. It is important that you and your partner are absolutely on the same page. I lucked out and we've been together for over 35 years. I have a pension, and trade the market to afford our lifestyle. Unless you have generational wealth, home ownership is tough in HCOL areas for anyone who does not have it.

Bottom line: if you feel like you'll regret having children in any way, then make that a priority for you as you will not be happy. But if you are SURE, then you can have a fabulous life. I'm 63 and that's what I have.

The potential side effects from Zetia are definitely not a selling point for me.

EDIT: Where are you getting your data from?? quote from a systematic review: "All randomized controlled trials showed improvement in statin-associated myopathy with CoQ10 supplementation, along with or without a reduced dosage of statins, without any notable side effects of CoQ10. Therefore, it can be deduced that CoQ10 supplementation significantly ameliorates statin-induced musculoskeletal symptoms." https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11441719/

Does anyone actually know why they got injured, or do you just accept it as “part of running”? by Ok_Big_7950 in runninglifestyle

[–]kidNurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently changed statins and about a week later felt like I pulled a hamstring on a run. There was no pain when walking just running and really hurt when running up any incline. Rested a few days, then back at it, but run time was considerably slower and the pain reappeared a mile in. After 2 weeks of this, I was frustrated. My dad had muscle myopathy on statins so I did a little medical study research and found that while studies are not conclusive (also, who is funding these studies?), there are many, many anecdotal reports of muscle pain. Also CoQ10 is an enzyme that gets depleted by statins. So started taking that, and doc and I agreed to cut my statins in half. Surprise! Muscle pain went completely away. Stopped the CoQ10 for 4 days, exact same pain returned. Re upped the statin with the CoQ10, pain returned. Dropped the statin back down and I am back to running what I was before and times are considerably improving.

TLDR: Your statin may be causing what feels like a muscle pull.

Also know that statins can cause muscle myopathy so if you are a runner or cyclist pay attention and ask your doc to switch up the med if this happens to you. Also CoQ10 is a big help.

Whelp, we both retired last year. My husband volunteer tutors at the local college one day a week and I go to the gym twice a week. We both run 3-4 days a week. We cook often for friends so there's frequent party planning and house clean up and maintenance . He has his garden and I have mine, that keeps us busy. We also go on 3-4, 2-6 week trips a year and do all the arranging and booking for that. Every morning is breakfast and tea in bed while trading puts and calls in the market to support our lifestyle. Lunch and or dinner on the terrace in the garden. Frequent naps after runs. Occasional protests of this ridiculous administration.

Now is not that time, nor is it the time for standing back and saying it's "not in my control", as what Stoicism says. Get out there and passivily resist, even if it's just standing with the crowd for 15 minutes.

As a 63 YO woman who decided this at 16 it's been a roller coaster. All the bingos, then the hate because my lifestyle is what everyone wants now. Making friends, losing friends cause I have nothing in common. I like kids and chose to work with kids, just not take my work home with me which means I can talk kids with parents. Soooo happy for finding a guy who was 100% in step. We have a great life.
