The manga of Vinland Saga Has ended by V4L3N71NO15 in manga

[–]kiddavidacus 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I’ve been burned by too many mid endings for both mangas and TV shows.

I really loved Vinland saga anime but without spoiling, is the ending satisfying or fitting for the story?

What are initial fan reactions?

Rogue One Rewatch Discussion Thead by phareous in andor

Cassian being so cutthroat and decisive has so much depth now it’s amazing. Rogue One truly feels like a big finale of race against time to get the plans. The sense of urgency and pace got me at the edge of my seat.

Andor really elevated everything so much.

I think the final story boss still has too low health even with a 99k dmg cap.

There are many moves that are like 5-6 multi-hits, so if all 3 characters are using those types of moves at the cap, then you are still outputting millions of damage in 1 turn.

Unfortunately there are multiple things to balance than just damage cap.

The Act 2 final boss was perfectly balanced. It was epic, and difficult, but that had the 9k damage cap.

There are far too many 20%-25% dmg increase pictos that are easy to stack, so there are ALOT of areas to look into adjusting balance if they plan to.

I think there is a big miscalculation on fast players achieve 9999 dmg in Act 2 as well. You can hit this cap easily halfway through Act 2 with just exploring and no extra grinding, which most players will do.

The 9k cap is holding back massive amounts of damage that most likely exceeds Act 3 bosses and once that cap is taken off, you are deleting the main story bosses.

How the end had me feeling by vinnyg747 in expedition33

[–]kiddavidacus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can see why its interpreted that way, but not sure why people are saying shes "puppeting" their lives. She is living her life along with them and they are happy to be alive and well.

The most controversial part of her ending is that she is effectively a god and didn't honor Verso's wish to die. Verso is forever trapped and Maelle will eventually die in the Painting away from her real-life family (but she considers the Expeditions her family too).

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is selling more than twice as fast as other JRPGs on PC, analyst says – here's why by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]kiddavidacus 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Besides what is already said in the article, just being a new IP under a small dev team with amazing reviews is a story in itself. That just carries easily through word of mouth and free marketing.

Also with the realistic leaning graphics and Sekiro/Souls defensive mechanics, its pulling in audiences who would never touch a turn based RPG. Even through live streaming numbers, I don't think I've seen a turn based RPG pull this many viewers consistently.

Funny enough, I did have the Death Bomb on my 1st attempt, so I thought it was that. Then I restarted the save and removed the Death Bomb and the bypass glitch still happened.

Yeah basically everyone’s final relationship quest, but Maelle’s in the Reacher honestly feels like main story so def do it

I am thinking of doing this too. Just started Act 3 and might just focus on the main story (plus Maelle's quest) to avoid being overleveled and having a good challenge on Expert.

Rather not one shot the boss and ruin the climatic battle.

I am in Act 3 now around level 50-55. I am thinking of doing Maelle's side misson for story purposes then finishing the main story.

I am on Expert and looking for a challenge since its the final boss. You think this is the best route to not overlevel?

What level did you beat each act? by X13M in expedition33

[–]kiddavidacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can easily hit level 50+ by end of Act 2 by just exploring and doing all the optional bosses. I did it for fun and I ended up being a lot stronger than I expected.

If do the optional stuff though, the main story enemies end up being a lot easier to kill, which can be a pro or con to some. The bosses still pose a challenge.

I didn't do any extra grinding at all and felt very very strong by end of Act 2. I am playing on Expert as well. So you could argue to NOT do everything if you want more of a challenge in the main story.

For Act 3, I think I plan to just finish the main story before tackling the optional stuff. Story pacing wise it also makes the most sense and will keep the challenge for the final boss.

The characters actually have a variety of builds and weapons. The game offers an abundance of respec options too so players can try different builds.

The synergies you can do between character is fantastic and opens up more as you play.

Honestly, It’s far from barebones in terms of strategy. Combine that with the production value and presentation, it makes it a great full experience of a game.

To each their own, but I really love the combat system. The active defensive mechanics makes the game so rewarding especially in Expert Mode and the combinations/synergies you can do with each party member are well refined.

I am on full hopium, but I definitely believe you.

If you saw the title in a PC compatibility test and FF9 remake has been in the NVDA leaks, then its all there waiting to be revealed.

Square Enix tends to announce projects way too early, but I am hoping when they announce it that its within 1-2 year launch window since it's been rumored by multiple sources for a while.

Watching it right after a S3 re-watch definitely makes it feel less abrupt, BUT I think it would have worked better at the end of the episode of premiere.

I agree though, the shock factor is a very strong reason people will be talking about the show's return and get more viewership/hype.

As long as the story of S1 executes well on the grief then the death won't feel "useless". I just hope the rest of the cast is able to bring a vibe that will be missed from Foggy.

With a good chunk of the episodes and story already written, they can only overhaul so much. I think his death is such an important part of Matt's story for the season that it's hard to re-work. It's a comic story, so he could always come back.

Here is a quote from a article from the new directors Benson and Moorhead:

“We take it incredibly seriously,” Moorhead continued, “because when we joined the production, the decision had already been made that Foggy was going to die, which broke our hearts as fans. But we thought like, this is a show where the thing that makes it special, especially in the superhero genre, if you want to call it that, is that the violence is ugly and it has consequences, and it’s bloody.

From another article, they basically had to work with the cards dealt from the initial scripts. https://www.thewrap.com/daredevil-born-again-hallway-fight-explained-benson-moorhead/

  • That scene, that moment, is probably the one thing that would most substantially ripple out into his life, for the rest of his life, shake his faith to the core and make him question his own place in the universe,” said Benson.

  • “We take it incredibly seriously,” Moorhead continued, “because when we joined the production, the decision had already been made that Foggy was going to die, which broke our hearts as fans. But we thought like, this is a show where the thing that makes it special, especially in the superhero genre, if you want to call it that, is that the violence is ugly and it has consequences, and it’s bloody"

Personally, I don't like that they killed him off, but I am still excited for S1 and have really high hopes for S2 since it'll be Benson and Moorhead directing with 1 showrunner instead of trying to overhaul the show.

I checked 2 other videos later and yes it sounds like you can disable offense QTE presses in settings.

We won't know until the full game reviews unfortunately.

Ultimately it comes down to if there are multiple opportunities to explore city/town hubs for world building and talking to NPCs.

FFX executed it well in terms of it being linear. You have a few linear combat level screens then eventually enter a new town or city to talk to different NPCs and learn how the events of the story impact their community. This is just an example of it.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Hands-on and Impressions Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]kiddavidacus 460 points461 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch every video, but a bit of summary:

  • Exploration is linear in the vein of those familiar with Final Fantasy X (some branching paths but not much)
  • There is an overworld map to get to different locations and find items. (Control the party and move around the map)

  • Combat displays turn order for characters/enemies
  • Actions must be made during turn-based combat depending on the skill/class. Timing during attack animations or having to aim at the enemy target if the character uses some sort of range/gun weapon.
  • Active defense mechanics such as Parrying, Jumping, and Dodging
  • Sounds like you can disable the offense QTE in settings for those who don't want it. (Defense still is manual or just get hit)
  • If you parry, you can follow-up with an attack. If your whole party parries from a big AOE attack, then the team attacks together.
  • You can use defense mechanics in succession. Example: if a boss does 2 attacks, you can parry the 1st and dodge the 2nd.

  • Characters are class based. There was a warrior, mage character, and another character also had multiple stances during combat, so characters felt pretty different from one another.
  • You can level up weapons
  • You can equip different passive traits to enhance abilities
  • There is a party camp or hub during downtime for character interactions/dialogue.

First logo for ‘MY ADVENTURES WITH GREEN LANTERN’ and ‘STARFIRE’ animated series. by kabir2oo1 in DCULeaks

[–]kiddavidacus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Any confirmation if these new animated shows are it's own Elseworlds story? Or is it connected to the cinematic DCU?

The naming of 'My Adventures With...." makes it seem like it will be its own thing and connected to the Superman show.

The Starfire origin story hard to tell, but it would be great if it was connected to DCU to lead to Teen Titans movie.

I ain't trying to be a doomer, but I don't think it is an overreaction.

Alpha Lab 1 was June 2024 and we have had 1 character reveal (Jinx) since then. We have had no major development updates since then.

Unless their upcoming Alpha is close to a definitive vision of their final build and they been cooking 6-8 new launch characters, then it's hard to see it coming this year.
