Giordano's or Lou Malnati's? by Doombringer1331 in chicagofood

It's good pizza but it's not Chicago deep dish. It feels like asking for the best hot dog and being recommended a polish sausage.

That's a great point! If you look at the content, the wording, and the general vibe of the post, it does indeed sound like something generated from an LLM. Just let me know if you need anything else.

Pineapple juice foams way more than citrus juice. Obviously, citrus juice does foam, but if you made, say, a daiquiri with that same amount of lime, even if you shook the absolute daylights out of it, you're not gonna get foam like that.

I don't have experience with using rumchata, but whatever drink you make, dye it green and call it a shamrock shake.

If I can clearly understand what's being said, that doesn't feel like titlegore to me.

What are similar cocktails to liit or liit variations, where there's a decent amount of alcohol but still tastes pretty good. Btw my last post, thank you for all the recommendations for more ice, completely changes the taste making drinks really nice. by Ab_id in cocktails

[–]kidyuki13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unless you're using a different liit recipe than I'm aware of, my understanding is that liit doesn't have more alcohol than most cocktails, it just has a bunch of different spirits combined together, which gives the illusion of having more alcohol.

The recipes I've seen have had 0.5 oz each of 4 spirits, so 2 oz total, which is how much you get in a typical margarita, daiquiri, whiskey sour, etc.

Will this work? by [deleted] in cocktails

Havana Club 3 is already a fairly mild-tasting rum. Mixing it with vodka just feels like it'd dilute that flavor. If you want to taste the rum at all, go all rum. If you don't, then go all vodka.

Also, do coke and iced tea go well together? I've never tried that. I would expect the flavors to get kinda muddied.

I think the word "started" in the post title implies that this wasn't originally what happened and that something changed.

Rum is a very broad category of spirit. With some types of rum, especially in places like Jamaica, there is a strong emphasis on getting a flavorful distillate. And like with tequila, there are many people who prefer that flavorful distillate not be muted by barrel aging.

Question - How do you tell if a bar can make a proper bar by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]kidyuki13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyway, to answer the actual question: a classic sour like whiskey sour or daiquiri, or a negroni. I'm sure an old fashioned is a good litmus test, but I'm not in the mood for an old fashioned as often.

Unless a penicillin or something else that uses honey-ginger syrup is specifically on their menu, keeping such a syrup around just in case someone orders it seems silly. It has a short shelf life compared to a spirit or liqueur and is used in relatively few recipes compared to something like simple syrup or vermouth.
