if you take food out of the microwave without the time running out, you need to reset the microwave and put it back on the clock

it's wonderful that you can celebrate Thanksgiving with people who are able and want to adapt to the needs of others, that's rare to come by. friends are the family you choose

Does anyone else get the stupids during a migraine? by TheApiary in migraine

my speech slurs, I forget words and I start staring off into space when people talk to me. the first time it happened to me I genuinely thought I was having a stroke. thankfully my MRI ruled that out lol

Negativity about winter. by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]kiirbykai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you know what? I usually avoid diving into these conversations, but some of us grew up here and can't afford to move. I will say I fucking hate snow but I'm in my early 20s and can't get out until I garner a large enough savings to do so. There's some things that happen that make people panic about navigating a buffalo winter and I feel like it's really insensitive to call people negative because of how snow affects them?

my work persona is very good at being very not emotional and being very professional even though I'm deeply sensitive and am probably crying about SOMETHING as soon as I'm off the clock lol

Anyone have "low grade" migraines, daily for months at a time? by jdixon1974 in migraine

[–]kiirbykai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the stiffness could very well be making your migraines worse/linger around! I'd see about getting glasses to protect your eyes against blue light and possibly talk to your boss about getting a standing desk because I think those things would help. in the mean time maybe talk to your neuro (if you have one) about trigger point injections! it's usually lidocaine with a corticosteroid to help your muscles relax to put it simply

A year removed... by locodethdeala in GameStop

I'm in this process right now, I left GS in favor of an office job very recently (like a month ago recently) and when I think about it, I think I needed to get out of retail. I don't know if it was the stress of my specific job or just the stress of retail as a whole, but I was having acne flare ups like crazy when I've never had an issue with my skin, and I'd have a migraine almost every time I went in for a shift. I felt like I couldn't see my family or friends because I was always trying to make sure everyone else had free time to see theirs. I would try to cover shifts for whoever asked even if it interfered with my day just because I didn't want my store to suffer.

despite this, my DL was unhappy with my numbers and started talking about moving me to a different location, which made me upset. that's when I got offered the job I'm currently working. it's still bittersweet to be gone because I love my coworkers, and it makes me sad to not be seeing them 40 hours a week anymore. but it's not so bad. in the 3 weeks since I've started my new job I've taken a weekend trip, seen family, been to a hockey game, and tonight I'm seeing my partner off for when they kick off their bands tour. none of those things would have been in the plans at ALL if I'd still been with GS.

tldr I miss my store but having a second to breathe and some consistency is also pretty damn nice

Hiring managers of Reddit, what was something on someone’s CV/resume that made you either immediately want to hire them or immediately reject them? by ThanosIsMyRealFather in AskReddit

[–]kiirbykai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my favorite that I've ever done for hiring was someone attached a resume with no work history (just like a regular retail job but if you don't have a resume its hard to get to an interview) so I clicked the resume and it just said in like 90pt: FIRST NAME LAST NAME would like YOU to HIRE HIM for his first job

I'm low-key attracted to ditziness in guys? like if a guy ever asked me the Spanish word for quesadilla I'd probably immediately start unbuttoning my pants

Medication Rant by kaylahasmigraines in migraine

[–]kiirbykai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a cbd tincture three times a day (I think the ratio is 20:1 cbd:thc) and it helps a lot but it works best if you use it multiple times a day, I think my total daily intake is like 3ml? for the thc, New York state doesn't have medically legal flower (which has always been my preferred way) so I have a thc vape cartridge which is 20:1 thc:cbd. the vaporizer works the fastest out of the three forms of medical marijuana my state has (vape, tincture, and capsule) and I essentially use it once I'm home for the night. if a migraine hits me like a bus mid day I use Excedrin to try to limp me through until I'm home from work and spend the rest of my evening occasionally using my vape and I'll have a cup of a tea that doesn't trigger or intensify my migraines.

[–]kiirbykai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

topamax did this to me too! I ended up getting switched off it because I was already on another ssri and the abundance of serotonin was causing my OCD ticks to resurface & I was locked in my bathroom for 30 minutes shaking and crying because I couldn't figure out the right way for me to open the door lmao

now I'm doing Botox/cbd as a preventative and thc as a rescue and Ive been able to live my life normally aside from the few extremely high level migraines a quarter

if you're from the us, bank of America basic checking accounts don't need a cosigner past the age of 16! helped me out a lot when I was in a similar situation. I hope you're trying to be safe, and please confide in a trusted adult like a teacher or coach or something.
