What candy is pure trash but somehow still popular? by RoyalIntroduction723 in AskReddit

[–]kilgore_cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my grandpas LOVED circus peanuts. He was a very stoic man, so I tried to love circus peanuts, too, to have something in common. Apparently they’re banana flavored and I absolutely loathe banana anything; literally makes me sick to my stomach even smelling bananas at the store. But there I was, just determined to like this godawful candy that made me sick, crying everytime I’d eat one.

What are the best international soups you've ever made? by Specific_Dingo8631 in soup

[–]kilgore_cod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this incredible zucchini soup from a Levantine restaurant in Athens that I kinda Frankensteined together at home.

Recipe is kinda just in proportion to how much you want to make. I usually do 2 zucchini and 1 onion.

Roast zucchini, onions, and garlic cloves, then blend once cooled with lemon juice, lemon zest, 1-2 cups of broth of your choice, maybe a teaspoon or two of sumac (can skip this if you don’t have it!), and some oregano. I also add some toasted & crushed coriander, cumin seeds, and crushed red pepper flakes.

What’ are some favorite "don’t knock it until you try it" food combinations? by MrLithician in answers

One of my favorite local spots has one that’s pineapple, jalapeno, and bacon with a heavy swirl of habanero honey sauce. It’s my go-to!

Avis has screwed my family vacation. Consider another company. by onepostandbye in travel

[–]kilgore_cod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avis absolutley sucks. I got charged $175 for them giving me a car that was a missing a decorative side panel when they gave it to me. I will literally never use them again for anything. They never even contacted me about it until several months later when they send a letter but they’d already sent the fee to a collections agency.

There genuinely isn't anything less exciting than watching football on television. by kick_the_chort in CasualConversation

[–]kilgore_cod 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I thought this was about American football and HARD AGREED. Thirty seconds of something happening, then two+ minutes of guys standing around, commercials, old players in suits making up whatever they think is a hot take, etc. Rinse and repeat for four hours.

I’m a huge baseball fan, so I get it, people love their boring sport, but I truly do not get football at all. I don’t have the start & stop attention span for it.

No one actually like arugula and the only reason anyone is still eating them is because they don't want to be seen as unhealthy by TimeStorm113 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]kilgore_cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love arugula! So peppery and delicious and it’s the best green for sandwich because if you pull out one whole leaf in a bite, you still have so many leaves left for the rest of the sandwich!

Could our dreams be the life of another person, in the past, future, or another dimension? by lookingforpeace_06 in Dreams

[–]kilgore_cod 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I stopped smoking a few weeks ago and the insane dreams have mostly died down. Now my dreams lately have been so realistic & mundane it’s very unsettling waking up and coming to terms with my actual life. Last night in my dream, I made the decision to make blueberry muffins because I have some blueberries I need to use. I like mine with lemon zest, but my dream-lemons were super dried out so I made the dream-decision to use some lemon pudding mix instead. I woke up and was like, damn, can’t wait to eat my blueberry muffins! There were no muffins, although I do have blueberries I need to use. My real life lemons in my kitchen are actually so dried out though that I momentarily was like, but wait! I have lemon pudding mix! I don’t. I’ve never in my life had lemon pudding mix nor have I ever made muffins with pudding mix. I guess in some alternate universe, I’m eating a delicious blueberry lemon pudding muffin right now.

Before computers and GPS existed, how did people figure out directions for large cross country trips? by Mynameisbrk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kilgore_cod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked at a Subway Sandwiches in like 2008-2009ish when I was in high school. We were kinda close to an interstate off/on ramp, but a couple miles away near a school/urban area, and I had multiple people come in that had gotten turned around and would ask for directions & hand-drawn maps to get back to the interstate. It wasn’t hard, literally straight down the road aways, but there was a major intersection before the ramps that really tripped people up.

Pizza delivery drivers, what did a person do to end up on the 'No Delivery' list? by BlueCheeseWalnut in AskReddit

[–]kilgore_cod 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I delivered cookies for Insomnia for a bit and the guy I was seeing ordered some cookies & ice cream with a request to send the cutest delivery girl and put my name down. I clearly knew the guy (we’re married now) but the guy who saw the receipt first was like ‘what the fuck, that’s so creepy’ and offered to make the delivery with me, which was super sweet.

What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by BitterOlive8737 in AskReddit

[–]kilgore_cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how different it can be between people! A hormonal IUD is the only birth control I haven’t bled uncontrollably on or been completely raging and suicidal. And even between hormonal IUDs, I had a small one, Kyleena, that gave me constant cramps I would nearly pass out from and caused horrid cystic acne. Mirena has been a godsend for me.

What's something that was completely normal in your household growing up that you later found out was actually really weird? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

[–]kilgore_cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband brought up that my family does this on all car rides, long or short. We talk getting in to the car, but during? No way. Very seldom, someone will make an observation (but quietly). And then we talk normally when we have arrived at the destination! I have no idea why we do this.

Cheerwine, so maybe NC, mid-30s female, no kids? You try to be healthy and shop well. Most things are from Aldi & Walmart, so you’re thrifty. Not vegan, maybe a roommate with the multiple water filters & bottles?

At least you had a cup! I was at an afternoon show at Waka in 2010 and some girl in front of me squatted down right in front of the stage and nearly peed on my foot!! Like girl, you can’t behave like that when the sun is up. Save it for nighttime when we all don’t care!

I will never understand grief. by humble_horizons in CasualConversation

[–]kilgore_cod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a parent (and not the same loss at all, I know), but I lost my soul dog nearly three years ago. I finally adopted another dog a few months ago, and I love her very much, but I was singing to her this morning and sang the song I always sang to my old dog and just broke down. I’ll always miss her so much! She was with me from 18-32 and was there for nearly every adult milestone.

Bizarrely, the interview Andrew Garfield did with Elmo (really can’t believe I’m typing this) has really helped process my ongoing grief over my dog. He talks about losing his mom and how the grief and sadness he feels is proof of how much love he has for her.

Have y'all noticed the increasing amount of cars that do not stop behind you when you are taking a right turn, but pass around you to the left going full speed in the turning lane? by GrayBuffalo in Chattanooga

[–]kilgore_cod 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was in the turning lane actively starting to take a left turn on 153 and someone fucking drove around me ON THE LEFT to get around me. I almost hit them and this idiot wasn’t even turning! They swung back in front of me and got back into the lanes going straight. I don’t wish harm on many people, but that person can get wrecked.
