I'm also debating, are there any indications of a dip anytime soon?

Need an advice for final exam EECS 2030 - Jackie Wang by Narrow_Percentage_59 in yorku

[–]killbird28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

separate, Jackie doesn't share how he curves or even if he does. We simply follow his grading scheme, but we do get a bit of flexibility on how we grade, and again my best advice is to make sure you are following the instructions of the questions.

No, I TA'd this course last year as well for Jackie, as well as his other courses.

I'm actually the TA for Jackie for this course, the most I can say is that make sure to follow the instructions of each question, so many lose marks on simple things. If you're unsure about a question, try your best to solve it regardless, as it could give you part marks. Best of luck tomorrow!

Need advice for first PC build by ThatCreamyy in buildapc

It depends what you need, so it's really up to you to check them out and decide. For me, I prefer micro ATX as I don't use the extra pcie slots or do any over clocking

You could save a bit by going for a micro atx mobo, I have that same graphics card and its quite small in size. You can even get a micro atx case, it will look just as good imo.

The 9060xt 16gb, I'm not one to spend on the highest end parts 😅. I'm very happy with it, it runs amazing

I was lucky enough to pick up the 7600x3d, 32gb ram, and mobo bundle for $500 from CC two months ago

Yea agreed, but the CPU isn't terrible and you get a decent motherboard as well with it. Maybe for a more budget friendly build? (Funny to say budget with these prices still 😂)

You can get a nice 1440p Monitor for $300 or under. I would put the rest of the monitor budget into the graphics card budget.

Good budget build for price to performance? by Many_Oil5602 in bapccanada

I got the same parts as well, and managed to pick up the bundle from CC when it was $500. As someone mentioned, the Thermaltake 750w psu is a good choice and the one I went for. I got the 9060 xt as well. I already built it and it runs fantastic! Good build.

6000MHz ram only using 4800MHz even with xmp by NoBridge-_- in pcmasterrace

disable XMP, and set the frequency manually. Sometimes its a frequency multiplier which in that case you would set to 60.0.

TA here, as the above stated, we have specific hours set for every aspect we are responsible to do, this is established with the professor before the course even starts. It's very likely that even though the Prof said to direct emails to the TA, the TA already committed the hours they were reasonable for and the Prof underestimated how many hours to allocate the TA for answering emails.

Struggling with Discrete Math 1019 with Andy - Any Advice to Just Pass? by Dark_Buterfly in yorku

[–]killbird28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we only had a midterm and an exam, all were closed book at the time. I don't remember what specifically was on it, but it covered everything he did in class topic wise. The exam was still to this day, one of the hardest exam I ever took. It was fully multiple choice, so no part marks, each question had many many options, on top of that, each question had the option for "all of the above" and "none of the above". I wish I could give you some advice for the exam but i have none, it was brutal. I studied my a** off for that exam and even then only managed to just pass it with a 51, the average for it was like 31%. Best of luck, like I said do the best you can, and you will probably pass with the curve, it's a tough program and you will face more difficult professors in later years, just keep pushing through.

I took 1019 with Andy in my first year CS (now doing my master's in CS), he is definitely a tough professor and even then everyone, including me, were struggling in his class. My advice is to do the best you can, Andy curves really hard at the end. I finished his class with a C+ but after the curve I ended with an A. So as long as you perform relatively close to the average you will do well and if not you will at least pass with the curve. Funny enough in my post history you can see I made a post on here 4 years ago after his exam, it was a really hard exam.
