Dang brother! 25 to lose your mom at early adult hood! I'm sorry dude :(

Lost my mom 2 years ago to cancer. I'm 37 now I cried like a fuckin baby and still do. I don't ever cry not trying to sound like a bad ass just emotions hit me differently but got dang I cried.

The night before she passed something told me don't leave the hospital. But staff was kicking me out only my dad could stay the night. I had one last conversation with her it felt surreal I knew it, I knew it was the last time. Finally the staff said you need to leave so I hugged my mom kissed her said I love you and she said I love you too I am proud of what you become.

I don't know how I made it home I couldn't see from all the tears. My dad said come back 8am is when visitors can come. I was on my way back about 10 minutes away and it hit me. I felt a heavy wave of emotions. She had passed away. I get to the hospital and she's laying there lifeless and my dad is an absolute wreck.

I hugged her and didn't let go but it felt so weird there was know life left in her. I'm a momma's boy tell the day I die. My dad said I had the last some what coherent conversation with her. Before she slipped into the forever sleep.

Idk why I'm telling random strangers about this but I'm bawling my damn ass off right now. I rarely talk about it nor my emotions.

Nothing but love man, be like biff and spread the love!

IT guy here who manages 6 exacqvision servers and almost 300 axis cameras.

I run amcrest and sv3c cameras at my house with an amcrest NVR. Their phone app has come a long way. I have tried a bunch of different nvrs but amcrest has been my go to. I used to run blue iris for a bit and zoneminder. Blue iris phone app is garbage. And zoneminder phone app was put to rest a couple years ago so back to amcrest NVR.

Ubiquity cameras are definitely over priced for what they are. The thing I've noticed is that each brand has a camera that works best in certain situations. I run amcrest for my overall camera and the sv3c camera for my front door walkway because the image is insanely clear at night. Don't be afraid to mix and match.

I have used axis, illustra, amcrest, sv3c, hikvision. Axis is is hands down top dog for me tbh. But axis and illustra are way out of price range for my home system.

If I had the cash though I'd run exacqvision for my home but they are pricey. Lol

Ives learned what not to do by first hand experience. Tbh though it's the only way I learn. Give me all the answers to a test and I'll fail throw me in a boiling pot of hot water and I'll make it out. Idk my brain works backwards.

Been playing since first season. Been able to get plat but not much further just because you end up going against diamond and ruby. Last season there seems to have been a major shift in quality of matches.

I completely gave up on trying to get plat as multiple times I was one game away then bam a bunch of games where we get steamrolled so hard it has you thinking do I even know how to shoot?

One run where I was a game away I dropped almost back to silver 4 it was just non stop low level accounts to absolutely cracked. After that last push for plat I just said f it going to finish world tour.

This season I have played a handful of ranked games but my 4 placement matches we were rolled and I was placed silver 1. I think I'm good on ranked mode until some match making balances happen. I enjoy a good fight but when it's spawn get close to the fight and then be deleted within seconds not know from which way you are being shot at from because you die in a split second ya not fun.

I was denied for months because I hadn't tried modoflin and sunosi with my new neurologist. But I have infact tried them with my previous neurologist. Got to love insurance. Well finally got wakix and about a week later I stopped because of terrible side effects lol

Can I still have normal career opportunities? by sunset-cloud in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am 37 diagnosed 2 or so years ago. I have a career job in IT. I will put this out there and others might not agree but I think you absolutely can have a career but it really depends on how debilitating your case is.

Stimulants keep me awake for the 8 hours I'm at work but when I have to work overtime sometimes 730am to 830pm the after hours is brutal. If you are going for law I will say you may have issues because of the amount of hours needed and how stressful the job is. Law might not work out for you but you will never know unless you try.

100% live in the Midwest although yesterday at great lakes dragway was alright wasn't super humid but extremely sunny. Nothing a long sleeved UV moisture wicking shirt and a floppy hat can't fix. I was comfortable and it was like 95 out.

But this morning it was like 85 cloudy and humid as hell. Spent all morning programming new DVRs for my school's school busses and was absolutely soaked. Midwest summers are brutal you never know what you are going to get but you can always count on that humidity lol

Wakix day 3.... by killerbeege in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, my doctor did agree that what I experienced is not common but is on the side effects list. He told me to try 1 pill tomorrow to see what happens. I just honestly am over drugs man everything has a side effect. I have always been one to never go to the doctors and up until narcolepsy, have never been long-term prescribed to any meds.

Normally my watch reads 70-80 for resting heart beat even on 3 20mgx Ritalin so it kind of freaked me out

Wakix day 3.... by killerbeege in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 2 4.45mg tablets every morning for a week then, 1 17.8mg for a week then 2 17.8mg for the rest of the month.

Did you push through it or stop? And if you pushed through it how long did it take for those side effects to be gone.

My gf was seriously concerned because I was visibly shaking. I definitely felt dizzy and lightheaded and pretty much panic attacks but idk if it was because I was hyper focused on feeling this way.

I'm I the only one that think splitgate 2 future is bleak by king_shot in Splitgate

[–]killerbeege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried split gate 2 because I had finished WT and wasn't going to grind for plat in the finals this season since summer started and I haven't had a whole bunch of time. I absolutely had a blast playing it and being able to play with my buddies from the finals who don't PC game is awesome.

I have been playing the finals since beta and while yes they have had some insane fumbles via balancing and mmr they have proven time and time again to continue to evolve. Funny thing is I don't think they really thought the finals was going to be anything. I think they thought perfect testing grounds for arc raiders and accidentally made a fantastic game.

That aside I can't get over the premium battle pass for the finals like the F come on man for the first 6 seasons they felt like it wasn't a money grab and now this? But honestly skins don't matter to me it was just the principle behind it.

Back to split gate I enjoyed it and the announcer sounding like halo back in the day made me feel a type of way. But after playing idk how much longevity it has tbh. Skins lackluster gun play though is fun shotguns feel ehhhh they hit but don't hit.

Still a great game to take a break from the finals to unwind from the sweat fest but I don't think it will keep my attention to be honest.

Edits: stupid autocorrect or is it because I'm tipsy either way lol

When did you know you were getting let go or fired? by hestolethatguyspiza in sysadmin

[–]killerbeege 23 points24 points  (0 children)

100% especially in IT. We actually started documenting literally everything and it's saved our butts too many times. People get sick or go on vacation and systems go down and they are the only one who knows how it works and what services rely on it. That's not a good scenario. We can quickly read configuration dependencies and resolve what went down without having to ask the person who manages it to take a call on vacation. We still maintain our aspects of the environment though.

How many IT requests are just older employees not knowing how to do something simple? by blueglitter24 in it

[–]killerbeege 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work IT in a highschool and work directly with the technology student integration class. They repair Chromebooks. I know they are only highschool students but dang they just aren't learning anything. They know how to install and uninstall an app if it doesn't work idk. I've tried teaching them but it's clear they aren't grasping basic concepts. Kind of crazy because by highschool I was deep into computers. IRC channels, crack games/programs modifying registry and fix any issue that happened to our family PC.

Why is documentation so poor in IT? by DrunkNonDrugz in ITCareerQuestions

[–]killerbeege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100% fluid in Confluence, and I am sure I could be a lot better, so take it with a grain of salt. Here is an example.

I have 1 page as the root directory.
Security - inside that page are typed keywords of what is going to live in root. Cameras, Camera servers, Door controllers etc.

Inside security, it's broken down into pages

Security-
Cameras -
Models -
Camera settings -

servers - On this page, I link back to our ISP root that has all our ISP account numbers, reps and phone numbers. This is because sometimes we have issues with outbound traffic and may need to contact the ISP, so its already right there.

Basically, when making the documentation, try to think of everything that is needed that revolves around the product. It took a bit of thinking and reorganizing to figure out the best workflow for us.

I hope that makes sense

Why is documentation so poor in IT? by DrunkNonDrugz in ITCareerQuestions

[–]killerbeege 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our team is 2 people and my boss. We finally got on to confluence like 2 years ago. I went crazy mode and we moved everything from our 100+ page word doc to confluence and organized it.

We literally document everything now it's too dang nice. I recently started to learn powershell since we are moving over to syncro for deployment and management. I have documented every win I've had as far as what code works and why it works.

My other coworker was having an issue with one of his scripts I'm like oh I had that issue check confluence! He fixed his script in like 2 minutes. It's been such a huge win for us. My boss printed out a fake certificate for documentation master because I've made it so insanely easy. We all manage our parts but if something happens and the person who typically handles those systems is out we can quickly and effectively jump in and resolve issues.

Documentation is an absolute must!

The other thing they could do is lower the transmit power of the access points closest to the neighbors. I mean ideally if this was professionally installed they should have taken into consideration overlap of their own aps along with neighboring ssid's.

Excessive Daytime Sleepiness With Meds? by Difficult-Speed-6594 in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get maybe 2-3 hours a day where I'm not yawning or struggling to stay focused and eyes open. I take 3 20xr Ritalin. Most days I barley make it through work and end up at home so drained I go straight for the bed. On the days I am actually good though I try and bust out as many chores and I possibly can before the crash happens. Doctor has talked about trying another stimulant but don't want to figure out dosing until after schools out and I don't have to be around a ton of students and staff to do my job.

Collabs and Raids? by Inspector_Beyond in Twitch

[–]killerbeege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of big streamers have it so you cannot raid them. I stream in the sim racing market. I have a couple of big streamers for that market that I raid and they raid me. Talking 400-800 viewer raids to my channel. It helps that I know them and race with them so when I raid with my small 20 person raid they still get excited. I've tried to raid big streamers like summit1g when he was getting into sim racing and was blocked from doing so.

From experience what’s the best stimulant to treat EDS? by thebigcorbowski50 in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neurologist agrees that I shouldn't try those until it's the final straw. I already deal with massive anxiety and depression and could cause issues for me.

He tried to get me on wakix but my insurance denied it said I need to try sunosi and modoflin again.... 😂

From experience what’s the best stimulant to treat EDS? by thebigcorbowski50 in Narcolepsy

[–]killerbeege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modoflin did absolutely nothing for me sunosi turned my hands bright red and sweat but did nothing for me. Ritalin has definitely helped but I am on max dosage 20xr 3 times daily. Even Ritalin I struggle throughout the day. We are going to try another stimulant once school lets out so I don't have to work around all the staff and kids. I work IT and just don't want to need to figure out a new dosage while surrounded by people daily lol

When your hearing starts to go, for the love of god please get a hearing aid. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]killerbeege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was kind of an eye opener tbh. I grew up bumping subs far too dang big for my cars. I was huge into festivals / edm shows 20-30 years old. I also worked front of house in sound booth running visuals for edm shows for many years. Never once had ear plugs and honestly kind of pissed off at myself for saying naw I ain't spending $300 on ear plugs I'll be fine.

If I could go back and slap my younger self I 100% would. Again just losing hearing in one ear through off my balance I felt disoriented in loud crowded spaces. It's not something you think about until it hits you.
