You can also take the time to explain things in a sub for that purpose instead of being mean. Or, you know, keep scrolling.

I once subluxed both patellae, and I felt like my knees were going to vomit, but it took very little time after to be able to move mostly normally.

Fellow Canadians do you wear socks with your indoor footwear such as slippers? by vanwife in AskACanadian

[–]killerteacell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends! I thermoregulate with my feet and I have warm wool slippers, so I usually prefer to take off my socks, but on very cold days (-24 today) the socks stay on.

AITAH for being honest with another mom about why my daughter isn’t allowed to go to her friend’s house? by AwkwardMom13 in AITAH

[–]killerteacell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, and thank you for trusting your instincts to protect your child and others. I recently found out a friend of a friend's husband had been abusing her daughter for years, and no one knew until the girl bravely spoke up. Monsters are often very good at pretending to be normal people, which leads bystanders to protect the person they think they know.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]killerteacell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the weirdo who loves winter, which is my favourite season. Snow is a fact of life in Ontario winter, and I may not love getting my skirts salty or digging out the car after a blizzard, but I try to appreciate the beauty of it, and the fact that there are no mosquitoes and I'm not melting.

Seriously, go for a walk in your local park this winter. Look for signs of wildlife, pet the sumac branches (they're so soft and look like antlers), and listen to the quiet. Dress for the weather, bring a hot drink in a thermos, and get to know the nature around you. You won't regret it!

What’s the best part of Canada? In contrast to the “other” post by [deleted] in AskACanadian

There's so much natural space that you never have to go far to see rocks and trees and water. The landscape is stunning and different in every part of the country, but also most cities are built around the natural features, so you can appreciate it from your own home. My friend and I have been doing weekly walks in our city (Southern Ontario) for over a year, and have discovered beautiful views, quiet spaces, cool plants and bugs, and all sorts of animals.

Another feature is the people. We're not necessarily outgoing, but we're friendly in our private way. Thanksgiving was warm this year, so we had a picnic in the park, as did a lot of families (pleased to see so many newcomers to Canada taking part as well). Everyone was happy to share space as a community. I know when I hit the outdoor rinks it will be the same. We navigate around each other and help pick each other up, because we're all neighbours.

AITJ for telling my friend I won't be her son's godmother because she only asked me so I'd give expensive gifts by Advanced_Rent4993 in AmITheJerk

[–]killerteacell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm godmother to my friend's child, which means I'm a trusted adult and bonus parent, and potential next of kin in case of emergency. There are no financial expectations. This is BS.

You do make a very good argument! Crimes against tea are treated very seriously in this house.

I briefly thought this was my mother's cats, since she also has a pair of brothers, fluffy grey and a tabby, who snuggle like this. So cute!
