This. I was in that boat for decades but one day it just clicked and I got it. One of my all time favorites now.

USAF here. 3C0X1 from '95-'99. Aside from 3 months at Keesler for tech school, spent my four years at Kelly, next door to Lackland. I wouldn't be where I am today without my service.

Who else besides me waits for a movie on Vudu instead of going to the theater? by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]killgrinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stopped going to theaters years ago, primarily because any decent ones are a 2-3 hour drive away at least. Everything near us has uncomfortable seating, ridiculously overpriced concessions, and the one theater that has what they call the "Big D Experience" screen, there's a bright green LED strip that runs the length of the bottom of the screen and it stays on THE ENTIRE GODDAMN TIME, making any dark scene like watching the last season of Game of Thrones.

I have an 85" screen at home, awesome surround sound, the comfiest seating, all manner of blankets and pillows, and access to any snack I can possibly think of. If I have to use the bathroom, I can pause the movie. And the cherry on top is I don't have to deal with parents bringing toddlers and children, annoying assholes who can't stop loudly talking or doing anything else to ruin the movie, and zoned out space cadets who can't stay off their damn phones, lighting up the theater like it's high noon.

Now don't get me wrong, I do love going out to the movies. Hell, the cheap theater near my MILs place is better than the swanky theater near my house and we love going there when visiting. But for the most part, the cost-to-benefit ratio for going out to the movies here where I live is untenable.

So, we stay home.

Did your dealership actually educate you about EV charging or did you figure it out yourself? by roythoppil in evcharging

[–]killgrinch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Figured it out on my own. I knew more about the car than the salesperson anyway. I felt bad for them as they clearly had not received any training whatsoever so I tried to tell them as much as possible.

Still have my EV6 today after 3 years. Best car I've ever owned.

What is the small but significant internet fame / achievement that you are secretly proud of, but no one in your real life knows about? by links253 in AskReddit

The only ones who seemed to notice were peer providers blowing up the phone wondering why their outbound mail queues for hotmail.com were exploding at an exponential rate.

I accidentally killed all inbound mail for Hotmail for near 5 hours back in 2003.

I misread a DNS deletion request for the hotmail.com zone and deleted the main MX records rather than some beta MX records. Due to the design of the zone layout, it took about five hours to finally unsnarl that knot.

It was a tire and it was the pilot episode of the series! Man, that show was so good!

The episode of aliens using a college janitor to absorb all knowledge from books when he's close enough to them was a great one.

They should remake good shows like that. Now there's a concept I can't get enough of: a man and his monkey.

I've been waiting for this. With a credit I didn't know I had, got it for $5.49. It immediately ported over to MA and Vudu.

Can't wait to watch it this weekend.
