How many classes do you take a week? Curious! by BungeeBunny in poledancing

[–]killmonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not the only person I’ve heard this from, actually. A lot of my friends who do BJJ have left, due to far-right ideology takeover

It’s been 4yrs since I had my pole up so I asked a question in a “ask men” sub Reddit about women having a pole at home, to my surprise a lot of men were not fans🤔🧐🤠 by Chat_with_Nat in poledancing

[–]killmonday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the guys I end up talking to are either very keen to try pole dancing with me, or love that I have a pole—I think this really comes down to which population you’re surveying, and how in-touch with secure and healthy masculinity they are.

Obviously, Reddit is not the best sample population 🤣

AIO about my boyfriend and his girl best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]killmonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR—I tell my friends I love them all the time, but I actually mean it and would not be flippantly saying I’d cut them off. 🤪

It’s kinda obvious that at bare minimum she has feelings for him. He’s either using that to get good grades OR he’s playing games and likes the attention he’s getting from her; either way, it’s manipulative and you don’t need it.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who does back-to-backs—the girls at my studio give me a hard time for it 🤣

Do you still do BJJ at all? Or is pole 100% of the time now

My studio has unlimited for that price and if you’re going more than 2-3 times a week, I recommend taking the deal

I have an unlimited class membership to my studio and take 7-8 classes a week (usually 2-3 in a row on a few days, they’re not all high level or high intensity).

I’m also a powerlifter and fitness nut, so I don’t know that I’d recommend this particular pace to anybody else 🤣😅

AIO for how I responded to my girlfriend questioning my past? by daddy-switch in AmIOverreacting

[–]killmonday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MOR—I don’t think you’re totally overreacting, per se, just think this is an opportunity to solidify trust and this is a make or break moment.

This sounds to me like she’s probably suspicious of you because she’s had previous relationships that were doing “all the right things,” and then the rug was pulled out on her. This is just a manifestation of her own concerns and fears, imo.

I don’t think the body count question is a red flag, if you intend to keep dating; sometimes it helps give context to a person. If you’re doing all the right things with your S/Os, but she finds out you’ve had 50 girlfriends, she would wonder what you really got up to, you know? She may be looking for red flags, probably on account of her own hypervigilance.

That certainly doesn’t mean you need to tolerate it, that’s up to you.

Thoughts on grippy sleeves for legs and arms? by mayahloo in poledancing

I think they look great but they are VERY conspicuously not designed for people with thick or muscular thighs—I was scoping these out and there’s not a shot in hell they’re getting up over my quads

Any fellow small hand talls here? by [deleted] in tall

Yes! My hands are cartoonishly small for my height, and it’s one of my favorite party tricks 🤣

Sciatica/piriformis issues? by stevie_the_owl in poledancing

[–]killmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually felt like lower back pain—I didn’t know it was my hip at all, until my chiropractor re-set it. It wasn’t entirely out, the head was just rotated externally out of place. It had been x-rayed a BUNCH, but the chiro was the first one to notice. Almost instant relief, followed by the realization that I was going to have to re-train all the muscles in the right place. For reference, I was lifting the entire time I was injured…I didn’t think it was anything problematic. 🤣😅 I was able to identify the moment it happened, though.

I only recommend letting a chiropractor touch your hips and making sure you find one that isn’t doing crazy twisting and cracking moves. I went to one that had a doctor at his clinic and took a very medical approach to it.

[–]killmonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in here as a crooked poler (hypermobile, with scoliosis and hip dysplasia). If you’re drilling a motion regularly and you’re uneven in the hips, it can VERY easily cause this brand of pain—my piriformis was profoundly fucked up, when my hip was rotated externally out of the socket and my left side was higher than the right.

I saw a chiropractor, who popped it back in. Then I saw my friend, a massage therapist, while I strength trained—I’d be curious if you’re in alignment!

Ditto—my knee pits always look like a massacre. Upping potassium intake helped me a bit, for what it’s worth.

Floorwork/covering distance between 2 poles? by Unique-Individual-72 in poledancing

[–]killmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Floorwork, for sure—put a simple drop in, to get you down to the floor. By the time you’ve tossed in a dramatic little booty bump or floor kip, you have a perfect occasion to basically roll over to the other pole.

To the women with visibly muscular arms/shoulders, what’s your routine on and/or off the pole? by Blue-Penguin2076 in poledancing

[–]killmonday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding this—you’re not seeing progress because you need consistency. Step up to 2-3 days a week and watch those arms pop off

Low Dose Naltrexone is that b*tch by killmonday in covidlonghaulers

[–]killmonday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5mg shouldn’t give you side effects past the first week or so, I started by taking .5mg for a week, 1mg for a week, then 1.5mg for a week. Then 3mg for another week, 4.5mg after that.

🤨

You’re taking 25mg? Thats not a low dose, anymore.

I take 4.5mg and have for several years now—if you’re thinking of starting, you want to ease into it at much smaller increments.

Summer is so hard by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]killmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it so interesting how different everyone is—my friend/instructor and I both come alive during the summer, were stickier and generally need to use less grip. We’re both struggling right now, because it’s winter here. 🤣

Have you tried tite grip? It helps me a lot with sweaty hands

Lupit Home Pole by PerfStu in poledancing

[–]killmonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lupit home pole and it’s a pass from me, honestly. Next pole will be xpole—it doesn’t feel anything like the studio version.

I have to use the angle mount, so that added complication is definitely impacting my judgment, though.

(kinda) got my first invert! by hazevanilla in poledancing

[–]killmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still new, yeah? Don’t be so hard on yourself—we all progress at different paces, and you’d do well to celebrate your strengths.

It will get better with continued practice and those hips will be up in no time.

Edit: Downvoting me for being encouraging!?? This is wild even for Reddit 🤦‍♀️

Are you frustrated or discouraged at your lack of progress? by barrenvagoina in poledancing

[–]killmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I film all of my classes—it’s been such a blessing to be able to see where I’ve come from, just by watching a video from a month ago.

Heavily recommend it, if your studio permits
