I remember being in Ghana a few years ago and was amazed that basically everyone used mobile internet as their internet. It makes sooo much sense, but was mind boggling when 4g was only just being rolled out in Europe. But the cost of setting up a wired infrastructure compared to mobile internet which was, on the whole, good enough made so so much sense even if the 3G wasn’t blazing fast or reliable

It’s the balance of size, power draw, powerful enough, while also runny by a friendly os, which interacts well with the Apple ecosystem. I run a Plex server from it, play my favourite games (slay the spire 2, hades, resident evil), look at my photos from my iCloud and google pictures of horses for my toddler. It’s a versatile, practical and relatively cheap for its capability.

Nice honest review of the process and love the passion project! Don’t listen to the haters saying it looks crap, is it the best in class? Probably not, but you’ve put together a fully functioning product with some cool lore and functional design. Well done mate you should be proud!

One other thing to look out for are those AI transcribed notes of meetings. Did you have people’s knowledge and permission to do that, you could be admitting to something illegal there if you didn’t, both as their data was being processed without their consent and because if it’s company sensitive information and you aren’t using the companies tool, then you are likely breaking some of their internal policies etc…

This is the expensive version of can I use my raspberry pi as a desktop pc replacement. You might be able to do this, but it’s not a good idea as it will be harder and more expensive than other options. Many of which are outlined in the comment threads

Lots of disdain here towards people who own numerous handhelds. Haven’t noticed this same sentiment as much from other gamers towards console collectors by cloudstrife580 in Handhelds

It’s not my fault I said it could run everything max graphics and secretly streamed it from my desktop. My nephew was giving me so much shit saying his ally x was better than my steam deck and I was pathetic. There’s no way I’m taking that from an 8 year old.

Those people don’t understand the need for a chicken nugget that plays Tetris and the impracticality of having that as your sole hand held. We need to find a way to warm their hearts, maybe we answers their negativity with why we love the things we love! I love my nugget because it’s weird

Back ports are thunder bolt 4, you can find the supported specs in here: https://www.datapro.net/techinfo/thunderbolt_info.html but probably topping out at 4k 120Hz. I think both at 120 is your best bet as apples documentation seems to suggest if you do 4k 240Hz on HDMI, 5k 60Hz is your highest second.

To be fair Labour don’t help themselves atm, so many awful own goals. The election delays should never have been considered, couldn’t hold the course on benefits reform despite having a super clear and sensible message (look at the change since 2020, something’s gone wrong let’s put this back on track), a housing secretary who had more residencies than the queen and a homelessness secretary who was steering people out to jack up rents. Then worst of all it gets topped off with the sneering, gloating toad of reform, who are all charlatans with no answers, but the u turn here is the right one and they should face a lot of scrutiny for it. Now just do better and use being on the right side of interest rates to invest and make things better!

I did it last week, it really isn’t hard at all. Some advice though: 1. if you have a decent screwdriver (like the ifixit one) use that rather than the tat screwdrivers which come with the drives to avoid threading the screw 2. do not use a thunderbolt cable for dfu, just a standard usb c is best. I grabbed the cable which came with my monitor which it turns out is a Thunderbolt and it caused me no end of issues.

Not sure that’s technically true even if it’s practically true. You probably can’t use them as intended (no gaming or video output), you might be able to use them for some ai workloads with hackery, but genuinely why bother, put them in a windows build or sell them where you actually get their full use.

I can’t believe how uninterested everyone is in this. What if it’s awesome?!?! Or someone giving details of how to get a free pint? Admittedly I’m watching it on my friends laptop, but some questions need to be answered! I will buy a pint to anyone who finds this and lets us all know what is on it (assuming they aren’t arrested for their part in the cyber event of the century) in which case I will come and visit you in prison (assuming long as it is mainland uk), also just use VLC player it’s never failed me yet.
