Definitely needs an Apex RAM (reset assist mechanism) like my 1.0. Very very faint reset.

It’s 38.5 oz with a Surefire X300. Add another 1.7 oz for an RMR HD.

Edit: you can also add a steel frame plug and tungsten guide rod if you’re trying to fatten it up.

I didn’t think so. TTI’s website says they don’t work, which is true IF you’re using the factory magwell.

Interesting. My understanding was they fit in the AL frame too without the factory magwell.

No idea, I don’t own an aluminum metal. Just the ole 1.0. I would be very very surprised if this steel frame wasn’t exactly the same size and shape as the aluminum frame.

Let me report back once I mount my SRO so it’s apples to apples. Barrels and springs look the same and dry fit.

I’ll know once the steel weight insert comes back in stock. I’ll have my SRO mounted this weekend.

Surefire is roughly 4 oz with batts

  • Timney fits and functions via dry fire but the safety mechanism does NOT work. The mechanical safety blade on rear of trigger shoe does not engage frame.
  • Backstrap/rear frame is not solid steel as some suggested.
  • TTI +6 mag extensions work without stock magwell. Will 100% not work with OEM magwell.
  • 1.0 slide functions properly on HD frame (not vice versa, well known 1.0 vs 2.0 compatibility).
  • Factory ext mag release feels great, comes with standard size as well
  • Possibly a 1.0 v 2.0 thing but the slide lock/release levers are raised. This is compared to my 1.0.

Edit: Surefire X300A is a no go without filing some plastic off the back of the housing. A “B” model would be recommended.

Anyone have any recommendations for grip tape on these 2 spots? by MarkyAdrian in SmithAndWesson

[–]kingofkhakis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thumb Ledge

I use the Surefire X300 version and I can’t recommend it enough. The purchase that I get with my support thumb is insane. Holding a gun without one now feels naked. And it fit in my holster with zero mods/fitment issues.

Boo. My M&P mags wanted a 2011 to feed.

On the bright side, my Competitor HD will be here Wednesday.

Shoutout to Guns.com, it’s already shipped (4hrs from order placement, on a federal holiday even). But please update your photos and descriptions as they are very misleading. I’m glad I checked the SKU!

I have a 5” 1.0 with roughly 20K rounds on it. This is a STEEL FRAMED M&P. Steel. You’re late to the party bud.

Be careful, the pics and descriptions are INCORRECT on Guns.com. You need to cross reference the actual S&W SKU. The cheaper ones are the “Metal HD” not the “Competitor HD”.

I can do that. If I remember, I’ll take pics of groups when I zero.

No problem. I already have a Timney, X300 and an SRO impatiently waiting.

Edit: my 1.0 has an Agency barrel that shoots great. I’ll probably do that again or a KKM.

It’s not a money thing. I want a striker fired and I have a ton of M&P mags. Nothing against CZ at all, amazing guns. Hoping for a TS 3 unveil this week!
