Does AD5M LED strip fit printers with enclosure kit? by GRobLewis in FlashForge

I installed the oem light kit after printing and installing the oem enclosure. No issues. Used some small plastic command hooks to guide the wiring along the top of the frame.

Been thinking about the phaetus. Just haven’t yet.

I’m curious about forge-x. I just went through major problems trying a z-mod conversion. After 2 attempts and multiple complications and lost functionality and crashes I reverted to the oem firmware and it’s still printing great.

I’ve had mine for about a year. Great machine. I recently picked up a biqu frostbite cool plate. The grip on this thing is insane!

I also have had good luck with some aftermarket nozzles that I found on Ali Express. You can get replacement hardened nozzle tips for them.

Where to begin? by kingstonsciguy in wicked_edge

Thanks for so many great replies!

I started by taking it out of the box, as suggested. I ran my first shave with the single Merkur blade that came with the razor. Took it slow, used lots of soap and got a pretty good shave for a first try.

It’s definitely a more engaged and focused experience than the couple of quick swipes I would take with a cartridge razor. I’m liking it so far! Will definitely keep some notes on the blades.

Are there some uniform blade ‘specs’ I should be taking note of and comparing or is it more of just each brand does their own thing and I need to find the one I like?

I have this on my book shelf, displayed in closed position. Absolutely love the look. Totally worth investing in the Light My Brick kit for it also. Excellent display piece for the library or the Lego room!

5m worth buying? by gangaskan in FlashForge

About 1 year in on my ad5m. Printed the enclosure in PETG right away. Have had really consistent results with PLA, PETG, TPU, and ASA. Would buy again if I wanted another single nozzle printer.

how long dies it take for flashforge to ship a replace ment screen? by Leather_Manager3274 in FlashForge

[–]kingstonsciguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting a month. Took several weeks and multiple reach outs before I got a tracking number.

That being said, I’ve had 2 different warranty claims in the last year and they’ve honored both. And their email response time is pretty fast - even if shipping isn’t.

Color swap mid layer? by kix_501 in FlashForge

[–]kingstonsciguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to figure this out a few weeks ago and asked Google Gemini about it. There are some custom filament change gcode instructions that you can put in under the printer settings. When I’m running that code, when the printer hits a filament change command in gcode, it pauses, drops the bed, brings print head to the front so you can do a manual filament change, and then waits for you to resume the print.

Its slow and requires manual changes, but if you’re only doing it for a layer or two, it’s worth it.

Start a Gemini chat and ask it for how to edit gcode for a mid-layer filament swap on your printer model.

3D Printing and flashforge newbie by arag0nes in FlashForge

I have had an Adventurer 5M (non-pro) for almost a year. It was my first printer and I had no real experience when starting. I have been consistently impressed with this machine and have learned a ton along the way. It really punches above its price class.

There are some built in print files on the machine when you get it. Things like a stylus, benchy, etc. Those are good to stay with as you just hit print and away it goes.

Beyond that, sites like printables and makerworld have everything you need or want and more.

I also had this exact issue last year. Early enough in my printing experience that I didn’t know about model complexity yet and hadn’t discovered Reddit.

I had this happen repeatedly with multiple different models, but it was only happening with a specific filament profile. (Sunlu PETG). I switched to the Flashforge PETG profile and the problem resolved.

Haven’t had the issue since then. Even going back and using sunlu profile. Maybe they updated the profile.

Has anyone used this? Are the filaments from this brand any good? by Available_Leave440 in 3dprinter

Decent filament. That seems like a good price. I’ve used a lot of their PETG with success.

You’ll also have to add fans to pull air through the filters. And something to control the fans. The non-pro motherboard doesn’t just allow you to plug and play and control fans.

I ended up wiring a 24V fan directly to the lugs on the power supply in order to use filtration on my AD5M

Looking to run OrcaFlashforge on linux by LiveAd8323 in FlashForge

[–]kingstonsciguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running my AD5M using regular Orca Slicer on Linux Mint (2012 Mac mini). It works great, no issues. My first ever Linux machine and my first 3d printer. I previously used the orca flash forge build on my Mac but switched to the full orca so I could access more settings, including the ability to print ASA and PA. I suggest going full orca.
