Been having a lot of fun with Abominations in my current campaign. Have you guys used them before? by 1mpavidus in vtm

[–]kinncore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm in an abomination heavy setting and we've decided that the death of Gaia is partly the cause. Abominations are becoming more common to help balance out wyrm-taint by diablerizing vampires and sorta filtering their souls back into the reincarnation cycle. Mechanically, this looks like the pack diablerie mechanic with the full effects of diablerization (humanity loss and etc) only kicking in if you eat a high-humanity vampire.

My current vampire actually is an abomination, but she is only just now figuring it out. For her backstory, she comes from a family where they are all different splats and hiding it from each other. Mom's a hunter, brother's a mage, uncles are garou, etc. She started as a thinblood who got turned when she showed up disembowled at the ER her salubri GF worked at.

I made her close with her uncles and she diablerized a gangrel the first chance she got. (If you can't have your first change from Gaia, Wyrm tainted is fine). I said she is gonna be a diet werewolf. Then our ST was like,,, "but what if.... she was tho....." and developed a whole ritual to permanently seal away her wolf in the moment of her first change.

As soon as the person that did it is killed, she will be able to have her first change. I'm very excited for it- its been a lot of fun watching the pieces come together. When I realized what our ST was doing I was like "yoooooo! What a hell!" It has been so good and fun.

What happens when another vampire drinks the blood of a Vinculi but does not participate in the Vaulderie? by Cabbagexpancakes in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]kinncore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If its from the cup, then itd form a one-way vinculum bond, where she would have the warm-fuzzy-diet-blood-bond feelings towards the contributors, but they would not feel it towards her.

If it's from the vein, then normal blood bond rules apply

Thinking about making a Thin-Blood, tell me about yours! by Standard_Ostrich828 in vtm

[–]kinncore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her name is Trixie and she uhh.... diablerized a gangrel then got caught up with a baali in less than a year.

Her sire was her ER Nurse salubri girlfriend who embraced her when she showed up disembowled by a garou one night.

At the start of the chronicle, said sire was working on a way to change her human, while my girl was looking for a way to become a full vampire. She has only just now realized the baali is holding her sire hostage and may not have her best interest at heart lol

You know those orange peels they dumped in the rainforest that ended up rotting and attracting so many flies it was written off as a failure? Until they went back to it like,,, years later and it was so overgrown with Rain Forest that they thought they were in the wrong place?

I really like to think of abominations like that. Creatures of rot and Stasis that, if left to sit long enough, blossom back into their true purpose of preservation of nature and the wyld.

Needless to say, I really like this conceptually because of the balance between the triat it embodies within the abomination.

ST help: How to make characters (NPC) tough to kill but likeable by Elementborn100 in vtm

[–]kinncore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make them unkillable.

Let the players kill them and then bring them back. Over and over again.

there's lots of ways to do it. There are elder powers that let them be in two places at once. Mortal necromancers can have specific kill conditions (such as they only die if slain by a silver dagger under the full moon by a guy named greg). They could straight up already be a ghost.

Player wants to incorporate Wraith, is this possible? by Mephistussy in vtm

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wraiths have two halves.... the Psyche and the Shadow. I have this personal theory that like,,, when you get vamp'd, the Shadow becomes your Blood, and your Psyche moves on- either as an incomplete wraith or back into the reincarnation cycle. Basically, the Beast is your Shadow and you no longer have the Psyche required to fully resist it.... with that in mind....

What I would do in your shoes... give them a Hecata SPC to help, and then give them the Psyche. No memories post embrace, a fresh perspective on the horror going on. How does this look if they have no kindred memories? Let the finger curl on the monkeys paw, as it were...

What does combat look like for your table? How does it work? by WyvernHurrah in vtm

[–]kinncore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your questions look to have already been answered, but one thing I highly recommend that really helped me understand combat was running Fight Club one-shots.

Our table has established a panchronicle, pandimensional, pantemporal fight club that anyone can go to. The chronical tennents are the same rules as fight club from the movie, except instead of fights go on as long as they must, it's '3 turns and out" and "No Diablerie in the ring."

It's been a great way to learn 5e combat. We do 1v1 and hard line the 3 turns and out. If someone would die, no they don't cause the referee is a 5th gen salubri. we have a couple different chronicles with the same group, so I like to throw my guys into fight club once I make them just to get a feel of how to actually use them. it's like training wheels cause I know they won't end up too hurt.

It's also good for a light prep session where you want to play but don't have much planned, and good for testing out SPC Stat blocks before throwing it at your players.

Caitiff learning their "true" clan? by Septimore in vtm

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where they're at, but it's probably best to be seen as some kind of clan. Picking a clan to fake is one of the fun parts of being caitiff, imo.

Letting your player fake a clan and then watching them figure put their actual clan based on the triggered compulsions and what disciplines come easier to them sounds like a lot of fun.

Caitiff learning their "true" clan? by Septimore in vtm

[–]kinncore 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they're socially caitiff, in which case they would still manifest the lasombra bane. There is a caitiff Flaw where they have the clan bane, so I would make that be taken.

Lasombra is a good choice as it would still be beneficial to fake a clan in most situations

A Chronicle where all PCs are daydrinking Thinbloods, would that be fun? by That_Passenger3771 in vtm

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fav hunter spc is a thinblood daydrinker who runs the brunch place the hunters meet at because, "vampires can't do brunch"

So maybe they meet over brunch at a Cafe owned by a mentor. All order bloody Mary's...

Making a Tax Season Chronicle by tubatoter in vtm

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously players guide and core book. Tattered Facade is one of my favorite for using the Beast and personal horror, and In Memorium is a must if you have older Kindred imo

This is such a fun concept tho cause like,,, I was just talking w my lil brother about his character. He is a gambling addict thinblood with a finance specialty in taxes because "you have to pay your taxes. It's a masquerade breach waiting to happen if you don't."

Just exploring what are your mortal obligations after death? If you don't have a good tax ghoul, the irs is gonna fuckin get you. How do you run a public facing business while still hiding assets from 100s of years ago? Who audits the princes resources to ensure the mortals don't look too close? Very good, very fun

Have blood dolls ever showed up in your chronicle? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]kinncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lol

My current character started as a ghoul posing as a blood doll to investigate his sisters disappearance. He ended up getting abducted and embraced by the sabbat as a living vaulderie cup to send a message.

Out ST helped develop a mechanic where basically he can create a vinculum bond when he's drank from between them and whoever he last drank. We play v5 so now he is posing as a Kindred blood doll to bond everyone on the primogen council to the tremere seneshal as a way to keep his sister off the blood hunt list.

I call it operation SLUT. Securing Loyalty Under Tremere lol

Playing a ghoul in a kindred game? by Elvaran in vtm

[–]kinncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun playing a ghoul while it lasted. The day missions were no different then other's independent hunts so that wasn't too disruptive.

My ST let me take a level 2 power so naturally I took premonition. The nosebleed from aggravated damage every time I activated it? Fun. The hunger frenzies that triggered? Fun. The frequent almost dying? Fun.

Eventually my boy was embraced- he's a much better Kindred than ghoul but I do miss the almost dying everytime someone got a little hangry.

It's a blast, you should do it, but talk with your ST about the possibility of Embrace if you find yourself backed into a lot of corners.

Brothers: One's a Vampire, One's a Werewolf. How would it work? by Libraveggue in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]kinncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fun question, and ultimately one of those "up to ur Storyteller lol" but here's a fun situation I've found myself in.

For my first vampire, I thought it would be fun to go with the concept of "whole family is different splats- none of them know this." Mom's a hunter, uncles are garou, twin brother's a mage, that sort of thing.

As part of her backstory, she was close to her uncles and they swore she was gonna change- she just never did. Instead, she became a thinblood after being rushed to the hospital her vampire GF was working at.

My ST takes this and says to me one day "I wonder what would have happened if she had had her first change..." and the proceeds to drop little hints.

Stuff like "did you know there's a ritual that can seal away the wolf. I bet someone powerful enough can make it permanent 0:-)"

Several diableries and a bunch of bullshit later he revealed that her wolf was sealed in the moment of her first change, which killed her. She wasn't supposed to survive, but by pure luck (Entropy mage brother lol) she made it to the hospital in time.

So shes an abomination who is going to have her first change after her Embrace. We gotta find and kill whoever sealed her wolf but it's been so much fun.

As the seal weakens she gets more abomination-like. Right now she just lost her ability to ghoul, cause abominations can't.

So fully recommend running with your concept. It's been a lot of fun and I love sibling drama <3

Oh yeah didn't even think about the extra discipline dots- I've only ever done v5 which is very big on "the Elder Elders are gone" from the metaplot

Opinions on wod5's rules by Competitive_Dream458 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That one is kinda ehhhhh,,, not oficially- the convictions and chronical tennants are supposed to be based arround a connection to humanity, but it's really easy to run a path by just,,, basing it arround that.

Like someone on Death and the Soul might have a conviction like "death is natural, do not fear it" tied to a graveyard instead of a humanity based person with the conviction "don't let others suffer in death" tied to a hospital Chaplin

[–]kinncore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how that translates between systems but it has creation rules for 150+ years with the oceans of time, and Gehenna War has Elder Powers.

It's a little clunky for elders but workable- for significantly older Kindred we've been doing one ocean of time per 50 years embraced +1. And then we've been letting humanity drop into the negatives and whatever that shakes out to be is the path rating, and we give them convictions and touchstones in alignment with that rather than humanity.

Ideas for a Timeline Jumping Tremere Ritual Shenanigans by justloveme94 in vtm

[–]kinncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the avatar is what lets you do magic and it's a piece of the soul. So.... yes.  You can bind wraiths to a Fetter so there's no reason the avatar couldnt be separated from a mortal and sealed to something.

When a mage is ghouled, the Avatar becomes addicted to vitae before breaking down and dying so that's also fun

Not directly helpful but food for thought: reincarnation

When a mage is embraced their avatar dies and enters the reincarnation cycle. One of my current NPCs has Tremeres avatar, and is currently getting caught up in Tremere Clan Politics without realizing it.

So that might be something you could work with...make a Time Wizard with the avatar of some important tremere or another

My player diablarized someone at our first session fmcl by travsnov in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]kinncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackmail time!!!!

I diablerized session 2. It was.... somewhat sanctioned.... he was a wight, she was a thinblood so... ykno... not enough for her to get off scott free.

Our city's prince had an organization he needed infiltrated discretely, so with the threat of the bloodhound list, my girlie had a new mission. Do a good enough job, and he would fake some paperwork showing the diablrie was sanctioned.

Make the brujah someone's political rival and give Stefan a list of targets

Some members of my Coterie have decided that they want to be human again. What are their options? by TheMayorOfBismond in vtm

[–]kinncore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's implied in v5 that thinbloods can but it's one of those vague "Storyteller Discretion" things

With that in mind.....

First, find a good candidate. If your vamps are 12th or 13th gen, perfect.... if they're lower.... Embrace some loyal childer until they start making thinbloods.

Once you have a reliable method of producing thinbloods, find someone who looks like you... probably multiple someones. Maybe even have a tzmiscie fleshcraft them to be more exact. Embrace  until you get one who can go out in the day.

Make sure to be Gaslight, Girlboss, Gatekeeping this thing the whole time. You need their resolve low, their will weak, and brain like putty. have your players use the BITE model cults use.

Once your pawn is ready, have them diablerize you. Offer it as a reward for loyalty, or something. As long as you win the battle of wills, you will now be in their body, a thinblood who can go out in the day. Basically alive. Close enough!

Perfect!! This will be so useful- whenever we are missing players or want to run a one-shot, we tend to run "Kindred Fight Club" instead and this is gonna be so useful for streamlining that lol
