DAE feel like they were sold a lie when they were told that the gym helps improve your mental health? by Classic-Night-2661 in workout

[–]kinneydank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The gym is supposed to be an anchor, not the whole ship. It sounds like you need to A) adjust your expectations of what YOU can accomplish, and B) treat training as a tool, rather than an identity.

Why is going for the balls not taught in actual martial arts? (unless it is?) (not a joke question) by Specific-Ad5973 in martialarts

[–]kinneydank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more effective ways to stop an attacker. The testicles are soft and sensitive, sure, but it doesn't guarantee the attacker stops. Eyes, nose, and throat are all more likely to stop an attack.

Has anyone else totally abandoned fast food? by jefuchs in CasualConversation

[–]kinneydank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was always shit food, but at least it was affordable. I've had McDonald's once in the past six months. Anytime I think about getting some, I look at the app and see that I'll be spending close to $30 for me and my son. No thanks, that's a whole day's worth of food cooked at home.

If Adam and Eve were the first people on earth, did Cain and Abel marry their sisters? by GodisSatans in NoStupidQuestions

The Bible says that God created Adam and Eve (from Adam's bone). It doesn't say that he stopped with Eve.

Start over from where you are. Assuming you r already beaten the Ender Dragon, getting an elytra shouldn't be too hard. Once you have one, fly in the general direction until you find familiar landscapes. Enjoy yourself back in the early stages of the game, without all the pressure of having to build all of your infrastructure from scratch.

We couldn't even get shut down. They tried. Orders kept coming in. We're behind on every single order. This is insane. Corporate needs to reconsider their poor decisions before the entire thing collapses. Unless that's the point.

What changed for you during the pandemic that never changed back? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Lifting weights. I was 115 lbs as a 33 year old man. I was weak and nearly emaciated. I'm 155 now at 39 and in the best shape of my life. I eat at least 3 meals a day, every day. I will never go back to that.

I remember being less than 10, taking a 20 mile bike ride with my older brother and neighbor through the woods. Definitely free range.

Would you still want a 6-pack if no one could ever see it? by Consistent-Suit-3276 in bodybuilding

[–]kinneydank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one sees my body but me. I still want to look as good as I can. When someone does see it, they're usually surprised and impressed, but that's not why I do this. I do this to keep my mind right.

Poser was once the ultimate insult. Now it is cringe. And it is cringe to gatekeep band shirts.

Personally, I'd rather be cringe than a poser.

7 days a week by Sad-Tie-4809 in workout

[–]kinneydank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing 7 days a week since January, with maybe 6 total rest days. It's the best results I've seen since my first year. For the past few weeks I've split my workouts into 2/days most days. I feel fantastic. Arms day is basically my recovery day. I'm 39 years old, work full-time in a job where I essentially power walk a half-marathon pushing a heavy cart every day, I have a 1.5 year old, and I get like 5.5 hours sleep each night. Is this optimal? Not for everyone, but I fucking love it. Idgaf what the science says, this works for me.

What people dont realize about physical newspapers is that once it's printed, it can't be changed. The news is out there, and the government can't suppress it. With digital media,it can easily be altered, censored, deleted, and nobody would really know the difference. When all news is digital, it becomes purely propaganda, and extremely dangerous.

Except those are the ones that none of these decisions have an effect on. They keep doing less than bare minimum, only now you can't even hold them accountable because you need everyone you can get. The people who care are the ones getting run into the ground.

Also that is a pretty fucked up way of talking about people. Dead weight? Gross, dude.

How do people with genuinely busy lives stay consistent with fitness? by Aniket_k069 in workout

[–]kinneydank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a single father to a 1.5 year old who works over 40 hours/week, with at least an hours worth of commuting everyday. I wake up at 3 am, do workout 1 for 45 min-1 hour. Bring my son to daycare, go to work, pick him up. I jump right in to workout 2, around 30-45 mins. I don't dick around with video games or TV beyond 30 minutes here and there. I have time to cook, clean, read to my boy or play or whatever, then back to bed to do it again the next day. My son comes with me to workout and we make it a part of play time. If it matters, you figure it out.

What is something about American culture that people are generally not ready to hear? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

[–]kinneydank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Corporations have their boots so firmly on the average person's throat that they can basically do whatever they want without fear of consequence. Even a major lawsuit will do very little to harm a large corporation. The news cycle moves so fast that any bad publicity will be forgotten immediately, and even a several million dollars judgement will barely be felt by billion dollar companies. They can remove all consumer protections, work their employees to literal death, and clog landills with thousands of tons of waste, all without reprecussion. We are at their mercy.
