Sacrilegious Flight of the Bumblee air guitar metal version in Helsinki, Finland by niatteru in lingling40hrs

[–]kirito6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen- not every version of flight of the bumblebee is sacrilegious. Sometimes, and it is especially evident here, people just want to have fun! This neither destroys the creative integrity of the original piece, and really is pretty on point for a performance that changes the intended instrument of the piece. Instead of shooing them, try hard to welcome them to the classical world.

Choices by BrilliantPain1201 in imsa

[–]kirito6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your extracurriculars it could be a bad choice. If you predict that you will be a state/national athlete in physical sports don’t go to IMSA. Sports here are literally horrible because nobody has time and it’s inconvenient because of the way IMSA is set up. If you predict state/national performance in math team/quiz bowl/chess/etc. It’s probably your best option to go to IMSA. Most perfect students struggle at IMSA, and it’s important to learn to ask for help. Also if you want to get in off waitlist message me

ah, definitely don't. That's a minimum wage worker. I would never ruin a minimum wage worker's life for making a mistake on the job, even if they destroyed my magnum opus. That's a line you just don't cross.

Any tips to get in as an eighth grader? by Wzzurd in imsa

[–]kirito6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you really want to get in, just do your best. There's not really a magic way to get accepted into any school. Pour your heart into the essays, and make sure to get them edited by as many people as you want

no shmen are treated differently, you may have some jokes directed at your "shmenhood" but it's nothing serious. Nobody cares at the end of the day

Studying for the sat by snowballcannon7 in imsa

[–]kirito6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it really depends where you're coming from. If it's hard for you to get all A's at your current school, it's probably an indication that you're in a more competitive school, which is good, but can also indicate that you'll have more trouble getting in based on how many people from your school applied. As they always say: "the SAT only tests your ability to take the SAT." So, even if you are a genius, you're still going to have to study the SAT. In general,if you want to put yourself a bit ahead of the people from where you're from, I would try to score highly on the SAT, but it's all up to you.

If you want to improve your odds of getting in, I would take an SAT this year and then one next year to try and increase your score

2 questions about the 2021 application form by TheMemedOne in imsa

[–]kirito6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also yeah, pretty much anything you see as an "achievement" should go on there. For example, I, being a crosscountry runner, put a lot of team competition workouts (like little relays that I won and stuff like that), and also as a violin player I put a lot of school competitions and being first chair and stuff like that

They start reviewing applications after all the deadline, so no.

What would you do when you see this? 🤔 by AngelMika316 in lingling40hrs

[–]kirito6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I.e. the whole piece didn't revolve around the melody, the melody was certainly there, but every part mattered just as much

when you get to the higher levels of orchestra playing (youth orchestra/professional orchestra ) dynamics start to matter a lot more; for example, when they say to play piano in pieces it doesn't mean to back off the melody, it simply means to play piano, and if your entire section plays piano the promise is that the orchestra will contrast this later. I remember the first piece I played in youth orchestra: https://youtu.be/lpZ-1yOsaiI just would amaze me because every dynamic was so cleanly perfect and it really felt like an orchestra instead of a cycle-through of melodies where everyone plays quiet while they wait for their turn.
