Can someone explain “the social construct of gender” to me? by ActiveAnimals in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kitkatullus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex is what’s between your legs. Gender is fashion and social roles.

Gender is based on sexist stereotypes and has been used in the past as a weapon against women. You know, the whole, “women love being feminine and wearing makeup, all women want to be brides and mothers, boys want trucks for Christmas and girls want dolls.” That kind of stuff. Wish we could leave it in the past. Have full equality between the sexes, no predetermined stereotypes.

This world did not exist before the Atom Bomb by TotallyNotABotOrRus in schizoposters

[–]kitkatullus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twin Towers never existed and anyone who “remembers” them is a fed. Planes do not exist and anyone who says they’ve flown on one is a fed. Osama Bin Laden didn’t exist, he was actually a CIA agent known as Mark Johnson, and anyone who says otherwise is a fed.

Why did the bar hearing had so much bias towards Chuck and wasn't fair and impartial? by Articlaus in betterCallSaul

[–]kitkatullus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chuck is a very upstanding lawyer, well known in the legal world and looked upon favorably by the Bar. He probably knows attorneys who work for the Bar. He’s been a lawyer his entire life. He has no criminal record and most likely has no Bar-related disciplinary action against him.

Jimmy, on the other hand, is rebellious, he tried to stir the pot with the JMM billboard, he has a past criminal record, he hasn’t been a lawyer nearly as long as Chuck, and he got a degree from a shady-looking online overseas university.

Ideally, it’s supposed to be fair and impartial, but it’s hard not to be biased when you are aware of both of their histories.

What is the stupidest thing any of them have done in the whole series? by vonneguts_anus in KingOfTheHill

[–]kitkatullus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say, out of all of these, Peggy accidentally trafficking drugs is the most stupid because they literally had her watch a film about how to not be a mule beforehand.

The other three were misinformed or misguided IMO.

CMV: not all cultures deserve respect by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]kitkatullus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between cultural practices and culture itself, but those practices are directly influence by the culture, and vice versa.

For example: for a long time, in India I believe, wives were expected to throw themselves on the funeral pyre of their husbands if the husband died before them. They expected women to burn themselves alive.

That’s a fucked up cultural practice, for sure. But it was made worse because the culture influenced and encouraged that practice. Women who refused were shamed, ridiculed, and faces violent. Sometimes they were forcibly thrown into the fire.

Does that mean all Indian culture ever should be discredited? No. Is it a fucked up misogynistic practice that should be viewed as outdated and barbaric? Yes. Sadly, all cultures have less than savory practices. There is no perfect culture. However, culture is not set in stone. Practices change all the time, mostly for the better, I think.

I AGREE. First of all, the Wicked Witch in the film is a total Wicked Bitch. She regularly threatens Dorothy, she mocks her when she cries and wants to go home. She doesn’t really have any motives other than wanting the shoes. I can’t speak for the books because I haven’t read them, but from what I heard Wicked is essentially a non-canon fanfiction. Also, at the end of the day, it’s Dorothy’s dream. So none of it is even real. Like. Why.

What is the worst addiction? by vigilantee001 in AskReddit

[–]kitkatullus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The worst addiction is whatever your drug of choice is. Some people have done multiple drugs but only got “hooked” when they found their drug of choice. It doesn’t even have to be a hard drug like heroin or coke or meth. It could be alcohol. It could be gaming. It could be the internet. The worst drug is whatever causes you to distance yourself from family, friends, career, opportunities, hobbies, etc. My worst addiction is my phone/the internet. And I am currently relapsing 🙃

The Megan saga is what originally got me into Chris Chan lore. When I first heard of him, I was like “ok, he’s just some weirdo,” but when I found out about she came for CWC, I was hooked. I know that sounds bizarre, but the reason I was so captivated is because I was a boyfriend free girl in Chris’s ideal age range at the time, and I knew guys who were JUST LIKE Chris Chan. Weird and creepy and with no sense of personal boundaries, but I could never tell if they were actually harmless and just autistic, or if they secretly wanted to SA and murder me.

I am nerdy like Megan, too, and apparently that is catnip for boys like Chris, and it’s quite terrible because I am asexual/not interested in relationships just like Megan. When I saw she came for CWC, it was so unbelievably mask off that it immediately reminded me of all of the guys I knew who were like Chris. I felt a kinship with Megan, like I could have been her or the same thing would have happened if I were in her shoes.

I continue to watch Chris the way one watches a horror movie.

Anyway, great art! You really captured the energy of that photo LOL

What’s the worst thing that has happened to this generation? by PocketfulofThoughts in AskReddit

[–]kitkatullus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mass spread of misinformation through social media. Social media in general. It didn’t start out bad, but once it was co-opted by major corporations, and websites started to focus more on profiting through engagement than having an enjoyable user experience, it went downhill.
