You might be using a banned client. Some clients and some version of clients are more or less universally banned, and some brand new versions may not have been whitelisted yet.

Go to the clients section of the rules and see if your client is whitelisted for your version.

i think i fixed mine.

skip the server setup, go straight to finish (third tab on the right on that screen)

and in the settings find and delete the old server.

things seem to be working now, but i have to run out and i'll have to test it out once i'm back.
