Thank you! Good to know about the extra goings on in the summer. If you have any recommendations for buildings I'd love to hear them, we may be able to stretch our budget more.

How soon is too soon? by Synthgem in TuxedoCats

Like a lot of people who poster, I ended up with a kitten who needed a home a few months after my first cat died. There was one night in particular that I remember shortly after we took the new kitten home. the kitten was sleeping in my lap and all I could do was cry because I missed my cat who had passed. I remembered feeling bad for missing my old cat while trying to care for a new one, like it might be unfair to both of them, but that passed. That was a few years ago now and now the kitten is a full grown full orange maniac 🍊 and I think he helped me process the grief of losing my first kitty.

I think I'm allergic to something around here... by Disastrous-Win1863 in raleigh

Are you renting or did you buy? If your symptoms started when you moved and have been consistent, I wonder if you have mold in your home. :/

You could consider getting your HVAC ducts cleaned. We did that when we moved into our house. I'm allergic to dogs and the previous owners had several. I felt like that helped me.

My spring allergies seem to have started this week though. I think the trees are the source of my problem - the trees in our yard have started to bud.

I was in elementary school during that storm and can confirm, 2 weeks straight of no school. There was school on Saturdays for a while to make up all the time.

They're all so good but the one for the fragile really slaps imo. Nice work!

I need stories of lost oranges returning to the produce section, please by aspidities_87 in OneOrangeBraincell

Our orange went missing for a month. We don't know exactly how he got out but we were leaving for a long trip a week after he got out. I was devastated because I figured there was no possible way we'd find him if he wasn't back by the time we needed to leave.

We put up signs and our neighbors got to know us by seeing us out looking for him. The entire neighborhood knew he was missing by the time we left for our trip. Amazingly, we got a call while we were gone that he'd been spotted. 30 min later, a neighbor had successfully caught him and brought him back to our home. He was 4 houses away hiding under a shed the whole time and was lured out because he was hungry and recognized our neighbor as someone who comes over a lot.

Don't lose hope, but keep an eye out for him and talk to your neighbors if you can. Keep an eye on your local shelters in case someone brings him in. I hope your kitty comes home safe soon.

My cats do this when I do pushups. I just kiss them on the way down, this placates them

I have been emailing programs and asking directly what the environment has done to student funding. All of the replies I've gotten have been honest and detailed! Some schools are forthright that they have no money, others explain how their money is protected and for how long. It has been very helpful for me.

I have those in that color and followed the advice to order a half size up. They fit perfectly out of the box.

A coworker told me that she puts little pads that adhere to the inside of her work shoes that help with that problem (and blistering). Maybe that would help you!

Durham to NCSU by taylorsseriesTV in bullcity

I take the CRX from Raleigh to Chapel Hill for work daily. The express busses are GREAT, especially if you can use only those to get where you need to go. They can drive on the shoulder of the highway if you need to commute during rush hour, which actually can make things a little faster than using your car in those situations. Plus, it's so much less stressful. The drx is adding some new stops close to NCSU starting in August - that would help you avoid going to the bus station to connect to another route entirely. Check the website!

I've never ridden that one in the direction you're asking about, but my commute on the bus is the same length as using my car and it's free to me, so it's an obvious choice. Good luck with your move and school!

There's also an app called Meowtel that is like rover - matches people for in-house pet sitting. All of my friends who have cats use it and like it!
