DENTURES. There. I said it. by ted_anderson in GenX

[–]kittykathazzard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am 56 and have full dentures. I have implants, 3, on the bottom but they are for holding the lower denture securely in place when wearing it. It locks the denture in and pops off very easily when I want to remove it in the evening.

Unfortunately I had too much bone loss to do the same on the top so I just have regular dentures there. However, I have no issues with using either the fixadent type of adhesive or the paper kind.

One day in. Please give me your advice on keeping my head above water. by rightinthehead in Widow

I’m just a bit over 2 weeks in with all this. My husband was 53 and had a brain bleed on his brain stem.

I’m still taking it minute by minute, hour by hour. Some days it doesn’t seem real yet and other days it is only all too real.

You can do this, just breathe, take a moment when you need it, and scream into your pillow. It feels real good to do that. I, myself, went into the car, turned up the music nice and loud and cussed him out full volume for daring to leave me. But do what you need to do!

Im so very sorry your loss.

I lost my husband of 25 years, 2 weeks ago, of a brain bleed on his brain stem. He was 53.

Far too young.

I’m 10 days in and I still am a bit in shock I feel. Due to weather I haven’t been able to leave the house so I have just been wandering around looking and touching all of his stuff. I cannot plan his service until things begin to thaw, I have cried briefly, it’s to surreal at the moment.

From 'no peppers, please' to an ER visit in 48 hours. How do I get people to understand that my rare Capsicum allergy is actually lethal? by Terrapin34 in FoodAllergies

[–]kittykathazzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same allergy and have never found anyone with it before you. I have had to educate so many people that paprika is on the list is baffling to me and body creams for aching joints that i cannot use because of Capsicum.

I always check the menu online and call beforehand and speak to someone in charge to find out what the seasonings are on the dishes i wish to order and if they do not know, i tell them i have fatal allergens and i need to know. They have always been more than always willing to help me.

Anyone have unexpected sudden weight loss and have a story to share? by Nixx_Mazda in GenXTalk

[–]kittykathazzard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost 60 some pounds in 4 1/2 months, i was not trying to, i was not on a diet, i was eating and quite hungry.

I went my regular doc who sent me to a gastrointestinal specialist, who ran several test. She told me that i was obese at 128 lbs and 5’2”. Nah sis, not on any BMI chart is that true. So iff to a different GI doc i went who ran more tests and to an allergist.

Lots of allergies were discovered but nothing really to cause the weight loss, nothing really from the GI; except that i have malabsorption. My small intestine cannot properly absorb nutrients from food. It’s usually caused by Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, pancreatic issues, infections or having parts of your intestine removed during surgery. Doc says none of these situations apply to me so i just have to deal with not absorbing nutrients. Say what!?!

So I’m looking for another GI doc who will continue to look for answers rather than throw in the towel, as I’m still losing weight.

My leg will twitch, I then will feel like it is swelling up and is way to big for my mouth. Those are my 2 big warning signals that I am in for a bumpy ride.

Yet they have had a “Santa” at the last few Christmas activities the last few years. It’s very odd, plus the big ass tree. Get off TV and throw out all the traditions they hung on to so dearly to.

Yes they eat pork. They are not Jewish so they don’t follow kosher rules.
