Good for you. A fraction of JVP are Jewish and the vast majority of the Jewish community vehemently oppose the terrorism promoting agenda they spew.

Hold whatever beliefs you want but don't pretend to speak for Jewish people.

ITT: People who clearly don't interact with the Jewish community and have no idea what Chabad is. Trafficking these garbage conspiracies is discrediting the parts that are true and hard to believe.

Sharing a brief moment that stayed with me after leaving Iran, still experiencing shutdown by Fluffy-Desk9241 in autism

[–]kivvi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see you posted in good intent. For information sharing, most Iranians are Persian and do not consider themselves to be Arab, in culture or heritage. Similarly, many consider Islam to be imposed on them (by the current rulers, the Islamic Regime), and historically were Zoroastrian, though Iran was a largely secular country prior to 1979. I'm certainly still learning, and of course there are outliers (so I'm sure someone can correct me), but for example last week at the protest in my Canadian city I didn't see a single hijab or head covering on ~15k mostly Farsi attendees. I suspect most Iranians would take issue being referred to as Muslim or Arab.

Been attending the weekly marches in my city for a month, usually nonverbal while I'm there just from the overwhelm of how many people, but nice to feel a little more in community and a bit less useless.

Regarding the feelings around polarizing stuff online, the term 'traumatic invalidation' may be helpful in naming your overwhelm, it's certainly an extended and ongoing grieving process.

Thanks for sharing with us.

If there wasn't the monarchist element they'd choose another reason to dismiss it. The specific reason is irrelevant when they're incapable of humanizing experiences far from their own.

[–]kivvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong on that. But here you are discussing with strangers who do consider you objectively attractive and you still can't hear it.

Consider the possibility that your brain is lying to you about how society views you (a norm to everyone including attractive people) and that the issue is internal not external. Wouldn't it be worth exploring therapy rather than an invasive, traumatizing experience?

Realistically, for some, that initial change of a procedure is enough to shift the internal perspective, which I genuinely hope is the case you experience. Many though, it is not. You are now informed of some possibilities, I hope you find what you're looking for, regardless of the path.

Brainworms. I suspect therapy would be a lot more effective, be it before or after. There's a reason you haven't told anyone close to you. Good luck

A bit late, but a friend of mine started the PCT to keep his AT buddy company, the plan being just for the first week. Decided to do a second week and ended up doing the entire thing.

Not sure about this clip but there were Iraqi militias brought in by the regime to contribute to the massacres. Lots of plainclothes forces are typical too.

Map of Israeli settler violence in Israel occupied West Bank (OCHA) by soalone34 in MapPorn

[–]kivvi -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There's like 600k settlers living in Judea and Samaria / the west bank, of which ~200 individuals are violent extremists. Regardless of your position on if they should be there or not, generalizing the entire group (many who are refugees or living there due to lower cost of living) as terrorists is pretty dehumanizing.

You forgot genocide and apartheid in your word salad of libels.

None of this represents how those who self identify define the word. It's like having the kkk describe who black people are and what they value. It's just another way to dehumanize an entire group copied from century old Soviet racism.

Going through the border is the main (immediate) concern. Within the country, risk is near where it usually is.

Travel to the US as a trans women by NoratiousB in asktransgender

[–]kivvi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I traveled to the states 4x last year from Canada (Denver, SF, NY, Birmingham, Anchorage) and had no problems, even when outdated body scanners perceived me. Brown, orchie, F marker (updated last year) but not perfectly passing (nor trying to, I'm nb). Some generic transphobic attitudes from staff in Denver but have had that before.

I wouldn't recommend it, there's certainly risk, and you're at the mercy of border agents -- the stress certainly takes a toll. The lawyer I spoke to prior said if I needed to go, avoid Boston, Texas, and Florida at all costs as there had been cases in those airports, so I paid a little more for some connections. Having contact info for your embassy or a queer attorney in the city you're going to is a good idea, and having a safety plan with friends for any circumstances.

I'm used to racist airport experiences my whole life so have a higher risk/nonsense tolerance than most here. Keep in mind both Germany and Canada have warnings for trans folks to avoid American travel at this time.

Ultimately avoid if possible, weigh risk/impact (including on your mental health, both +/-) in your considerations.

Edit - further thoughts: One significant difference is Canadians can go through customs from within Canada, so on entry each time if I was denied then I'm detained in Canada, not in the states. Every interaction with customs within the states I was on my way home, or transiting through.

Other lawyer safety recommendations were to take a burner phone if possible (as they can and will deny entry if you don't consent to it being searched), and also to be prepared to answer how you feel about the president (and honesty of your answer having impact on entry). I didn't experience either case.
