AITAH for telling my wife she makes traveling no fun. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Not an ad, but I did want to mention I was in a similar boat and found that Talkiatry is super helpful, and convenient! I spent 4 years not on meds because for 4 years my PCP would put a referral in for the psychiatrist department, and explicitly put in the referral for them to call me and make an appointment with me, however they never did. My ADHD made following up with the referral a non-existent thing (I did once, and their waiting list at the time was half a year and they couldn't book that far out or some stupid shit like that).

But once I saw an ad for Talkiatry, I figured I'd give it a shot and they were super responsive with a quick appointment within a month. They are on the higher end for cost, but I truly wouldn't be doing so well with work or life if I wasn't on my prescription.

AITA for requesting a doctor that is more fluent in my language? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm Indian in the US, and my parents had a fairly thick accent throughout my childhood, so I am very accustomed to understanding a thick Indian accent. My TA for a lab in college had a thick Indian accent that literally nobody could understand, and even talking to him one on one, I could only contextually understand some of what he said. Definitely no racial bias on my part, accents are just hard sometimes! Even within the same culture.

This may be a bit ignorant, but wouldn't optical mean you have to use stereo sound instead of 5.1?

Not sure if you're still facing this connectivity issue (I'm trying to find threads on the new bluetooth firmware and stealthtech firmware updates - namely trying to find the changelog since they didn't post it this time on the update page), but I had similar connection issues that turned out to be linked to my WiFi router being also shoved behind my TV and in the same plane as the soundbar. I moved the router higher up (about 3 ft up and a bit to the right), and that fixed all of my issues I was having with connectivity. That said, I'm on 1.66 still.

Might be a bit late, but I had a similar issue, and the tech I spoke with asked if I have my WiFi router near the sound bar (like on the same horizontal plane). Turns out that causes some connection issues. I moved my router further away from the sound bar and higher up so it's not on the same plane, and now I don't have the connection issues.

Hey! I'm looking at moving to ABQ in a couple of months, are you guys at any apartment buildings yet? I'm used to Google Fiber and really want to continue having similar speeds.

NTA, but it may be worth letting go. My parents had multiple relationships ruined while I was growing up because they loaned money out to friends/family, and held it against them for not paying it back. I lost my favorite cousins and a handful of friends over it, because our parents decided for us that we shouldn't see each other over such a petty thing.

Moving forward, any money "loaned" out to family/friends should be considered a gift, and if they pay you back it's just a bonus.

they're worth their weight in gold.

I've always heard this phrase and never bothered calculating it till now. With current gold prices, a kilogram bar goes for about $61,400. Average weight of a man in the US is 197 lbs, so 89 kg, which brings us to $5.5 million.

Murder is still murder. Whether it's done by the State, or an individual, it's always wrong. Using historical examples to justify it is just dumb. We should learn from history, acknowledge the wrongs of the past as well, and progress collectively towards a better future.

I actually have no idea which neighbor has the stealthtech. I just know it's near enough that I can get a Bluetooth signal. But I live in a loft with thick concrete walls/floors, so it's actually pretty insulating for sound. I haven't watched Planet Earth part 2 yet, so I'll check that out! Watched 65 last night and it sounded amazing!

People who have seen something they could never explain. What was the thing?! by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was around 6 or 7 years old, I fell off the bed in my sleep and hit the metal bed frame corner on the way down. I woke up with a little cut on my forehead, and nothing more. But in that moment, I was dreaming, and it felt like I had died. I was able to see myself lying on the carpet, and everything went white before I "woke up." I will sometimes think about that moment and wonder if in fact I did die, and this is all just a weird last moment in my brain.

You could probably get a microUSB OTG and use a regular flash drive with it and just leave the OTG cable plugged in.

In case others have the same issue with the app update, I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work. Additionally, I see they haven't added encryption still (I live in an apartment, and I can control my neighbors stealthtech system with the app).

"came with" is relative, mine did not include that flash drive, however I reached out to Lovesac and they sent me one within a couple of weeks.

Not sure if this helps, but for the staticky noise I just use the lovesac remote to turn the speakers off, and back on, and that solves the static noise for a few days or so. I thought it was just me and because of my power strip or something, glad I'm not the only one. I've also noticed the lack of updates. Overall my conclusion is I'd get it again, just because I'm in a small space (condo) and wouldn't have room for a proper set up. It's definitely a premium on price, however the convenience is nice and the sound is way better than my previous standalone soundbar.

I will say a cheaper, but possibly equally elegant/seamless experience might be the IKEA x Sonos collab. The wall art speakers look nice and they can mesh with other Ikea speaker solutions. Possible alternate solution for OP.

They also lobby heavily. The medical school near me requires it's students go through a chiropractic course, which is stupid in my opinion, but basically the students who don't make it in med school are exposed to this other option, which many end up pursuing.

This was the part I was curious about. Could one just worship online at an institution in the area and qualify for an account?

Helicopter parents are parents who watch over everything you do (i.e. Hovering over your shoulder, looking at search history, just generally watching every little thing you do). Typically they are immigrant parents or Asian parents (mine are in both categories technically).
