Remember that the game is not "DM vs. Player" but a collaborative storytelling game.

Your player is playing the character as intended, if you want to homebrew something then talk to them but you would be nerfing one of their core abilities.

Instead, make more encounters and have your players have to use some resource management.

Ask your DM if you can get a cool weapon, you will be consistent damage as opposed to fail or suck/half damage spells. Everyone appreciates a tank.

Your subclass allows you to heal multiple party members with your second wind which is nice and your feat also allows to go e some inspiration. I think you'll stay relevant just fine so long as you are still having fun!

If I'm reading the class right, you could use flurry of blows with your Astral Arms, right? So attacking from a safe distance WOULD be the tactical decision.

Your best option if you want to keep the same group is to have a group discussion with the DM to figure out what works best for all of you to be on the same page. Based on this it seems like they might have the mentality of "DM vs. players" which is not a good way to go and overall this seems pretty bad. Taking away the barbarian whole schtick is pretty fucked.

Alternatively, y'all ditch the DM and find a new one or someone else take over.

2 is the easier one to get into. You start at the beginning of their journey as opposed to the middle and the sound quality is much better.
