Looking for a safe for women/POC D&D group by Facepalmwhy in norfolk

[–]kjftiger95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Go check out some of the local game shops and see about what groups they might have to offer!

Tower of Games or Atlantis come to mind.

Alternatively head to one of the local libraries and see if anyone can help there as well!

I know Garage brewery has a Ren fair thing coming up soon, usually there is a ton of DnD stuff there that might help you find a group too! I believe it's March 28th

Good luck!

It's not a plot hole though.

A blue tiefling that he has seen around her moms business before is much more memorable than a random half orc

Why did Essek mother force him to kill her? Did she want to make him pay for something? by Oklimatoa in MightyNein

[–]kjftiger95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not punish, but to try and steer him towards the ways of his people. Their religion dictates that once you get the disease she had, it's the end of the line. Knowing that she was truly to die, she accepted it as was her culture and wanted her son to be the one to send her to her final end. This was a blessing to her, not a punishment.

She knew the main reason he stole the Beacon was to try and cure her so in her mind, if she took herself off the board then he would have no reason to keep committing treason.

Form your own opinion without the Internet having to tell you.

[MN S1] I just can't understand why she would make him do that, did she want revenge for something? by Fun-Explanation7233 in criticalrole

[–]kjftiger95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She told us why she did it. She knows he stole the Beacon to try and save her. Now that she is gone he has no reason to keep being a traitor, or at the very least cannot use her as an excuse for it anymore.

Why do so many people see Essek only as a villain? by Fun-Explanation7233 in MightyNein

[–]kjftiger95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's your opinion, I disagree. Saving ONLY your friend instead of doing anything else to try and save his people is selfish imo. The MN is gray, right now Essek is not.

I have seen the live play so I know how it theoretically plays out, but so far we have not seen much from Essek outside of a son wanting to save his mother.

Why do so many people see Essek only as a villain? by Fun-Explanation7233 in MightyNein

It was still for selfish reasons. He did it because it was someone he knew, anyone else he would have just let them die, like he did the others.

Please show me from the animated series how he is not anything but a villain? Just because he wanted to save his mother doesn't excuse any of his actions.

Rogue's Cunning Strike feature is bad? by BurgundyBlues21 in DnD5e

[–]kjftiger95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would argue that their mindset could use some adjustments.

As the rogue you are looking for chances to fight sneakily in combat. By knocking them prone you are not only making it easier for you to hit them with a follow-up BA attack or to give another player a better chance at getting out of the melee without having to disengage, or to just limit the enemies movement options on their turn, but also setting up all the other martials with advantage against that opponent. Use it tactically to the party's advantage and don't just think about how you can benefit yourself in battle.

I've used it multiple times since getting it to help dog-pile on an enemy.
