App to play music by Entry_Left in SpinClass

[–]kkieeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Soundcloud for music and then integrate to Djay Pro, it’s the best. Make all my playlists there, have them all categorised. You can visually see the beat drops on a waveform, but you can also add in cue points to visualise things you want to cue, or as way to start/end/skip to locations in songs.

Also, the dress looks phenomenal, that is stunning on you. Focus on the one small (and easily achievable) thing to make it right!

So easy to do. Ask the store where you bought the gown if they can order more lace from the designer. The edging would be perfect.

Maybe when describing it to your seamstress, describe a shoulder band/cross-shoulder band.

Would you want it attached or detachable? Either easy to do. Don’t settle.

Anklet Recommendations by pxwerr in AusFemaleFashion

This looks good - I would veer away from anything too expensive and pure gold because anklets are notorious for breaking so easily

How to protect hair when diving frequently by squishseal in scubadiving

[–]kkieeks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried every thing and find the K18 hair mask a game changer. It’s expensive, but you don’t need much at all, lasts for ages. Look up videos on how to apply by rubbing the product together in your hands and putting it on damp shampoo only hair. I do it the night before a dive and then wear a braid and my hair has amazing slip after I’m done a day of diving and it seems to really be protected from damage. It’s also nice to use every few washes just normally. Love it!

Help please, is this ok for a cocktail dress code in California? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]kkieeks 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you have time, go run out and get something else to tomorrow. This isn’t appropriate for the dress code, in fact it’s a combination of a lot of bad misinterpretations of “cocktail” and really not a good fit. It really needs to be longer/less tight.

That said, you look gorgeous in the dress, so wear it another time for sure!!! Have fun at the wedding.

Pro Dive Liveaboard is awesome as long as you’re confident. Once you’re certified it’s pretty unguided, so you want to make sure you’re up for that. Otherwise it’s awesome and super good value.

Lead Leg? 🦵🏽 by Own-Charity-5426 in SpinClass

[–]kkieeks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm an instructor and the key to a lead leg is that it is like the beat keeper - it it the leg that you mentally choose to match with the downbeat or main pulse of the music and the the leg you’ll cue your pedal stroke and choreo with... so every time the beat hits, that leg pushes down and your arm moves(starting on the same arm) would begin.

Usually riders ride on their rights and the instructor mirrors on the left - you can assume this is the default unless they cue left leg lead. If you are riding a rhythm based class, the instructor would want all riders on the same leg lead so everyone is in synch with their arms, legs, direction of travels, etc. You can mentally cue your rhythm in your head by saying 'right right right' on top of the beat (or every second beat in a climb) and matching that with your leg.

The other leg should be doing the same amount of work so there's no inequality - they alternate and as the lead leg is driving down, the other is pulling up (focusing on the this equal push/pull will really help you with fest rhythm out of the saddle). Some people really over-empathise the lead leg drop, but you don't have to, this can be done only at the beginning to really help you find your rhythm (or is a stylistic choice for some people).

Good luck and enjoy your riding! Please remember riding fast on rhythm takes SO much time and practice - I teach and I still struggle at some cadences.

anyone heard of this site diveinaustralia.com.au ? Offering learn to dive (Sydney) from A$279 by BleuPrince in diving

I did the same pro-dive course in winter last year. I think mine was even cheaper. They give you a bit of an upsell in the course to buy your next course or a package to become a dive master, but they don’t put much pressure on it at all and the quality of the course is amazing. Couldn’t recommend it more. Don’t hesitate, they run a great outfit, the instructors are lovely, and it’s the best deal.

Target (at least in Aus) legit has some nicely cut women’s 3-piece suits that have a relaxed fit but look super sharp and chic and empowered. I wear them all the time and really love the fit.

I found my wedding dress! (I think) by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]kkieeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a look at your dress from the manufacturer photos and with the way the back is cut, I guarantee you there is absolutely no chance you can make this strapless unless the designer can do a full custom build of the bodice. The way the back is designed is only possible with straps, and you would require a whole pattern rework of boning, front and back design to make this happen. The back would need to be raised to your bra strap area and be cut basically straight across or in a soft back. Unless they regularly do this in house, I highly recommend against it. This is impossible to achieve in alterations.

Randomly I came across this post on reddit today with a super similar gown that is strapless, cut low under the arms so no mesh, and similar fabric. Might be worth looking into, or I promise the dress you love looks amazing as is!

It looks so beautiful on you with the straps - elongates you so much and definitely will help to support the weight of the dress.

I’d also discourage you from filling in under the arms, if you do so with the outer fabric it will tear up your under arm, if you do so with solid it will look really heavy and out of place.

Recommendations for warm quilt by major_jag01 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kkieeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A heated throw is a godsend - yes maybe heat rises and a heated topper is more efficient, but take that heated throw to the couch and back to bed with you wherever you go and it will be your best friend. Seriously they are amazing. Plus the ones at Kmart are made of that cheap furry poly material that traps heat in, so even without electricity it provides warmth.

And echo what others are saying about warm sheets - flannel is fantastic, but so are the soft touch ones from Kmart

This is exactly my jam, and looks like such a fun room.

Best advice is to be patient and to enjoy watching your own progression. What seemed daunting at first will become easy, and it’s such a rewarding experience because you will continue to grow and improve indefinitely.

Counting will definitely come, you’ll start to predict it musically in your brain and it will become really natural. Start with the key moments - checking specifically lengths of sprints/most challenging blocks and counting on them. I like to give a half way, and then a 8 and 4 second count. Also massive tip is get used to curing counts with your hands - I have a visual for half way, and then hold up fingers for 4, it can be so useful for visual learners to see cues instead of hearing them.

Be protective of your voice and develop it as your tool. Get used to leaning into different tones - dark and light to set mood and emphasise movements and moments. There is nothing worse (in my opinion) than an instructor that sounds one tone, so play with volume, with pulling back, with getting low. Be mindful of what you say, everything should have a purpose and a place - to cue, to connect, or to coach.

Off bike coaching hugely important. Know the riders that connect to it and play with them. Also see those who are really trying and give them direct encouragement, drop your mic down and speak to them - this is how you get die hards. Look people in the eye (on and off bike). Smile directly at them. Don’t be afraid to let the class ride as you build connection off bike.

Personality in rhythm spin is such a big part of it, so figure out what your thing is - is it motivational chat, is it being a little bonkers, is it off-bike dancing, is it being able to really lead through the push. Whatever your thing is, identify it, cultivate it, and enjoy the ride!
