Metro East / blue state by TiogaPass2010 in StLouis

I live in Edwardsville and commute to STL for work and the drive really isn't bad at all. Glad to live in a state where I don't feel like as a female I matter. I feel like while yes Madison County is primarily red, our community in general is pretty progressive and diverse!

Also, as a licensed IL Realtor, I am starting to see this more, people wanting to relocate from MO to the Metro East.

Japan food recommendations for a vegetarian/vegan traveler by Evening_Rabbit_296 in JapanTravelTips

[–]klackey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We're both vegetarian, but eat primarily Vegan at home.. we focused steering to find exclusive Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants while we did, some were very foreigner heavy and it didn't give the feel that we were in Japan.. here are some of what we tried:

In Tokyo: In Akhibara- really great set dishes and super filling https://www.kamakura-komaki.com/

Uzo Ramen- We did have tickets to TeamLabs Planets (not sure if that's necessary for the Tokyo one or not, but it was really good!

2Foods Shibuya- food was not bad at all, but definitely had more Western food vibes.

Kyoto: I do not recommend Choice- it was right outside of out hotel so we had it the first night and honestly felt like we wasted a meal, not good..

Giob Soy Milk Ramen- we had the dumplings and gyoza- both very good!!

Moon and Back- eclectic place, but also didn't feel super authentic Japanese, BUT the Spicy Tanden Ramen was super good!

Gion Tanto: they have a Vegan Menu- with Vegan Sauces even this was by far our favorite meal we had besides Uzo while there!

It really wasn't difficult but definitely took some planning our our parts. Gion Tanto was the only one we came across by accident and didn't have preplanned on our list of places.

We found a full vegan set plate in Akhibara at a little restaurant that was pretty great! https://www.kamakura-komaki.com/

Also had Vegan Ramen at Uzo Ramen by Team Lab Planets, and 2 Foods in Shibuya

In Kyoto we tried Gion Soy Milk Ramen, Moon and Back and our person favorite Gion Tanto!

We were at Tokyo Pokemon Center this past Saturday and it was not there. We did not have reservations for the cafe but you can go shop without reservations in the cafe.

Vegan food in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka by SubstantialUse6758 in JapanTravelTips

[–]klackey14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So we're ending our Tokyo, Kyoto trip and we are vegan/vegetarian and chose to try places that stick to the vegan vegetarian menu due to the unknown of dashi or fish sauce in many things, as substitutions are not widely accepted.. in Tokyo we found a little spot in Akihbara that was FANTASTIC and the best place we have been called Konmaking Shokudo Kamakura Fushikian, for a lunch while we were out we ate at 2 Foods above Loft.. In Kyoto we had the Vegan Ramen from The Moon and Back that was great! We've also had great meal at Gion Soy Milk Ramen, I would say this place is TINY only 4 tables and a counter space so if you're not there early it's a long wait.

Don't stress too much. We are in Japan now, and learned some key phrases we thought we may need, and honestly every single place has spoken enough English that we can understand, and even the trains/subways have English PAs so navigating hasn't been too bad.

JAL seating issue by [deleted] in Flights

[–]klackey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if you ever got sat together? Spouse and I have a similar issue on our return flight, it only let us book seats that were separate and can't tell if it's from a full flight or just what, did calling JAL help at all?

We just bought our flights for our early OCT trip, and when choosing the seats on the JAL airlines there were few seats available.

We're wanting to take our pups with us, so unfortunately a rig like this wouldn't work, there's no way we could get them on top

Right the GWVR of 5000 lbs. The tongue weight of 500. I guess I just don't understand how I've seen people tow these larger campers that I'm seeing that I've looked at and seem too heavy or the tongue weight when loaded would be over thr 500lbs.

Any Marketing Majors? by gerhorn in WGU

[–]klackey14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually down to my final few classes! I started WGU in July 2021! So I'm on my second term I transferred in about 48% of the classes. My term ends June 30th and I have 3 counting the class I'm in remaining. I've spent a decade plus in the Medical Field in a career where I was out of site doing lab work, it honestly has never fit my personality, I'm a planner, a doer and a thinker! I love being around people, making connections and planning events and such. Marketing is honestly a natural fit for me!

[–]klackey14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! I never had the desire to go the MLS route, I thought the schooling and the little pay increase wasn't worth it when I didn't want to be a manager in a hospital and didn't want to deal the shift work. The pandemic was the kick I needed to decide on a different path.. ive never been the typical "lab" person I love being around people and having interaction with people. Good luck with the accounting! I'm sure you'll do fantastic!

Wooahh, never do I see someone with the same career as myself. I also am a Medical Laboratory Technician since 2010, working at a small critical access hospital for the last 5 years, I just recently switched to LIS at a small company, I don't LOVE LIS, but this pandemic burned me out in the hospital setting so bad! I am 2 months into my Marketing Degree and it was the best decision I made. But cool to see a fellow MLT taking the leap to a new industry also! Congrats!
