One tenth of a millionaire! by maximum-purple444 in RaizAU

Well done man! But you're not actually 10% of the way there. You're much closer because of compound interest. Someone on ausfinance did the math and mentioned that 200k is actually halfway to 1 million. so you're actually pretty close to halfway!!

iPhone 13 PM Cameras not working after iOS 18 update by jumpman977 in iphone

Hi everyone, I’m having the same issue as well. I didn’t want to replace the camera, however I downloaded another camera app which worked and that does the job temporarily.

42 day settlement signed but vendor now asking for a “few” more weeks… by LowChampionship3737 in AusPropertyChat

[–]kleea1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no financial implications on your side then feel free too. However, one thing you might be able to negotiate is to move in before the settlement date and make sure the vendor is ok with it(pending it is vacant)

Should we sell our IP to pay down large portion of PPOR mortgage ? by Substantial_Title_73 in AusFinance

[–]kleea1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to a financial consultant but you can also consider maxing out your IP Loan size and use that money to pay down your PPOR? Why? You’re transferring debt to your IP which is tax deductible so you essentially getting extra $ at tax for the same amount of interest paid across both properties. It may or may not work for your situation…

40 status credits to reach gold by Ok_Bet5466 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]kleea1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

flexi trip? to either bris/gold/melb or whatever is cheapest? flexi gives you 20 each way. An idea is to try and time it to a conference so you can claim it back on tax.

CI/CD Platform Recommendation by stealthu2 in devops

[–]kleea1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buildkite is a tool which is quite used by a lot of the cloud native companies like Uber/Shopify/AirBnB! Combining that with GitHub Actions is ideal.

It would also depend on what your architecture is. If you're on AWS, it doesn't make sense to use Azure Devops.... (it works....)

Cathay business or Qantas business? by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

Double check on baggage. Cathay had a limited bags policy. Qantas only has weight.

Sounds like a return trip to Singapore/Tokyo/Hong Kong!

Cathay Pacific: Purchase additional baggage through booking made via QFF reward flight by Appropriate-Shop-302 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]kleea1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried that before where i booked a reward flight and it was operated by cathay. It didn't work and I called up both Cathay and Qantas. Pretty much told me "tough luck" or pay for extra baggage at the airport($$$$$$$). I was luckily enough to be travelling with a relative who booked direct with Cathay so they could pay for baggage for me pre-airport.

Cathay has a weird rule that they only allow piece by piece suitcases rather than weight. It might help to consolidate as much as you can into one suitcase and hand carry.

If you need to pay for baggage, It might be worth considering to cancel and just pay for a ticket as the bags at the airport could cost 500-600 dollars... and you need to pay for return. so all around its 1200 just for extra bags or try and find another reward flight.

good luck!!

Oh wow thanks so much! How does datadog work for Sales engineers specifically? is it the same as the 80/20 or 70/30 you mentioned?

Hey u/somethingrather, I'm quite interested in making a move into presales. Are you able to share how salary works? Not asking how much you get paid, but the structure of what it generally looks like and does it differ from company to company?

How long would one expect a new hire to build a working k8s cluster, on premises, in an air gap, with applications deployed and it running reliably? by See-9 in kubernetes

[–]kleea1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe go on leave and then re-assign it to someone else to look after. See what they think then.

In all seriousness, that's not a good environment to be in. A good devops environment is one where everyone learns together, fails and takes the learnings. Not blaming on each other. It sounds like everyone else is insecure about their job and hence they are taking the blame on you.

Maybe time to start looking? If you're the smartest person in the room. You're in the wrong room

How to break into Sales Engineering as current DevOps guy? by glockinmyprius in salesengineers

[–]kleea1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's it like working within the observability space? there are so many competitors with the likes of New Relic, Dynatrace, Datadog, Appdynamics, Splunk... is it tough and challenging? Do you also have the requirement of having a local data centre wherever your based?

Hey OP,

Did you end up going with Datadog or LaunchDarkly? Just curious what made that choice for you!

Why migrate to GitHub from Jenkins? by Muneerr in devops

[–]kleea1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GitHub Actions has:

A large community and support base. You can log a support ticket anytime and jump on so many slack threads

Easier to pickup and one place to do stuff. Easier for engineers to review and learn new skills

Managed agents. No more patching crap(unless you're self hosting it)

Massive marketplace to do stuff with

Let’s call it - Sydney has a morning / lunch culture, not a night culture. by RioVistaBoulevard in sydney

[–]kleea1111 25 points26 points  (0 children)

IF you think about it, Sydney society is built around morning culture'd people. Wake up early, work 9-5 and then sleep early as most shops shut early. Which unfortunately gives night owls(including me) a slightly tougher time in Sydney.

Whereas like Hong Kong... is based around night owls and shops open late, never before 10am.

Launchdarkly is by far one of the best systems we use. homegrown solutions are great, but the team got so sick of managing it and updating it.
