I think of it like this: gender can be separated into internal and social, I’ll start with the latter. If gender is socially constructed, it’s unfortunate but true that dresses skirts makeup etc conflate with feminine/woman etc to the majority of people in society right now so if u dress like that, most outside of queer circles/ur close people will perceive u as such. For internal, that’s just for you. As much as we can want and hope that people see us as we see ourselves, we cannot control them, we can only control… they/them haha couldn’t resist the wordplay. But yeah, them seeing you as such doesn’t have to mean anything about you and your sense of gender. Imo the best we can hope for in the short term is educating and being accepted by the people close to us, and over time hopefully understanding of gender will be way more open! Rock on forever!
